    In defense of Richard's unhinged behavior:
    Humping the truck was a bit for a commercial. I once worked for a guy who portrayed himself as his own mother for a commercial to advertise frozen pizza. It's unhinged, yes, but that's marketing, baby.
    As for yelling at his wife: I don't know how much that baloon cost to make (in direct money, time and effort now wasted, electronic equipment inside the balloon, and additional costs of safely getting it all back- even before the whole kid being in there thing), but losing that much money over 1 person's mistake is- at the very least- not easy to stay calm over.

Untreated ADHD made school a living hell for me, and to this day I still never sought treatment for it because my parents told me that they didn't want me on pills as a kid despite the doctor diagnosing me and willing to prescribe medication. Having gotten older it has become more manageable, but I can tell it still affects me in my adult life.

  • @spiderraccoon7869
    @spiderraccoon7869 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Her saying he’s on drugs and I saw someone in chat say ADHD…y’all do know people can be naturally emotional and out there, right? Not saying I know what his situation is, if I’m wrong I apologize. I just hate when someone acts hyper and gets emotional and people immediately assume something is wrong with them. Same thing happens when people act super shy and reclusive too, people assume the worst, it’s sad.
    Also just wanted to say, yelling and cursing is not abuse. I saw a few people say it in comments and, this is the reason why real abuse victims can’t get help. Because people want to call anything not absolutely perfect abuse nowadays and we for some reason have to cater to prissy people who can’t take anything emotionally. Those people need to grow a pair and the real victims need to stop being told to grow a pair. Don’t confuse real abuse and “oh no my dad was really mad once”. I’m just saying this for anyone in chat that doesn’t know what real abuse is. And to be fair, I don’t either. And if he was frequently yelling like that, I might be on your side. But if this was just a one time meltdown, don’t say he deserves to have his kids taken just because you can’t take yelling and you assume the kids can’t take it either.

    I for one believe old Ricky is a bit wacked out, but was genuinely concerned for the safety of his child and did everything in his power to make sure he was safe. To be fair though, I've had several instances of bad encounters with the police, where I was stopped for WALKING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PATTED DOWN, but anyways, man was forced into taking a plea deal to prevent all sorts of financial and familial drama, like losing his wife and potentially children, as well as undoubtedly millions of dollars in fees and bail, and a significant amount of time, likely in prison instead of jail.

    fun fact for those who don't know: you get sent to prison for any crime where you're locked up for a year or more so since it's for a longer stay, the conditions are better

    I like that chat is raving about police corruption as if it's exclusive to America, I have a personal story that I can't really share about a corrupt UK officer that let a buddy of mine keep some "contraband" in exchange for cash. I can say names or locations for obvious reasons but said person had some illicit powers and maybe even a firearm in his possession at the time of the bribe. But you didn't hear that from me. And on the other side, every interaction with police in my local area has been good, mainly because I'm not a meth head like some of my neighbors growing up. There was a house on my little dead end street growing up where families would live for a year or two and then move out. One of the families had the entire back 1/3 of the house separated with plastic sheets under the excuse of "house extensions", and even as a kid I knew they were cooking back there. Every entrance to the house had security cameras setup with the wires all leading to the back area we were all very clearly told to NEVER go into. But me being a dumbass kid, I jsut wanted to play Xbox with their kids so I never bothered breaking that rule. Their mom was always kind to me but she was always on edge and clearly wired most of the time I visited. They were cool enough to me and my family so we never ran into problems, and one day they moved out and I had two less people to hang out with on my street. I can't say exactly where I lived but it was right next to I5 (Interstate 5).

    Richard Heene is very similar to my dad in his yelling at his kids and wife. And Mayumi responding with “I did, I did” about the tether is also very realistic as a woman who’s probably naturally mild mannered and has an emotionally abusive/insane husband.
    More than likely Richard Heene is a narcissist, but that doesn’t justify the legal chicanery.

    So yeah, this was huge as it was going on. I am actually from Colorado and I remember, everything just stopped while this was happening. The turmoil of wondering if a kid was alive or dead, how did it happen? It was nuts, but then when it became apparent that the entire thing was a hoax, oh boy did people get angry. MFers played with people's emotions across the entire nation just to get some attention and it did not end well in the public arena.

    Chat is a great example of how bad the court of public opinion can be at judging people. People accusing everyboy of lying, declaring Heene should have his kids taken away, based on fuck all - even as IH is explaining why, most likely, Heene *didn't* do anything wrong. (especially as, by now, we know he didn't - Heene was retroactively absolved of any guilt, in part thanks to the exposure IH provided for how the case was mishandled)
    And no, Chat, someone yelling at their kids isn't a reason to call CPS. They're going to laugh at you and call you names, because CPS has to deal with *actual* cases of child abuse, and a dad telling his 10-year old to "shut the fuck up" does not qualify.
    In Chat's defense, *most* of them seemed to be actually paying attention. Just a few people who were weirdly insistent at condemning Heene basically to the end, based on a lot of nothing but their first impressions - that's exactly what media and propaganda counts on, giving you a false first impression and hoping you stick to it regardless of what later evidence tells you.

    • @spiderraccoon7869
      @spiderraccoon7869 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      If people think yelling and cursing is abuse, they clearly don’t have any idea what ACTUAL abuse is and need to, as much as people don’t want to hear this, grow a pair. Stop being hurt by everything, and for the love of everything stop holding your skewed standards to everybody else. You aren’t actually hurt and you have no right to tell people how to act towards you. Sorry, I just hate when people act like that. The world ain’t perfect, stop acting like people need to be perfect.

    Obviously screaming at your wife like that is pretty damn unacceptable no matter the circumstances, but this wasn't 'you put the can opener in the wrong drawer', it was 'my hobby project of nearly a year's work just flew away because you told me it was tied down and it wasn't'. I don't think you need to be a cokehead to get that enraged, you just need a poor control over your emotions.

But then, the shit about him screaming to his wife and kid? Really? You judged a man in his worse moment, with possible losing of his other two children if the one in the globe died, after telling her wife to please look after the globe, with the kid saying that shit about the brother entering the globe and not telling jack shit? I will be FURIOUS, my take wouldnt be as compossed as the man just yelling obscenities while worried sick for his other kid, wishing it wasnt true that the kid hoped in the globe. And thats the takes you made? I dont know man, for what i see, i want to believe those where just jokes because you dont seem the kind of person to judge people like this

    It's a child in danger(at least to them) so it was an emergency situation that could resolve as fast as possible if they worked enouth, cause he could've fallen and died along with potentially also hurting or killing other people. People consider children to not have yet to experience much in life, hence why they take these situations as a big deal. Not saying adult cases shouldn't be taken seriously, just what a lot of people tend to think usually
    There are a lot of cops or protection services that are bad actors but that doesn't mean everyone is wasteful, lazy, careless, etc. It was their job and it was an emergency, so they did exactly as they were supposed to
    That's all I can say about this. If I am wrong about something, I'll listening

    Search and rescue ops are very different from a search for a fleeing suspect/abducted child/whatever other words I meant to use here. It's not unusual for there to be large numbers of personnel, even the local National Guard. And that's what that was, a hastily organized search and rescue op. It's generally because there's a wide search range, and they need people to physically canvas the entire area.
