Not to get too nit picky but it actually can’t supply more current which is what provides torque to an electric motor. Voltage supplies speed. Voltage times current gives the power input to the motor. So supplying more power means giving more of either voltage or current. The problem is that no more torque can be added to the motor and running a higher voltage ie a higher speed could stall the motors and break them. Basically, could’ve gone for more speed (voltage) at 1:46 but doesn’t have the torque (current) to make it work which is why they stopped.

just dip the whole thing in a tub of WD40, can't be un-oiled if everything is shinning

if the circumference of "Cheap" is about 7cm and it spins about 24.000 times per minute.. that means it drives 1.68km/min - thats about 100,8 km/h (62,63 mph).. So its not that slow..
EDIT: the circumference is 9.7cm so the result is 139,68 km/h

Well, if you were to release the wheel when it hit max rpm, it would spin out and fall over because it’s literally just plastic, and drag from the ground and air would slow the lightweight tire down, even if it had a small cross section. But take this setup, compact it, quadruple it, and make it into a mini car shape, and you have the fastest RC car. But you could just buy one at that point, instead of spending money on legos and custom electronics, but don’t let me be a killjoy.

they were wired in series so additional power could be added by raising the voltage higher before the current limit was reached.

@@HPD1171 Not true in this case: you can see at 2:20 there are two battery boxes with wiring leading to the top motors, one box for each motor. That's where the additional power came from. The other two were still in parallel, as can be seen by the wire/lego conductive blocks combos stacked, beside the boxes.

Avenir 333 im not sure if weight would have mattered much. Most motors ive seen like for stuff like legos and knex cant spin very fast, but have good torque.

Cody Myhre yeah but it seems to be creating a lot of violent oscillations. I think those might have an effect on the speed, slowing them down a bit by wasting energy deforming the rubber. I don’t think it would be by a crazy amount but it would also make the system more stable I think.
Dismantling the wheel kinda defeats the purpose since the challenge is to make the wheel spin.
