What still needs to be done after Track Installation is done: -Install Electrical Components (such as sensors, brakes, drive tires, etc... -finish the Theming and landscaping of the ride and area. -Programming the rides computer system, every coaster needs to have the ride system to be individually set up. -Testing the ride sufficiently with all possible scenarios -The inspections by authorities (such as the TÜV in Germany) that need to give their approval before the ride is allowed to the public. -Training the new ride operator staffand mechanics and all other new employees.
I think one of the biggest factors might be the arrival of the trains. I don't exactly know how fast Mack assembles their trains, but Voltron still has 2 trains to go despite the first train being delivered somewhere in January (transit between the assembly site and construction site plays no role here since transit is just 8 minutes between Europa park and the Waldkirch assembly plant). And Starfall racers only just got one train out of potentially 4 or 6.
That's a good point. I wonder if it takes more time to do the mechanical work and fitting or all the sensors and wiring for the restraints and ride system...
The reason rides like matterhorn and sheikra actually have parts which go underwater is thats the main braking system and hyperia needs to keep its speed
Yeah, their splashdowns are all either near the end of the ride or slightly elevated for Matterhorn, so they can afford to lose more speed. From the construction images, it does seem like Hyperia has some trim brakes along the splashdown though, so it might not fully explain it
I don’t really feel like you can call it “late” since they never claimed to or planned to open it on the park’s opening day. They’ve announced the date, and as long as they open it by then it’s not late imo lol 👌
Yeahh.... that's fair. To be honest, I made this video before they made the opening date announcement, and then had to quickly hack at it to make it work once they did, so its a bit of a Frankenstein of points. Thanks for still watching it though!
Thankfully Hyperia should be a far less troublesome ride than The Smiler, Mack have a fantastic reliability record and multiple lift hills and 5 trains was always going to make The Smiler more temperamental than most other coasters
That's a very good point - it probably helps that it's not the first of its ride type as well, because I bet that always throws up some new and unexpected problems
We are coming over from Ireland in 3 weeks time for our first ever visit to ThorpePark, I took a gamble wgen I booked in January that Hyperia would be open by then and I lost. 😒 Oh well, we'll try hop some cheap flights over for a day trip in late summer, queues will hopefully have eased a little by then.
Ah, that's a shame. Did you at least manage to take advantage of their latest deal, where you can visit once now and once when Hyperia opens cheaper? On the plus side though, I can't imagine it'll be very busy with everyone else waiting until Hyperia opens!
@coaster_shark I will certainly see about that deal, thank you. We've never been to Thorpe so we are excited to visit for the first time and do everything. We also have a few days booked for Energylandia in June and Europa Park in October. Talk about the dream year!! 😁

The track is the simple part ....loads of stuff too do still to insure its safe ......they shouldn't of put the date out yet ....only takes 1 problem and its delayed

Because there still alot to do, workers are working on the track still, trains not arrived, then they need nearly a month of testing, can't just send people on a untested coaster, also with it being thorpe parks birthday so soon only makes sense to open it that day

2:30 B&M also own the patent to a scoop powered splashdown so mack would also have to license this
