I had 1 and sold it, wrong. I ran a controlled sound on top high tune. bottom head looser with tight wires man it was snappy , cracky and did it have punch. Great vid thanks.
hey Wayne - it seems this info is really hard to pin down - can't even find info on the PearlDrum website - all I can say is that this thing is HEAVY in weight. I see Pearl have issued a 'Heritage version'! Sweetwater says both the Heritage & Beaded Brass version are 1mm! Can anyone else clarify?
hey @jonogreens, thank you - I find it more open / bright overall - obviously that depends on your choice of heads & dampening - but if you're after a Supraphonic kinda sound, this could be a good choice
@@philgaudion5452 hey thanks Phil for the reply, I currently sold my supraphonic and bought a acrolite 14/5 to try thinking it would have a similar sound to the supraphonic but I was mistaken, unfortunately I don't like the dry sound it has, I'm kicking myself for selling the supraphonic but anyway, now I have a brand new acrolite that I have to sell and buy another in that price range as I can't afford a brand new supraphonic atm, so the next best thing would be the pearl heritage brass, I have heard a lot of people saying how loud and bright and some say it has some dryness to it....many thanks for the information....I might just go and buy a heritage brass when I sell the acrolite....cheers
hi Salvatore - thank you for your kind words - it's actually a converted carport with a vaulted ceiling (1 brick wall) - so it has a 'live' sound to it - I'm in Melbourne Australia - cheers
You always get great sounds Phil. Nice work, thank you.
What a great snare sound , i love it
Thank you for sharing your experience ,
Cant wait to explore all your videos 😀🥁

Good stuff Phil. Snare drum sounds great
First time I've ever seen someone with that mic position, sounds good tho.
Nice groove, your drums sound great.
thank you Christian - very kind!
FANTASTIC snare! Thanks for sharing Phil :)
Glad you like it Paul - yeah, I'm a fan for life of these... hope it helps you select what you're after too - thanks for your comment
This snare drum by Pearl sounds similar to a Ludwig Black Beauty.
Excellent vid. Playing & snare sound Awesome.
Great sound! I am looking at a used one that I haven't played in person yet. Does the "Elite" have the 1.5 mm shell? I know the newer ones have a 1mm.

How tight was the bottom head at the beginning, before you lowered the tension.
Nice video, do you find the snare to be more dry and focused or bright and open like the supraphonic 6.5.

Hi. Is the the same as black nickel brass model?
yes - (even though this is an older model) - I believe my one here is a 'Nickel over Brass' shell as it is now know as.. thanks for the view!
The floor tom it's 14" or 16"? Nice snare.
hi Jean Paul - it's a 16" floor tom (mounted) - Pearl Masters Studio kit from 2000
@@philgaudion5452 thanks
