What is the focus functionality of the 60mm f/2.8 on an A6500. I have heard that the three f/2.8 DN lenses have limited focus functionality. I have an A6500 coming with a MC-11 adapter and a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 in a Canon mount. This lens is one of the small group of APS format lenses which Sigma states is compatible with the MC-11...
If the focal ranges had been 12, 24, and 60, then this trio of lenses would have been PERFECT! As it is, I really like what Sigma has done, but I just don't find 19mm or 30mm all that useful. The 60mm however is fantastic. I love the balance between it being longer than a 50mm option, but not too tight like an 85mm which is difficult to shoot with on crop. If I could have a lens exactly like this at 12 and 24 I would be in heaven. (I know Sigma has a new 16mm, but it's too big and not wide enough imo!)
A 12mm is a great focal length on crop
This was so fine review that I bought them all and I'm pleased.
Good for you. Enjoy!
Very detailed video about the Sigma e-mount lenses. Good job!
Sigma is the only third party manufacturer that has embraced the Sony APS-C e-mount cameras from the beginning. Tamron has produced just one e-mount lens and the famous for its manual lenses Rokinon/Samyang has recently introduced a few affordable autofocus full frame e-mount lenses.
Sigma has announced that it will soon produce full frame autofocus e-mount lenses. However nearly all new full frame and APS-C Art, Contemporary and Sport series lenses from Sigma work good with the Sigma MC11 adapter for e-mount cameras.
Sigma support the e-mount cameras and I am happy about that because the prices of Sony e-mount lenses are usually considerably higher.
It's true. I've had conversations with Tamron, however, and they are aware of this market and do have plans (I'm not at liberty to discuss them) to address this.
Dustin Abbott Thank you for the info.
Love the video! Keep it up!
Thanks!
I really enjoying you videos. Great as it was expected
+max factor thank you very much
Very nice new PeakDesign Leash in Ash color! Hope to see a review of that soon. Many regards, dirk
Yes, they were kind enough to send me a prerelease strap a few months ago and I've been using it non-stop on the Sony. I love it, and I just need to get enough time for a review.
Note. Sigma 19mm with A6500 (I don't know if other Sony cameras has this too) has serious issue with video AF. I had to change Sigma to Sony 20mm because AF gives you focus breathing "pumping" effect aka unusable video footage.
That's definitely an issue for video shooters.
I just wish that these lenses had eye-AF capability. The 60mm would be great as a portrait lens.
It does support EYE-AF, actually, though not as robustly as some lenses.
which sigma is better for portraits , strees photobgraphies and landscapes (sigma 30mmf/2.8 or sigma 60f/2.8??
Neither of them is better for all those things. The 60 is better for portraits. The 30 is better for landscapes and street.
the 30 mm 2.8 serves for portraits too , do you think that does a good work for portraits ?
Do these lenses not work on Sony Full frame lenses ? I thought full frame sonys where E- mount
Yes, though only in APS-C mode. On the a7R3, for example, that is a 18 MP crop mode.
I briefly owned the 19mm and the 60mm lenses, and as I recall, they made a knocking sound when shaken, as the various pieces of glass are designed to float (when not connected to the camera)
That's true, to some extent, though it is part of the design.
I am a bit out of it, so you went for a sony 6500 not canon m I guess?
That's right. I needed a 4K camera for my channel, and Canon is dragging their heels there.
Dustin Abbott off course been thinking the same. I also like the high frame rate raw sony has been implementing on differnt cameras lately. Would like to see what the next a6700/ 7000 has to offer.
why are we looking at Canon lenses wtf
????
