Hey man there’s a new Yes album and with it is a new Yes epic. I highly suggest the 13 minute song “Mirror to the Sky” if you’re willing to try out some new yes
Finally BRAVO!!!! One of their most overlooked MASTERPIECES. Best YESSONG of the 90s post 70s EPICS. I love that the lyrics are clear and direct, giving us YES"S most overt spiritual wisdom. LIVE FOR THE BREAKING FREE!
The closing couple of minutes is a ROCKET RIDE! I'm excited to see you get there. You're gonna go nuts! There's a Yes album from 1989 where they weren't called "Yes" (for legal reasons). The band (and the album) is called "Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe," and you need to check out a song called "Order of the Universe!"
Nobody and I mean _nobody_ writes lyrics like Jon Anderson. He is a master at what he does. 1996 saw the losses of Trevor Rabin and Tony Kaye after the Yes _Talk_ tour and their replacements were Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman. Now you have the classic lineup back together for the first time since 1979. So what do they do? They go back to form and started writing Prog music again! The _Keys to Ascension_ albums have some of the finest Yes music since their 70s days of yore. Great reaction, Pope! I look forward to future Yes reactions on your channel! 😉👌🎵🎶🎵
Oh boy, I'm strapping myself in for this one. Of all there EPIC pieces (15+ minutes in length), I think this one is the most unique. I would never have expected YES to sound like this... and I love it.
Totally forgot about this song!!! I can remember being all excited to have picked up the CD, popped it in, and when it got to the Julie's crack baby part I thought "Oh Jon...". But then it just doesn't let up until it blasts off into space... Almost like it could have been an unreleased track from Drama (or maybe Tormato?). So heavy.
22:30 Middle-aged guy here --- my girlfriend asked me the other day: "What's your favorite band?". I had to answer: "Yes", but of course then you have to talk about "Owner of a Lonely Heart". Eventually I get to the part about the lyrics, and explain to her that "the lyrics are like colors used as part of a sound painting". That's the point where you want to go: "Have you ever done mushrooms?" If I'd seen this video, I could have just shown her this part where you explain it pretty succinctly. 😂
This is an underappreciated epic YES song that not many have reacted to. Glad you got to experience it. Here's a short one I don't think you heard. "Don't kill the Whale".
First of all, God bless you for having the balls to listen to obscure pieces.Second, realize this song is not normal. Even for them. They took so many chances with their music, over 50 YEARS. And were cancelled from their labels many times. They are the definition of musical integrity. Do you really think for one moment that their labels wanted this. they didn't give a shit. And they then created this piece of incredible music. They knew this would never be heard by anybody besides Yes fans. They do not make songs. They make MASTER COMPOSITIONS. They did commercial music too. But NOBODY , even in the world of prog , has created as many epics. I guess that people say they want greatness, but then regress to the mean. But if they are exposed to it, they love it. But unfortunately, they never get a chance to hear it. So sad. Thank you for spreading it.
I AM THRILLED that you trust me enough to give you this request which is probably going to be the best experience of Yes you are going to EVER experience.....the song or composition is from the Keys of Ascension album, released in 1996....The whole album is A MONSTER MASTERPIECE!!! IT IS DOPE!!! So...I am going to sit back and enjoy your reaction.
could you react to one of my favorite albums of all time if you haven’t heard it already. it’s called “in the aeroplane over the sea.” ive watched through a few of your reactions to some songs/albums and I think we have quite similar taste, so I really think you’d like this album. I could provide more details about it if you’d like 😁
Just heard Yes new song, "Mirror of The Sky" from their new album, "Mirror in The Sky," it is a great song...not as great as their 70's Masterpieces....but really good....there is no Jon Anderson due to illness or Chris Squire due to death or Alan White or Rick Wakeman, but Steve Howe is on this album and a lot of talented musicians that give you that Yes signature quality!!! Check it out!!! It is Fire!!!
It’s a classic! The version with Trevor Horn (writer) on lead vocals is the better of the two. Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes co wrote the song and was part of the Drama era songs. Geoff Downes is keyboards player for Yes.
Yep. Release, release rocks ass. I'd place it on a mix with the fish, heart of the sunrise, sound chaser.........machine messiah. They had plenty of mustard for those ones. I think one track that gets overlooked but is very powerful is holy lamb, last track on Big Generator. If I'm bold enough to sing along it is in short broken increments lest I weep in some ratio of sorrow and joy.
Pope.. had a group chat with Jon Anderson, we asked him what the lyrics meant in Close to the Edge, he said, "I don't know, I was really stoned at the time!"
Awesome tune. 😊 Yes just dropped a new album last week. Granted, they’re just not the same without Jon Anderson, but the title track “Mirror to the Sky” is well worth a listen.
Great reaction video Pope, GOD has the answers & Jon’s asking the questions, it’s wonderful to see you discovering YES who I’ve been listening too since 1969, thank-you for let us share your journey!!!
Jon brother Tony is a retired Christian Pastor who believes Jon who’s very Spiritual believes his brother is going declare himself to be a Christian real soon.
Jon's been pointing to the Savior indirecly for 50 years. Granted so much of his lyric content is very obscure and sounds like he's deep into drugs but he's always resurfaced from it with seriously spiritual stuff that gets you into the presence of God Almighty and his wonderful Son. The golden path is always there.
Pope is the man!!! The best Yes reactor. ❤️❤️❤️
When Pope reacting to Yes, everyone knows... We got a very special video today. 💚

... and of course, the corresponding live album "An Evening of Yes Music Plus", which to me, is one of Yes' best live albums.

@@jeffschielka7845 Thank you, Jeff. Appreciate it.
The mother of all. YES
Remarkable attention to detail always transfers the intended message .
This one - yet again - meets their extensive inventory at the highest level .

Do" Fly From Here". Even though it doesn`t have Jon. Think Drama album.

You gotta get started watching some bangers from Gentle Giant. Free Hand Live, Advent of Panurge, Mister Class and Quality
btw...this is the short version on this video.....long version from this studio album.
50th ANNIVERSARY of the release of "CLOSE TO THE EDGE" !!!!!
