  • Triumph has reinvented the big-bore parallel twin with the Thunderbird range, and the Storm is the most fun of the bunch. It’s got the style, the grunt and the presence to make an impression, and leave a huge smile on the face of the rider.

    "Only 100 hp" beats up on my 103 (supposedly high output) Harley all day long. Sick of it. I want one of these.

    Bought a 14 Storm in exact color with the aftermarket pipes and 2000km on it for 10k C$ 5 years ago.
    A Harley would have cost me over 20k here.
    Great bike,the wife even loves it.
    I get looks everywhere.....Harley guys wonder wtf it is.
    I've never seen another on the road.
    Only complaint is accessories are hard to come by.
    But mine with a Mustang seat,led lights,Madstad windshield is only some bags away from being complete.

    A thought just occurred to me. With that parallel twin you could chop the frame all the way. Man, you could sit there with the rear wheel up your back and legs straight out in front. Rake that shit right out. A camera up front and screen on the tank so you can see. Yep, choppers in the future will look like this. My idea, you owe me money.

    I would love to get ahold of those tank badges for my 2014 Storm! I did a search and can't find anything. I love the traditional font, not the crap they threw on mine. Is it country-specific? I'm in the US.

    I have this exact bike. With 60 years of riding under my belt, I've finally stopped coveting other bikes. This one does it for me. My only complaint is that it develops an annoying high frequency vibe in the pegs and bars at 3k rpm. Wonder if it's the TORS pipes.

  • @toradog5719
    @toradog5719 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    obtw, I bought mine used with 9k on it for 7700. Same year and miles Harley is double that.

      I just bought a 2014 Tbird Commander 1700 with 4k miles for $5500 (guy came down from $8500 after a month of not selling). I was looking at Harleys and you're right...except HD Road Kings and Soft Tails from '03 and up are also still about 1.5 to double.

    With the TORS pipes, the Triumph performance intake and remap my 2016 Storm puts out 111HP and 130 ft#'s of torque on the dyno. Who needs the bloated looking and clumsy handling Rocket.

    • @thembones6976
      @thembones6976 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bloated for sure. Clumsy handling? Get real, weight for weight the rocket handles just as good as the storm. Me and my buddy ride together and switch bikes all the time. Besides, with the same mods the rocket makes around 140whp/150ft lbs and that's being modest 👍 wish I could own both, but comparing the storm to the rocket is cannabalism 😂

    • @tms372
      @tms372 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thembones6976 " weight for weight "??? I've owned both, the Storm rides circles around the Rocket and looks better too. I liked my Rocket 3 but I like the Storm much better.

    • @thembones6976
      @thembones6976 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tms372 are you sure you didnt ride a Touring model? You're off your rocker mate. The Rocket 3 doesnt even weigh more than 80lbs over the Storm, but has WAY more power. I dyno'd my bike recently and made 153hp and 149ft lbs of torque. My lean angle is superior to the Storm, my buddy is practically scraping away while im hardly touching my pegs. I will admit the Storm is a more beautiful bike, but that's it. Performance wise the Rocket 3 Roadster is in a league of it's own and the Storm wont keep up. You must have ridden a shitty touring model that is de-tuned. Ever pull a wheelie in 2nd gear on your Storm? Didnt think so

      I'll give you my answer. I just bought a 2014 Thunderbird Commander 1700 which is basically the same except in two toned crimson color and a long haul seat and saddle bags. I'm 6'2 and very comfortable on mine. The forward controls and handlebar position is perfect...as is the power and stability for a heavier bike.
