Midna shattering the portal is even more tragic in the Manga (yes, there is an official manga it ended around a year ago) where her and Link's relationship is more than platonic and actually turns romantic. Before she leaves through the portal she kisses Link and then shoves him back, then the portal shatters.
I think Shattering the Mirror of Twilight should have been at least Lawful Neutral. It sucks that Midna can not come back with the connection broken but she is taking responsibility to make sure an incident like this one doesn't happen again in the future. She is doing this for entirely selfless reasons quite possible even at her own expense because I am sure she would want to continue hanging out with Link and Zelda but believes this will protect them.
@@firenze6478 She also saw how magic from her world had a negative effect on creatures in Hyrule like the Patriarch of the Gorons and Yeta turning into monsters due to exposure to the Fused Shadow and the Mirror Shard.
Which is dumb thinking on it : This wasn't the first time Hyrule is threatened of total destruction and it won't be the last one ! It's a sword cutting through water.
I feel it should be mentioned that upon killing Zant Midna was horrified how she had only used a fraction of the fused shadows power and popped Zant like a balloon. So it's a little unclear what her intent may have been. Perhaps all she wanted to do was incapacitate Zant, pin him to the throne or simply hurt him. Admittedly she was angry and probably wanted to kill him, but I feel the fact that she unintentionally destroyed Zant should be considered in the Alignment Ding. Maybe not Chaotic Evil though I'm unsure what else to say it was.
Harmful (non lethal (at least, not intended)) retribution to someone who betrayed and cursed her... I'd say it's on neutral evil because yes, se did NOT intednded to kill, that's preety clear for the dialogue immediatly after... but what's also clear is that she acted on (almost) blind rage... hurting somebody to temper your rage can't be good aligned, no matter how righteous the action is, so we are left with Neutral and Evil, at the same time acting purely on emotion, almost without thinking can't be lawfull as that kind of demeanor just ignores all possible self imposed system, so we are left with Neutral and Chaotic... and I vouch that it can not be chaotic because Midna explicitly says that she only used a fraction of her avalible power so even in her mental state at that exact moment, she tried to restrain herself as much as she could, knowing that she had a powerful artifact but (clearly) not knowing HOW powerful in any case, we are left with True Neutral and Neutral Evil... and well, this is a case of objective intent vs reality and results... no matter how much she wanted to restrain herself nor how in her right mind or not she was, she ended up brutally kiling someone, yes, that someone was Zant, but take a look at Link that also had every right to kill Zant AND had a wapon infused with the ""Sun"" of the twili (and strong against Evil Magic like ganondorfs for obvious reasons) still he damaged Zant in a way that would not kill him from the very begining, and we have to rimember the one is, well, one darkest Links of them all (not talking about thematically, but in personality, as he for example, even if only for a few seconds, was tempted with the power of the Fused Shadow), but I'm getting side tracked, my point is that during her retaliation she chosed direct harm when she could had chosed curses or sealing or EVEN TORTURE and that would've been True Neutral by the law of "an eye of an eye" which is based on equivalent exchange... doing as much harm, maybe less but never more that what you recieved Finally that direct harm ended in Zant's death plus she attacked a downed opponent, the devil is in the details, and the evil is there took, just waiting behind a convinient D...
@@NMC213 I agree with Neutral Evil I just think that Chaotic Evil was a step too far given even in her rage she restrained herself even though that still resulted in Zant's death because Midna had no idea just how strong the fused shadows were.
Midna is hands down my favorite companion throughout the entire Legend of Zelda franchise. She has her own personality and goals, she's very funny, she has character development and she has a role besides aiding Link in battle.
ya she is a actual character most of the characters in most zelda games are basic level npcs even zelda in many games doesn't have much of a role in the plot least not directly
Midna's prejudices are likely something that was taught to her by her parents and it is very interesting how her opinion changes with her experience as Link's companion.
Midna shattering the mirror makes sense given how it was used for evil before and she was most likely trying to ensure it wouldn't be used that way ever again.
I kinda want to say Midna shattering the Mirror of Twilight is a Neutral or Lawful Neutral act. She might be doing for more personal reasons, but one could also argue that she wants to prevent the Evil of both Hyrule and the Twilight Realm from ever crossing again, as she saw first hand what happened when the Sages banished Ganondorf into the Twilight Realm without a second thought. It allowed Ganondorf to find Zant, grant him power, and caused untold amounts of damage to both worlds. It could be argued she doesn't want the Mirror of Twilight to be the source of anymore problems for either realm, as the Mirror is meant to be a punishment, who is to say that future Hylians or Sages wouldn't use the Mirror again to banish Evil into the Twilight Realm and cause more problems? Or whose to say a Twili who still holds onto that ancient grudge couldn't find their way into the Hyrule and cause problems from there? While both realms could possibly benefit from being connected, they also could suffer from each other's Evils. So Midna could've destroyed the Mirror, so both worlds will never have to deal with the other's issues ever again. Its sad cause she wants to stay, but at the same time, she believes destroying the Mirror is the right thing long term for both worlds.
Which is like a sword cutting through water : there were threats before, there will be after ! But the ending of the manga, and even the very end of the game, make me believe the Hero of Twilight somehow found a way back to the Twilight Realm.
Its been ages since I've played Twilight Princess but I'll never forget Midna's interestingly refreshing character. Thanks for another awesome vid guys 😄
5:34 I don't think the Neutral Evil was valid. A Neutral Evil character would have orchestrated something to exploit him somehow. Like if it were possible, using the power of the twilight to control him or something. But she didn't cause the problem. She was just using what she had to fix it. The twilight was a problem for everyone; getting rid of it doesn't just serve the purpose of making her rich or powerful. Also, stealing something you need to survive when you don't have the ability to pay is definitely chaotic neutral. They didn't burglarize them for everything they had. It was marked as CN, but I don't see how anyone could call that one evil.
4:05 Are you kidding me? Freeing Link and helping him get used to his wolf form is clearly a chaotic *good* deed. 5:40 Assuming she keeps her word, I'ld say *lawfull* evil. 6:55 Mmm, how about *netral* good here? (I almost want to say lawful good, but continuing to be coy is too chaotic.)
I see her shattering the Mirror as a good thing. She would know that all of her people view the light as 'evil' and that they would eventually seek war given the opportunity.
Great video. Midna is definitely one of my favourite characters in the Legend of Zelda franchise. The characters that I think would be fun alignment videos would be Groose (Skyward Sword), Linebeck (Phantom Hourglass), and Vaati (Minish Cap/Four Swords/ Four Swords Adventures). If any of them are covered this fun, sweet. If not, then maybe they could be considered for down the road. Food for thought, and we all know how much Link loves his food. Keep up the good work, Loading Crew. Love your content.
If it wasn't for Midna, this would have probably just been another Zelda game with a fun one off gimmick, but that sassy imp made the game memorable lol
Fi sounds like an interesting alignment video to watch Especially since she has existed throughout the entire Zelda franchise, and is most likely aware of how the timelines split appart
One of my favorite characters of the Zelda series. Midna best girl. Also watching the scene where she just impales Zant was a 10/10. Literally screamed.
I find it interesting that Zelda as franchise is most of the time considered better when it goes off beat. The only time offbeat didn't fire properly was Skyward Sword on the Wii. And while It was the darker tone and Midna's commentary here, It was the third time we had a darker tone from the get go. The other two time were in order of release, Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask.
The best companion character in the Zelda series. Midna is such a fun and spunky character who also has a deeper side to her. Plus she came off more as playful than annoying. Also, I think it would be cool if you did more FF7 characters, like Cloud, Tifa or Aerith. Honestly I think Cloud may be more interesting if we’re going by the OG FF7 but the Remake versions of the FF7 cast definitely have more depth to them. For Zelda characters tho: Groose
She’s easily my favourite. Midna’s Lament is easily one of the saddest pieces of music I’be ever heard. From the start I appreciated that Midna was less than forthcoming and clearly acting on her own agenda. It keeps her from starting out as a subservient NPC and gives her definite if not yet revealed stake in the story that is interesting and elevates her. Like the Tsundere archetype though a bit softer to begin with as she’s more sassy rather than abusive, (though some of her early interactions carry a little sting with them) she keeps a clear divide between Link and herself, Shadow and Light, benefactor and servant. But when she starts to open up, be honest and give some extraneous detail to her endgoal she’s also losing some of her transactional coldness, she gets into what you’re doing and seems genuinely appreciative of your (Link’s) efforts. Culminating in the aftermath of Zant’s ambush you can see that in what she thinks is her last minutes, you can see her true character. Selfless, committed and kind. It’s true that if she dies she still wants Link to finish what they started out of duty, but her resistance to Zelda’s sacrifice shows that she clearly values her life above her own, at heart she’s kind enough that she doesn’t want Zelda to suffer the consequences for her sake. And following that, it seemed to solidify her resolve but also let her remove that wall she had kept up between the light and the twilight. She’s supportive and helpful, and unlike other companion NPCs, apart from just generally being more helpful, her help feels earned. That she’s an equal partner who is in this quest as much as you are. It feels like every time you talk to her, ask her for help or such it’s a companion or friend asking for a hand, not a mindless master/servant relationship. As much as I think Fi is overhated she’s still guilty of being a servile companion up until the very end, and Navi is much the same way. There’s definitely a genuine partnership that develops over the course of the story and almost every step means as much to Midna as it does to Link. (And if the manga is to be believed, a burgeoning romance that tragically never got to be.) It’s also why it’s kind of jarring and saddening that she shatters the mirror at the end. You kind of feel like now you could make it work, peace has been restored, but you know, and Midna knows that the consequences could be far worse, so as a responsible ruler she must sever the connection, even if it hurts.
Not a huge Zelda fan, but the bully guy from Skyward Sword would be interesting. Given how he's one of the few characters in the series with a redemption arc, more or less.
Your case for the last ding, shattering the mirror, makes it sound more like chaotic good from what I took away from it. it's a preventative measure to prevent bad things from happening, as she saw the bad the of the corruptive powers oft he mirror and fused shadows. As for other characters we'd like to see, I'd enjoy seeing your take on some characters from the Yakuza Series, such as Nishikiyama and Ryuji Goda, or the members of the higurashi no naku koro ni cast.
I see people mentioning the manga and I got to say one of the more interesting tidbits from the official manga is its implied she knew the heroes shade somehow
Doing a D&D Alignment video on Stan from Okage: Shadow King would be pretty interesting. He’s supposed to be evil incarnate, but he’s pretty bad at being evil. He does way more good than evil throughout the game, even though he insists he’s a very evil being.
Do the happy masked salesman! Not because he’s important to the franchise, not because he played too massive of a role in his own game, but just because you caaaaaaan!
You know who I’d like to see in this series? The cast of the princess bride, ie Inigo, Fezzik, and Westley, it would be simple but fun to talk about I think.
The broken mirror is only because nintende don't want to return the character on the future and with the mirror destroy they have an excuse, also until breath of the wild Zelda had a more toxic relation with Link use him just as a tool in the benefit of the kingdoom
I actually agree with you on this entire video, which is odd because alignment being what it is there is usually one or two things that I don’t 100% agree with even if I understand the reasons. But yeah 100% agreement on Midna.
You should totally do a Alignment video for Rimuru Tempest from"that time I got reincarnated as a slime", a arguably diverse character that would be fun to see a video on it also has a movie coming soon as well!^-^
Shattering the mirror is either lawful good or chaotic good Because she recognizes the dangers of keeping it open or usable especially since what happened and as much as she loves link and Zelda she thinks it’s for the best since the only reasons, evil was thwarted because of them three but if anything happens it could be worse version of what happened. Lawful because she did it to protect her realm and citizens. Or chaotic because she didn’t tell link and Zelda despite believing it was for the best. Also 2 character Creepy masks sales man from ocarina and creepy moon game with the masks(sorry i forgot the name). And groose from skyward sword could be fun and quick.
i would have given midnas final ding a chaotic good, its a crazy and almost selfish move to pull considering the conversation they just had but you can see that it hurts her to do it and she's obviously doing it for what she sees as a good reason. she does this with nothing but the best intentions for the whole world, protecting the world from future incidents even if it means never seeing link and zelda again.
" protecting the world from future incidents" which is like a sword cutting through water, this is neither the first time nor the last one there is major incidents on Hyrule. And considering the conversation they just had, like you said, it's more or less non-sensical.
Yooooo my favorite Zelda companion!! Personally I agree with the chaotic neutral starter, and predicted that it'd end around neutral good I'm only disappointed that her only return in the games was in Hyrule warriors, but I do believe her final ding should have been neutral good, as I believe she destroyed the mirror to prevent something like this from ever happening again
i have a theory on the shattering of the mirror. first, i need to point out that the mirror was basically made by the gods when they banished the twili, and yet for some reaosn they made it so that it can only be destroyed by the royalty of the twili while leaving it in the world of light. I thin that midna destroying the mirror is partially symbolic of her, as the leader of her people, letting go of their pain and hate for the light-world and their history, that instead of the twili being defined by what happened to them, they will now move forwards as themselves, unbound to the light world. and it's as much to protect what remains of her people as it is to protect the light world.
Umm.. is there any versions of the Zelda characters in the manga adaptions the most worth looking at as their own video? I haven't read the manga so I don't know how they differ?
I’d like to see ya do Impa or Lana & Cia from Hyrule Warriors. Midna was awesome and meeting her and Zant in HW got me almost excited enough to play TP. Hands down those two were some of my favorite characters to meet in HW
Hey TLC: Around roughly a year ago y'all had posted a video saying you weren't gonna do any more alignment videos, and that you were gonna finish the last couple you were working on and that was it. It kinda sucked for me when that video dropped, as these videos are the #1 reason I had subscribed to you in the first place. I never unsubscribed, but I did lose interest in the channel and it kinda fell off my radar, plus my wife and I were focused on moving to a new state and I just fell out of touch with your channels existence. Today, to my delight, I saw this video and I sat there thinking, "wtf, I thought they were done with these???", and I now have a years worth of the content you have made with the alignment videos for me to binge. I'm extremely happy you didn't give up on this, and I hope the both of you continue to do well and your channel to grow!
What would you even do for Fi? Neutral, neutral, neutral *good*, neutral. At that point you’d be better off just doing a skyward sword review and giving a ding for Fi as a side thing. Fi isn’t a character, it’s a plot device at best.
On the subject of people to do another zelda allignment video on lets talk about the champions of breath of the wild. Now breath of the wild itself doesn't give us much go work on but we can assume some of these events can be seen as a split in the timeline. After all its said that age of calamity is canon, just not to the main timeline and it actually splits the timeline, well again. Every champion is probably not worth a video on their own so as a group they show be done. Revali is kind of a strange case as he's the "are we sure about this one? He may be the legendary hero but he hasn't shown actual proof. What makes this kid more worthy that you or i. Or any hard worker for that matter" that's basically hus character when looked at when he talks about link. Now as for urbosa, mipha, and daruk; I guess they kinda just roll with it. Now I think the fact that the game kinda rewrites breath of the wild slightly. Gor example the ex memories show how each champion was recruited or introduced, but these seem tobe because terreko time traveled and probably created a small ripple in the order of events. Harbinger ganon is just a time revenant of Terreko possessed by ganons malice and the Terreko we know and rebuilt is the 2nd one that appears in the timeline. Also on that subject king rhoam does die but hes not exactly a champion. Now I'd say king rhoam is lawful stupid. Lawful because of his role and genuine care for the people but stupid because he literally has all the information he needs at his finger tips in the Royal library, all hyrule problems could have been solved if he just research how each zelda got their powers beyond just the divine origin.
Growing to care for Link is an understatement. It is heavily implied that Midna fell in love with Link.
In the manga she did, she kisses him before going through the portal.
Mother fucker barley speaks and gets all the girls were as I barely speak and am nice to everyone only to get escorted out the party I was invited to
I'm pretty sure it's after he saves her life. She gets considerably nicer and a little flirty.
Damn right!

I see people mentioning the manga and I got to say one of the more interesting tidbits from the official manga is its implied she knew the heroes shade somehow
Midna, the incarnation of the Chaotic Fun archetype. X)
I would like to see an analysis of Asura from Asura's Wrath
Doing a D&D Alignment video on Stan from Okage: Shadow King would be pretty interesting. He’s supposed to be evil incarnate, but he’s pretty bad at being evil. He does way more good than evil throughout the game, even though he insists he’s a very evil being.
I love midna and I’m so happy to see what happens next with this series!!!
With the one year anniversary of Arcane now past us, you NEED to do Silco already. And Cait.
Midna's alignment? The sexy kind. 😎
Do the happy masked salesman! Not because he’s important to the franchise, not because he played too massive of a role in his own game, but just because you caaaaaaan!
this video was awesome i’m so excited for this , midna is one of my absolute favorite zelda characters, can’t wait for tingle
You know who I’d like to see in this series? The cast of the princess bride, ie Inigo, Fezzik, and Westley, it would be simple but fun to talk about I think.
I love this style of character analysis! Plus the stuff you have above the screen next to the dice! DnD equivalent terminology is always a win!
Actually got notified in 5 mins? Wow TH-cam actually did it’s job and told me what’s up.
14:50
Ganondorf. You have have done both Zelda and link so ganondorf just so you have done the all the triforce holders.
Midna’s good…but she ain’t my main man Linebeck. Great video as always and love the analysis.
Would _love_ to see an alignment video on Linebeck from Phantom Hourglass.
I go back and forth over weather Midna was better written or King of Red Lions, speaking of which that would also be a good alignment video
I think the voiced narration from Hyrule Warriors pronounces Twili like Twilight, and it certainly makes sense given they're the people of Twilight.
Linebeck! After Midna, no companion has as much character as Linebeck from Phantom Hourglass
Now this is the video I've been waiting for!
You should totally do a Alignment video for Rimuru Tempest from"that time I got reincarnated as a slime", a arguably diverse character that would be fun to see a video on it also has a movie coming soon as well!^-^
FUN FACT: Pact of the Chain Warlocks can summon Midna.
WHAT DID HE SAAAAAY, thank you for this new sound bit, you have earned a (this is a maybe) twitch follow
Best character = faster click in the west
I think Fi would be interesting since she’s also one of my favorite characters
Honestly, depending on what the motivation for the destruction of the mirror was, I could see any alignment ding being the case.
Since you like Hyrule Warrior, you should do Linkle's D&D Alignement.
This is a good video. I think Ganondorf should be the next Zelda character you guys should look at in terms of alignment
Shattering the mirror is either lawful good or chaotic good
Because she recognizes the dangers of keeping it open or usable especially since what happened and as much as she loves link and Zelda she thinks it’s for the best since the only reasons, evil was thwarted because of them three but if anything happens it could be worse version of what happened.
Lawful because she did it to protect her realm and citizens.
Or chaotic because she didn’t tell link and Zelda despite believing it was for the best.
Also 2 character
Creepy masks sales man from ocarina and creepy moon game with the masks(sorry i forgot the name).
I was kind of expecting her to betray Link when I first played.
You mentioned doing Fi at the end, and I wanna say that her name is pronounced "Fai", as that is her japanese name「ファイ」(Fai)
Skull kid, maybe Daruk from oot?
Maybe the Champions from Age of Calamity
Yooooo my favorite Zelda companion!!
Personally I agree with the chaotic neutral starter, and predicted that it'd end around neutral good
I'm only disappointed that her only return in the games was in Hyrule warriors, but I do believe her final ding should have been neutral good, as I believe she destroyed the mirror to prevent something like this from ever happening again
Mipha next
Ah, a waifu! Excellent taste.
If "Qliphoth" in the DMC alignment vids is any indication, a word being spoken aloud again and again in the source material still wouldn't help, LMAO.
If you want to complete the Triforce trio, how would you go about judging Ganondorf’s alignment?
i have a theory on the shattering of the mirror. first, i need to point out that the mirror was basically made by the gods when they banished the twili, and yet for some reaosn they made it so that it can only be destroyed by the royalty of the twili while leaving it in the world of light.
At last. An analysis on the only good Zelda companion character from the only good Zelda game
Yeah do Fi next haha
I’d like to see ya do Impa or Lana & Cia from Hyrule Warriors. Midna was awesome and meeting her and Zant in HW got me almost excited enough to play TP. Hands down those two were some of my favorite characters to meet in HW
All the sages from oot
Would love to see an alignment video for Seras Victoria.
How about an alignment video on either Wheatley, Glados or Cave Johnson from Portal?
How about doing a video on Linebeck? Is there enough material for that?
*Borat voice* my wife
Good video.
And on the Zelda Villain side: Zant or Vaati.
May I suggest Lana of Hyrule Warriors? It'll also give you a chance to catch up with Midna
I'd like to see an alignment for Ghirahim and Fi together.
Alignment video on Navi, from OoT?
I'd like to see one for Linebeck
What would you even do for Fi? Neutral, neutral, neutral *good*, neutral. At that point you’d be better off just doing a skyward sword review and giving a ding for Fi as a side thing. Fi isn’t a character, it’s a plot device at best.
Dude you should collaborate with peanutbutter gamer and do a video on the happy mask salesman.
Yay shortstack
Can you do some characters from mass effect? Like tali, garrus, Laira.
Trinston was here ..
If you believe in yourself and with a tiny pinch of magic, all your dreams can come true
FINALLY LOOK ITS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE
If you are gonna do non main characters then we need a video on the Groose himself
Give us THE GROOSE!!! That hair if nothing else deserves a video!
