Go Leafs. Just got a Babyface FS today. Lovely sound. I got it because I wanted to get the same great results as my racked up UFX while on the road. Thanks for the vid.
I bought one of these a year ago to replace my original RME Babyface in my voice over studio. Great piece of gear. RME USA support is great! This interface is QUIET! However, I have been struggling with the TotalMix software for several years...since I first purchased the original Babyface. I have it working but I'm scared to try changing anything because I don't understand how it works and I'm afraid I won't be able to get it back working if I mess something up. I do have a "working" setup saved so I can reload it if I really screw things up. That being said...you have over 2k views now and I would kiss your feet and mow your lawn if you would do a "tutorial for dummies" on this TotalMix software! I subscribed to your channel so I can be notified when you make the tutorial. I will be waiting! THANKS!
The only problem I have with the Babyface Pro FS. The design is horrible for a desktop. For the ports and outputs being on the side instead of the back like most desktop interfaces will cause wires to be all over the place and I get the point when it comes to portability but man….I hate it cause I’m a neat guy. Other than that it’s a solid card.
Mine came with the USB 2 cable (which I use) and a USB c cable but no DC power plug. However, I think a USB 2 power plug (like for a phone) would power it ( you would need to check the voltage). SO I dont think it comes with it. RME sells this: www.rme-usa.com/power-supplies.html And there is this on Aamazon: a.co/d/dlur6Ef Full disclosure: I have not used this as a standalone mixer myself.
@@SaturnVoyager11 No problem, I will also say that about a year in I really like this thing. I use it mainly for TH-cam videos but the software really makes the difference. Being able to mix so many different channels from multiple sources is awesome. The quality of the thing is top notch as well. Take very good care and happy recording.
@@colinlamb Not huge deal, upgraded conversion in the D/A but the original was superb already! Their higher end units use the same convertors is all. The PRE Amps are identical. Be careful because they now use a a new D/A chip after the chip shortage and the original version has the better convertors. They had to find a replacement company. The BabyFace Pro original has the better convertors from my understanding. The now version is actually quite difficult to get as they are having problems manufacturing them currently. The Original unit is superb.
@@SlinkiestTortoise23 I love this unit. I think I actually bought it in 2020. I was lucky enough to get one shipped in from another province. So Im pretty sure it has the older chip. Ive done more recording of music with it lately. The software alone is worth the money.
@@colinlamb Absolutely it is, TotalMix is a fully fledged digital mixer! The EQ in software is second to none! Plus you can mix sum through it all with zero latency. It’s a bit bewildering to start with but once you suss out the routing, it’s bonkers powerful and like I say, the EQ is spot on, clean and the converters and the pre amps are the best I’ve used under £1000. It stands up to the Prism in my testing and that is really saying something! It’s much better than the Apollo with all that DSP faffing around.
The clock is upgraded from Steady Clock III (that is excellent) to a newer clock but I’d take the original D/A chip over the new clock personally. I’ve used RME for over a decade and run all their hardware in professional situations and it has never let me down, not once! RME do not fuck around and they know what they are doing with digital audio better than anyone else in the industry!

You are welcome. This thing is great. Enjoy and have patience with Totalmix!!!

Such a solid piece of gear. Turns your computer into a digital mixing board. Great for video and steaming too
GLG! This is the year. Or a year…
Greetings and thanks for this. Did you do that Total Mix tutorial, by any chance. Thanks.

Do you have the right angle cord? That helps but I agree it usually ends up looking like an octopus of cables. I love it for portability though
for me the advantage was that design...
Does it really comes with the DC power cable? I’ve seen several unboxings but never saw the DC power cable included

Other people seem to enjoy the video just fine. Maybe my video isn't for you. Thanks for your thoughts though.
