Good morning Leon, I am a foreigner very enthusiastic about doing a master's degree in data science in the UK with the profile you described. For example, I find it very important that the master's degree is based on Python and I am preparing myself to handle this programming language. However, there are too many masters and universities in the UK, which universities do you suggest? I have a bachelor's degree in economics so I am looking to specialise in data science to use big data in the development of public projects. Glasgow University is my first choice for now, what do you think?

It's hard for me to suggest any universities besides my own, as that's the one I studied at. I can only suggest doing your own research on what the course offers and whether it matches with your interests and needs.

In the process of applying for masters and have 2 questions if you can help me out Leon.
Durham and Manchester both have 5+ data science masters to choose from depending on which area you want to specialise in i.e urban analytics, social analytics etc.
    1. Any thoughts on those? I know they're not the hardcore maths true data science courses. I'm applying to both for their masters in data science (social analytics)
    2. What's your opinion on Leeds' msc in business analytics and decision science / msc consumer analytics and marketing strategy.
They interested me also but I feel the data science title would be better long term whether I stay in analytics or with a lot of work and experience push to be an 'actual' data scientist
    Thanks in advance bro 😄

No problem Ali, here's my answers to those questions:
      1. It really depends on what you want to do as a career. I'd say just make sure to check through the course content and be confident that it covers the fundamentals (basic stats, ML if that's what you want to do, data systems, etc.). I.e. if social analytics is the direction you want to go in, do the modules cover the fundamentals for this area? I can't really answer that as each field is different. On the contrary, if you wanted to be more generalised by the time you graduate, then a good foundation in maths is unavoidable (especially in stats).
      2. In my case, I went with a pure data science master's for the same reason (to be an "actual" data scientist). However, I knew a few people who did the business analytics / consumer analytics masters and ended up working as analysts. Some were aiming to be data scientists, and that possibility is still open to them down the line.
      Hope that helps mate!

Hey.. Thank you for the information.
Which university would you suggest for data science? University of Leeds, Brunel University or University of Strathclyde?

Thanks for watching! I'm obviously biased, so I'd say University of Leeds would be a great choice. I liked the course and the university has a big campus that's relatively close to the city centre. As for the other universities, it really depends on the course, university campus and the city itself.

How is the salary as a Data Scientist from starting to experienced senior level?

That's really hard to answer. It depends on a lot of factors but there can definitely be quite a big difference from starting to senior level. I'd recommend looking on websites like PayScale, LinkedIn or Glassdoor for more information.
