I'm so happy you're checking out this series, they're all masterpieces. Also, "Many unbearable hours later." That one key took me a week to find, even with a walkthrough.
9:31 That Staff is the cane of Sly Cooper, a PlayStation 2 steath game franchise about a thieving raccoon, and one of my favorite games as a kid. I recommend looking into it.
Both I and my daughter love Terminal Montage's stuff. We have shirts of some of his creations. I'm so glad you reacted to this; you'll love his other videos.
For Dark Link you can try to spam attack without locking on to him, but it's kinda 50/50. I _think_ deku nuts can stun him for a bit? I don't remember cause I barely ever used them other than to force the forest temple ghosts reappear. More effective tactics are either use the spin attack, biggoron sword or megaton hammer (if I'm not mistaken he's entirely unable to block the hammer). I personally always used the biggoron sword so that's what I went with, but the hammer is the easiest way to cheese the fight. The real pain was that Dark Link's health mirrored your own (as in, your own total number of hearts) so if you had a max of 5 hearts he would die in 5 hits. But if you had unlocked a lot of hearts... Another gimmick of the fight is that he starts out semi transparent and slowly becomes clearer. At first he only mirrors your inputs, but once he's fully visible he starts attacking on his own (on top of still mirroring you)
If you watch the rest of the series, please please PLEASE turn on captions, you won't regret it. They're custom made for these videos and they are HILARIOUS. (also, the way I usually beat Dark Link is by using Din's fire and the megaton hammer. Is it cheese? Yes. Does it work? Also yes.)
It's amazing how many rooms I recognized, how much of the layout I remember, despite having not played ocarina of time for the better part of a decade. Goofy nonsense aside they did such a great job of recreating the water temple. And god...I know the pain of missing that one key so well.
Everyone needs to watch that vid with subtitles on. It makes it so much funnier because there's added "script" of sorts, like from the little jumpy things in the water temple, as well as a thing about stress and its effects on the body when Link is looking for the last key.
It does not matter either to how many times you've played through the game and gone through the WT, you will ALWAYS forget at least one key somewhere in a room you have likely already been.
Having never played the game, I loved watching you commiserate with the frustration. I've played enough Zelda in general to know that before the internet, it was a completely different experience figuring out puzzles. Thank you for such a fun watch.
I thought i had somehow missed your reactions to one of my favorite series on TH-cam! I would absolutely love to see you watch at least the OoT videos and hopefully more of his stuff too. In a lot of the videos, there's cute and funny things hidden in the captions so definitely recommend having those on if you do continue these!
Terminal Montage is a lot of fun. All videos have one (sometimes two) post-credit scenes (which you missed for this video) that tend to link together and form arcing narratives. One big arc culminated with the Subspace Emissary episode. If you want to get the most out of those narratives, you may want to watch them in order and don’t miss the post-credit scenes. And note, the characters are his versions of the characters. Have fun!
you have to react to this again with the subtitles on because they put hidden messages in there. Also at 10:50 shadow Link was easy just don't lock on and then spam attacks and spin attacks and shadow won't block.
You should totally do gaming videos of you playing LoZ games as they come out! I would've loved to see you play ToTK. Or even re-plays of older games like Ocarina!
I would definitely recommend watching the whole channel's Something About series from the beginning. Not only will it add content to your channel, but then you'd get references like the animator's love for Geno from Super Mario RPG, especially Geno's costume in 9:32.
I think my favorite jokes are the item change in the pause menu every time it's brought up, like at 4:20(original video time) when the blue tunic is changed to Alice dress in Alalice Madness Returns. Also, for Dark Link, apparently he would also copy your life bar when you enter the fight, so you could enter low life and make the fight easy. Never got to test it tho.
The art style reminds me of Starcrafts (Starcraft parody video series). Those make jokes of common multiplayer interactions though, like zerglings zipping around and bullying other units, which in Starcrafts is depicted as zerglings being puppies that play very rough with their friends
Others have probably said but the "staff" was from Sly Cooper. For Dark Link when I first played it I resorted to using Din's Fire over and over to kill him. The Megaton Hammer works nicely if you don't lock into him. And several years ago when I was practising for a Speedrun I challenged myself with a "No Hit, No Shield, Dark Link Master Sword only" Which is one of the most difficult things I have done in gaming and something I am very proud of. Glad you enjoyed this. I thought it was really funny too and perfectly encapsulated the experience of this Temple.
There's a trick to the shadow link fight: don't lock on and it suddenly becomes much easier (still not easy but he doesn't perfectly copy or counter literally all your moves). He hard counters both lock on and most items.
yes! you should react to his other zelda vids, they’re both absolutely hilarious but also weirdly accurate to how it feels to play. (also highly recommend watching with cc turned on for fun commentary). i’d love for you to react for the channel but even if you don’t you should still watch them because they’re an amazing love letter to the franchise. i got an n64 for my 6th birthday and zelda was my first console game, first fandom, and i’ve played it ever since
The main reason so many, including myself in the 90's developed anxiety from water levels. Ocarnia of Time's Water Temples are up there with Sonic and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Now I suggest this knowing full well how few people react to it, but various videos by JelloApocalypse would be amazing and even if you don’t do a video on them I think you’d love them. And Jello deserves so much more recognition than just for his “This is Basically…” series. Specifically his “Pokémon Dogs in Love” parts 1 & 2, “Sky Pirate Girlfriends”, and “Are You Ready To Buy?” videos are comedy gold.

Okay if your gonna be diving into the world of TerminalMontage theres some things you should be aware of: 1. The Something About series is multiple seasons long at this point, and across nearly every entry, even the small ones, theres an ongoing narrative. If you want to truly appreciate that narrative I recommend starting at the beginning and making sure you watch the post credits scenes. The seasonal recaps can be skipped, but there are a few shorter vids that are kinda important (one of ems like 6 seconds long if i recall). 2. A a couple years ago TM dropped Something About the Subspace Emissary, covering the story mode for Super Smash Bros Brawl, and a bunch of people unfamiliar with the series did reactions for it pretty much just cause it was a cool animation that was trending. However, this version is barely anything like the actual game because it was actually meant to be this grand finale to an arc that had been building up for 3 seasons, so most people were completely lost as to whats happening. You’re lucky, as the Water Temple vid is relatively self contained to just the ongoing Ocarina of Time mini-series, and doesnt contain any massive wider series spoilers. 3. With how popular the series has gotten hes probably indifferent now, but in the past TM has been… not fond of people doing reactions to his videos. He has been known to give people permission sometimes if they ask directly though, so it might be worth doing that just a courtesy. All that being said, enjoy the madness!

10:46 I just used Din's Fire. It's so interesting seeing no one SPAM Din's Fire but its a sure fire way to win against Dark Link and even the Iron Knuckles.
TerminalMontage has done the fire temple, forest, water, 3 spiritual stones which is basically the first video they did if I remember, tears of kingdom, and breath of the wild.
How I beat Shadow Link was after 20 minutes of me dancing around with him. I had so little health left and I gotten so dejected that I stopped using my sword. I brought out the megaton hammer and just kept swinging. I won but just barely. I had like a sliver of health left, I found hearts shortly after but still. My memories of that are still very clear. 6:50 I think the animation you are refering to is "The Real Legend of Zelda", uploaded to TH-cam by a channel called TineTinTi. I also used to watch it way back when.
The 3DS remake of Ocarine of Time made the Water Temple a lot more bearable. The biggest quality of life change was that the Iron Boots (and Hover Boots) were changed to basic equippable items, so you can put them on and off at the press of a button! The other things they did were color code the symbols that change the water level, and add a cutscene showing the secret path here (8:48).

Yeah most of the videos have a post credits. My personal favourite TerminalMontage videos are Something About Super Metroid Animated Speedrun (If you ever watch it there's a multiple choice ending where you choose which one from the ending thumbnails) and the recent Donkey Kong Country 2 video. Extremely nostalgic.
I really hope that you react to the series and videos that this channel has, you are going to have a lot of fun with its parodies or as they also call it "something about".

YES! I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SAY THAT
My childhood strategy for the Dark Link fight was to use Din's fire and bring a bunch of green potions to refil my magic meter.
For Dark Link you can try to spam attack without locking on to him, but it's kinda 50/50. I _think_ deku nuts can stun him for a bit? I don't remember cause I barely ever used them other than to force the forest temple ghosts reappear.
