Chris is a hard act to follow- his RICK` sound was unique ,reminds me of THE Manavishnu Orchestra, formed by John McLaughlin guitarist extraordinaire, who I tried to see every time they were in London. Once supporting Yes , and one supporting Santana. if my memory is right back around `72-75
Now that you experience and context with YES,, I hope React to early YES from their first two albums with original guitarist and keyboardist. It great to hear their roots to know their evolution.
A lot of people were down on this album it came out after going for the one it is one of my favorites and this song kicks ass RIP Chris squire but he was my favorite bass player of all time
Been waiting for you to react to this one Pope! A psychedelic, geniously produced masterpiece! One of my favorites! You need to start checking out the 'Magnification' album. 'Spirit of Survival', 'Give Love Each Day', 'Dreamtime' and 'In The Presence Of' are all must listens. YES is the greatest band of all time and the greatest who will ever be!
Chris loved to use the Wah-wah pedal, which he never stopped using in this one. Has an awesome effect on this song!.(I thought I also hear Steve Howe using a wah-wah himself at one point?)
Songs like this that I don't even remember listening to years ago become alive and better than ever when watched with you. Always. Your insightfulness is spot on.
Hey POPE, wanted you to know how much I've enjoyed watching your journey into Prog Rock. I grew up listening to Yes, Genisis, ELP and Tull. Watching you enjoy this music is just wonderful . Keep it up my friend!!!!
If you haven't already, please react to Yes's "Arriving UFO" from the same album as Silent Wings. It will blow your mind...especially the flawless guitar solo from Steve Howe.
A few people say that album was engineered badly. I disagree. It was a new direction sonicallly. Future Times/Rejoice is one of my favorite sleepers on that album.

I don't know why it doesn't get the same love as other classic Yes albums from the seventies but to me, _Tormato_ represented the end of an era. The classic lineup would not be together again until 1996's _Keys to Ascension._
No excuse for a band like Yes releasing a poorly produced album at their peak. It all sounded like it was a rush release after GFTO, hence many average unlike Yes tracks. Album saved by Squire's brilliant last 2 cuts.
Check out Chris Squire's story about how he grew up in an all white neighbourhood back in the 60's and when YES first started the were a support band and one night they turned up and instead of the usual headline act there were several black guys on the stage setting up and he asked the manager what was going on and the manager replied that these are the guys that I've been told to book as the headline act. To his surprise the guy who was obviously the leader started chatting to Chris and it turned out that he was none other than Jimmy Hendrix. So he said that the first black person that he ever spoke to was the great man himself. What a story
Another prog-rock band worth checking out is King Crimson, their song "21st Century Schizoid Man" is still relevant and devastating. And how about a double reaction of Simon & Garfunkel: America, and the cover version of this song by the Yes? Both amazing!
Jon Anderson and Yes is also my favorite band, and they have been for over 50 years. I'm envious of you for all of the great Yes music that you still have to hear. I think that the next track on the album is a song called Release Release. It's beyond fire and one of my all time favorites.
Another fantastic Yes reaction! You need to check out songs from their first two albums, Yes and Time and A Word. The songs "Astral Traveller", "Everydays" and "No Opportunity Needed, No Experience Necessary", especially.
the magic instrument sound you are referring to is actually Steve Howe's guitar! his flange or chorus effect on his guitar gives that magical sound. Its almost like Wakemans keyboard sound. They are incredible.
This was the closing track on Tormato from 1978, and a real banger. The whole intro always makes me feel like I am flying, and Howe's cascading guitar parts feel like flocks of birds as you are flying along. It seemed as though this was going to be the last YES album because of Jon and Rick's departure, but Chris, Steve and Alan worked in a new incarnation with DRAMA, the follow-up, which you delved into. I recommend diving into 'Tormato', mainly because reactions were very polarized. I would like to see how you feel about it because you really 'get' YES. I think the songs were great and they were in great form as players, but the main issue i think were the production choices. Alot of effects, and alot of bright tones in the high register thoughout the album. Love to know what you think of this controversial album.
If you enjoyed this you will love the album opener "Future Times/Rejoice" and the last track on side one "Release Release". Also check out Rick Wakeman's "Merlin the Magician" which did pretty well on the radio in the mid 70's, beautiful melodies and Rick plays the most amazingly scintillating mini moog solos.
Ladles and gentlemen Chris Squire a choir boy who played the greatest bass the bottom end was ever blessed with. Long Distance turn a round? Now that was funny Pope.✌️ For a new listen try Strawbs aband Rick Wakeman played in and the song called Hero And The Heroine from the album called Hero And The Heroine lol. Enjoy.
I think you'll like Rick Wakeman's albums "Six Wives of Henry the VIII" and "The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table". This just came to mind as you were rockin out to the end of this song where Rick is rockin out hard on his keyboards.

11:42 I've listened to every song by Yes. It took a while to listen to all of their later music, but I finally did it a couple years ago. I can tell you that YES does have some mediocre songs, and even a few that are bad, but they've got maybe 100 or more that are great, so enjoy, but here's some reaction requests for you: YES: Anything from their first 2 albums. I want to see what you think of early Yes. I know you've listened to a couple already. Jon didn't think he sang good on those first 2 albums. No clue why he said that, cause he sang great. U.K.: This group put out only 2 albums, and half the band left after the first, but their first album is considered to be one of the greatest Prog Rock albums of all time, and with Bill Bruford on the drums, I'm sure you'll love it. The first piece is a 3-part 13 minute Suite, called 'In the Dead of Night'. Part 2 is called 'By the Light of Day' and part 3 is called 'Presto Vivace and Reprise'. Every piece of music on this album is great. ELP: Just like with Yes, I recommend you go back to the beginning with ELP, and listen to their first song, 'Barbarian'. It really sets the tone for who and what they are as a music group. RUSH: It looks like you haven't reacted to the studio version of 'La Villa Strangiato'. After you listen to it, if you haven't already, check out the background on this piece. It's pretty incredible stuff.
Another epic Yes track and another epic Pope reaction!. You're keeping these great sounds alive my friend and as always, it's fun to see you appreciate them from the heart. Yes, live every moment because they are precious. And now some Yes suggestions to put in the hat for your future listening: "South Side Of The Sky", "Sweet Dreams" and "Astral Traveller". Enjoy!. Peace and Love. :-)
Hay Pope - Please PLEASE check out Yes's "That That Is" from the 1997 album Keys To Ascension. This was the last truly prog-ROCK piece by Yes before the main members (Anderson Howe Wakeman Squire and White) broke up. Among all those who have 'Reacted' to Yes's music I know you will enjoy this the most!!
He is also doing a Yes Epics tour with the Band Geeks as his band. If you’ve never seen them, look up their covers on TH-cam - especially of Yes material. Their cover of Close To The Edge is EPIC.
Some other Yes tracks for you to react to are FOOTPRINTS and BE THE ONE from the KeyStudio album and MAGNIFICATION, SPIRIT OF SURVIVAL, CAN YOU IMAGINE and DREAMTIME from the Magnification album. Rick Wakeman couldn’t play on the Magnification album due to other commitments so an orchestra was used instead but it’s a great album.
Would you listen to "Homeland," from The Ladder? "In the Presence Of," from Magnification? Lots more Yes to listen to--you won't run out of songs for a long time. My favorite band and singer too.
This is my personal favorite on Tormato. So glad you chose this one! The visuals were out of this world. Yes is my #2 behind Rush. Another great song from this album is Don’t Kill the Whale. I think you’d appreciate that one! Also looking forward to your reaction to A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers by Van der Graaf Generator. Keep ‘em coming, Pope! 😄
OK, so arguably Yes's most famous/popular album is Fragile. Half of Fragile is the "full band" songs, the other half are the "solo" tracks, conceived and executed by each member of the band. Some of these "solo" tracks are performed with the help of other members of the band playing backing tracks, but still showcasing the performance of the one member. Two of them (Rick Wakeman and Steve Howe's contributions) are purely solo ~ performed by them alone. I bring this up because you have already done the four full band tracks from Fragile ~ Roundabout, South Side Of The Sky, Long Distance Runaround, and Heart Of The Sunrise. You have also done Chris Squire's solo contribution, The Fish, as it segues out of Long Distance Runaround So, what if you did a last video, rounding up all the rest of the solo pieces from Fragile. Most if them are not terribly long. These remaining pieces are Cans And Brahms (Rick Wakeman), We Have Heaven (Jon Anderson), Five Percent For Nothing (Bill Bruford), and Mood For A Day (Steve Howe). Just a thought * side note ~ you have heard an excerpt of We Have Heaven, briefly, as they tacked it on as a coda after Heart Of The Sunrise on later editions of the album, and it appeared at the end of that particular video you watched
Thanks, Aaron, for these thoughts of yours. I wholeheartedly agree! Just thought I'd enhance your knowledge just a tiny bit by commenting that the "We Have Heaven" coda is very much an important part of the ORIGINAL 1971 album. It serves as an awesome kind of bookend of the majority of the album including the tracks We Have Heaven, South Side of the Sky, etc. through to the end of the album. This scenario also includes the shutting of a door at the end of the first part of "We Have Heaven" and then the door opening up again at the beginning of the last part of "We Have Heaven" at the end of the album. Very prog, and a very big reason why this album should be listened to in its entirety all the way through.
I don't think there are any real bad YES songs. The first YES song I played for my girlfriend was "Don't Kill the Whale". She's a vegetarian and loved that there was a group singing about saving the whales. After that she became a big YES fan. Check it out. It's not that long.
Se me olvido decir que el punteo de sintetizador del final es un duende saltarin .Y que RANTAMPLAN seguro que tambien lo dice el .Y que no oire un tema a la altura de este ni viviendo mil años .
Easily the best track on the so-so Tormato. Wakeman's synths have not aged well, a kind of cheap casio quality to them - the polymoog solos in particular, but the track remains one of the best post-Relayer pieces, the finale is quite something.
It's a shame the production of the Tomato album was so awful. Wakeman's keyboard sounds were terrible. This song came to life on the 1978 tour with an extended bass guitar intro and much heavier sound. I'd love to hear a remixed and updated version but sadly - apparently - the master tapes cannot be found.
Dude , you are awesome ! Love your attitude regarding Yes .

Steve howe is the greatest rock guitarist. Challenge me.
One of the ok tracks from a dire album that turned me off Yes after years of loving everything they released.
You have a shitload of Yes tunes to go.
