Hello Marly, I love this pattern. I have just found some lovely 8 ply wool in a thrift shop so I think this pattern will be great for the amount of wool I have. Thank you. You made it look so easy.
Coming to this video 5 years after you posted it and WOW! Love any video that has from cast on to cast off (Though I prefer a long tail cast on and still did that). My scarf is looking fabulous and you made learning this pattern SO easy!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I love your tutorial style. Repetition, helpful hints, nice close up picture, no confusion of next step...finally someone I can follow. Refreshing and extremely helpful.
+Aribella Kamakani Oh what a very nice comment. Thank you so very much. I do try to teach on youtube as I teach in person by explaining why you are doing a particular stitch or technique instead of just telling you to do it.
There is no better instructor online as you.. I made this scarf for my DIL who absolutely adores it. Thank you for sharing this "fun to knit" pattern. Kudos to you.
Hi Mary, I just started following you so I can learn to knit. I loved this video and I am going to try this scarf tomorrow. You make it look very easy!! I crochet but have always been afraid of knitting. Here I go! Thank You
Marly i just love your knit and crochet tutorials. I just finished this drop stitch scarf. I used Red Heart yarn the color was Turqua. I love it. I am looking forward to more tutorials. I am also looking forward to your kal and cal's for this year.
So glad you show how to stitch "throwing" as well the . . . other kind (don't know the name. . . is that Continental?? Love how easy you make this look. Thanks so much. Bobbie P (JillFan).
Love the knitted cast-on. Will use that from now on. Also, does it matter if you cast on an even or odd number of stitches? The pattern calls for 26, but I keep losing count.
You can use straight needles as long as you have enough room for all the stitches to sit comfortably. As for the amount of time, that all depends on how fast you knit and how much time you dedicate to making it. For me, I am a fast knitter and I could make one of these in about 6 hours.
I've heard that lately. Seems some people are having trouble with the sound on different devices. I'm not sure what is happening as nothing has changed from my end. Please stick with me as I try to figure this out on my end :)
+Theresa Eckert Is the new video any better. The new My First...for the Slouchy Hat? I disconnected the audio mixer and plugged the mic directly into the camera.
+Bonnie Brown thank you for the feedback. It is my experience that the music strength is varied depending on what kind of a device is used to watch the video. I will work on things on my end to see if I can figure out why that is. I do hope you enjoyed the video beyond that.

+Theresa Eckert I know you can do it!
I have been knitting for quite a while but decided to go back to some beginner projects to polish skills a little more. I am excited to start this.

Super well done. Very clear!

Marly could you use the pattern to make a table runner?
Yes, just make it longer and a little wider.
thanks Marly
Marly do you have this pattern it seems to be missing from the site I suppose due to the merger
about how long does it take to make this scarf? and could it be done with 14 inch needles instead of the circular ones?
You can use straight needles as long as you have enough room for all the stitches to sit comfortably. As for the amount of time, that all depends on how fast you knit and how much time you dedicate to making it. For me, I am a fast knitter and I could make one of these in about 6 hours.
Cant stop looking at the purple scarf in background.. Were pattern for that one?
Your audio issues seem to be resolved. Your last few videos have been great
+Sandy Aguiar OH, that makes me so happy to hear! I think it was the audio mixer that I was using as a go between the mic and the camera.
Is there a printed pattern for this scarf?
Yes. The link is in the video description
nice
why are my long gated stitches larger than showing in your video?
You are most likely knitting a little looser than I am.
I love your instructions video
Can I still continue to slip the first stitch for a rift edge? Will that mess things up for when I come to do the yarn over? Beginner knitter!
*tidy edge
also the needle you are using does not look like a nine , does your video show things smaller then they really are?
I don't recall what actual needle size I used for this video but whatever I used it was to get the listed gauge of the pattern.
Love your videos but since dec your audio is very low with some distortion
I've heard that lately. Seems some people are having trouble with the sound on different devices. I'm not sure what is happening as nothing has changed from my end. Please stick with me as I try to figure this out on my end :)
+Marly Bird I noticed this as well. Turning up volume didnt seem to help. Hope it clears up for you.

❤❤❤👍👍👍👍💋💋💋
The music is way too LOUD. It's hard to hear the instructor at the beginning and again at the end of the video.
