@csgskate cant remember exactly. its been too long... however, the higher your iso the more noise. So just try to keep the iso down and turn your shutter speed up. Thats not the formula for everything but skating is good to shoot at a high shutter speed...personal opinion
You just made me want to buy a CANON 7D with a 7mm VIVITAR fisheye eventhough i know it wont make me better at skating! You just seem to have a blast!!!
@EmptyPlanetFilms l used 2 lenses. the kit lens (28-135mm canon) and a 7mm VIVITAR fisheye. and yeah manual focus the whole time with no viewfinder. Definitely not the easiest conditions haha. l still need to get that freaking viewfinder!
@PhilippeFreestyle thanks man. Honestly at the time I made this I wasn't very good at color grading and such. I think I just did some push and pull technique. I remember warming it up a little bit in FCP using 3 way color correction
@dentommer dude i just switched from a Canon HV40 to the 7D, and its an amazing camera. But it is very very confusing at first to learn all the settings and nuances of DSLR cameras for video. Much different from filming with a classic camcorder. Unless you're willing to put in the time learning the camera and spending alot of time watching tutorials on youtube, dont get it. otherwise, go for it because its a very very good camera
thanks. actually the aperture was pretty wide open i was just all over that focus. I think I had the iso at manual on this one I cant really remember. but the aperture was 4-5ish
ONE THING I can say about this video is.... at 1:11 I love your gloves man haha... But seriously, this video is AMAZING... especially the BEV fisheye shots at 1:03. Beautiful job.
@TheCosby47 This video was filmed right around that time last year. It's Utah so who the hell knows. I know they have delinquent kids shovel it (like community service) when it snows so you should be good.
the slow mo stuff i shot in 60p and slowed it to 30p in final cut, in this video. I had never used cinema tools before so for this video I did it that way. but now I use cinema tools
all the slow motion in this was 720/60p and regular speed was 1080/30. But when filming skating I keep a pretty high shutter regardless. 200-500 depending on light and whatnot.
I shot the slowmotion shots at 60 frames per second. i would never recommend shooting skateboarding at 24 fps. 24 looks good for other things but for skating there's usually too much blur. I shoot 30 fps or 60fps then slow it to 50% in FCP
what were your exposure, aperture, and iso settings for this? i'm having trouble getting good quality noise-free footage with my newly purchased 7D. Thanks!
Hi, I'm still using a canon xm2 (vx style cam) I would like to maybe change to DSLR but I'm scared to make the change. Is it hard to get this type of quality colours and footage out of the 7D? Do you always use manual focus? How many frames is this shot in?
Great video! How do you like shooting on the 7D? I've been filming/editing skating for about 7 years on my vx and am about to upgrade... still deciding on which camera. Really gorgeous video - it was really nice to see some 7D skate footage with someone who actually knows how to film. There's a lot of videos that suck... this is seriously good though. How do you like working with the high speed skate footage?
hey dude what frame rate did you shoot this at. I know alot of people who told me to shoot it at 24 fps, but then it dosent do slow motion very good. ps. i have the 7d and its amazing !!
@x10oli10x c'est vrai?! Nice. there is some stuff you have to do to the footage before you put it in final cut. I would do some research. I'm sure a quick google search will show you what you need to do...
Amazing!!!!
i watch this video every time before i go skate it sets the chill vibe in.
I like this snow+sunrise weather setup, and we saw a superclean FSflip, nice vid!
@csgskate
cant remember exactly. its been too long...

@switch1986

You just made me want to buy a CANON 7D with a 7mm VIVITAR fisheye eventhough i know it wont make me better at skating!
You just seem to have a blast!!!
@jimmyphotos actually I would recommend cinema tools for slow motion stuff
It's REALLY impressive what this cam can do :)
I need one of that!!
@chronic707
no its a SLR fisheye. For a picture camera.
@EmptyPlanetFilms

@PhilippeFreestyle
thanks man. Honestly at the time I made this I wasn't very good at color grading and such. I think I just did some push and pull technique. I remember warming it up a little bit in FCP using 3 way color correction
@wellack321
Do it!!! its does make you have better memories for sure
really nice film quality
@dhillwhat sounds almost canadian hahaha, much respect for the snow skating and the sick video.
@er88skate
I tweaked some shots...warmed them up with a little red/yellow tint. But there's a bunch of shots that are straight out of the cam dude...
@dhillwhat No worries man. We shot on it today as a test! Footy coming soon... It overheated quite a bit - do you run into this problem?
@dhillwhat awesome thanks man
@PunkBoy755
Kit lens 28-135mm 3.5-5.6
and a 7mm VIVITAR fisheye

ONE THING I can say about this video is.... at 1:11 I love your gloves man haha... But seriously, this video is AMAZING... especially the BEV fisheye shots at 1:03. Beautiful job.

@IMPfilmsTV

@dhillwhat
wait no its not haha this video was with the 28-135mm kit lens and a vivitar 7mm fisheye

damn!! i have to start skating again
Amazing vid man, really.
thanks why dont you guy make a short film with that 7d it look awsome
when you get used to 15-20 degrees farenheit, 35- 40 degrees farenheit with sunshine feels amazing! haha

@ZOBSkateboarding
for this video I actually didn't have a handle yet. But I now have the SCORPION from cam caddie. works great. the opteka one sucks.
@ForticaFilms final cut pro
@dhillwhat would you recommend this camera for skate filming and skate photography?
all the slow motion in this was 720/60p and regular speed was 1080/30. But when filming skating I keep a pretty high shutter regardless. 200-500 depending on light and whatnot.
@odessastyle1
its SOUL RIDE from some random dude. I put a link in the info of the video. you can download it for free there.
theres a link in the info now
@Znqt
I used FCP for all the coloring and such in this video. I didn't tweak much
@er88skate
haha thanks. I'm glad you liked the vid man
this looks freaking unbelievable! any hints on the color correction? :)
@dhillwhat Hey dude could you give me the name of the song? it is sicking inspiring for skate!
@chronic707
yeah vivitar 7 mm
I shot the slowmotion shots at 60 frames per second. i would never recommend shooting skateboarding at 24 fps. 24 looks good for other things but for skating there's usually too much blur. I shoot 30 fps or 60fps then slow it to 50% in FCP

god i want a 7d. Whats the song?
Nice video! What is the song?
@DerKaiii
I'm guessing your shutter speed is too low. Are you shooting on AUTO? or MANUAL?
@x10oli10x
depends on what format I shoot. This video I exported 720p using h.264 codec. pretty basic.
@xTheOfficialOriginal
Thanks haha
what were your exposure, aperture, and iso settings for this? i'm having trouble getting good quality noise-free footage with my newly purchased 7D. Thanks!

Tokina AT-X 107 FISHEYE 10-17 F3.5-4.5
a little more expensive than the fisheye you used but check it out!
How do you like working with the high speed skate footage?
thanks! 60fps
thanks man!
this 7d rock and you guys got some skill lol what program did you use to edit
the canon 7D is an HD-SLR. so yeah, it's an HD camera.
is that freehanded or do you have some kind of rig to steady the camera?
hey dude what frame rate did you shoot this at.
I know alot of people who told me to shoot it at 24 fps, but then it dosent do slow motion very good.
ps. i have the 7d and its amazing !!
