    Fans pay big money to attend a NASCAR race and travel great distance too. I don't care for Toyota's, but Joe Gibbs does, and I have always respected him as an honest man. He should have been fined instead. The cars are inspected when they get to the track. They are inspected before the qualify and inspected again before the race. If there was a problem, it should have been noticed during the inspection. The fan at the track and watching on TV should be left with how the race ended. Win, lose or draw and not find out that NASCAR decided to find infraction of the car after the race that they didn't find before the race. GM has always had their fingers involved in racing where they shouldn't have. Champion drag racer Bob Glidden was beating GM back in the day and no matter what GM did Glidden kept winning national titles. After a couple years of winning NHRA required Giddens car to weigh 200 Lbs. more than GM and Glidden still beat them. Hendricks has an inside with NASCAR.

    • @robertb203
      @robertb203 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It likely changed the way the air moved over the front facia, and created more downforce. Back when they were allowed to put tape over the air inlets of the front grill, they would sometimes use pieces of tape that were only about 3" wide and 3" tall. That would drastically change the handling of the car.
      All cars are laser measured in pre race inspection. I'm told that tolerance of the laser is 0.015" to allow for expansion or contraction of the parts by heat and cold. They used a piece of tape that was 0.012" thick so it would not be caught by the laser measuring device.
      It was intentional, and it was worth it if they risked getting DQ'd or possibly worse.

    At this point NASCAR needs to just build all the cars themselves on an assembly line pretty much. Haul them all to the track the day before. The teams fly in and then a draw is held to see what team gets what car. Then slap that teams number on the car and driver name over the door. The driver gets 50 practice laps to set the car up to his liking. Then the cars are locked up till the next day and they go racing. Oh wait this was already tried and it failed. Just like NASCAR is failing today.
