I find the cost of AEM too high. License cost per user seems to work out to be close to a designer's salary in India. How does one justify such high cost? Or are there any work arounds?

Aem is not freely available for download and try. You need to get it only from your company. They will have it if they are adobe partners

We can generate PDFs from aem too with custom code.
What are the prerequisite skill for learning this? As I am from non IT background.
You should know html, js and CSS atleast. Then you should know how sling frameworks in general work.. Aem uses sling frameworks.

Yes it's very costly. It provides some good features but may not be necessary for a single country company. WordPress is good alternative.

I haven't worked on forms but, you can generate QR code using aem and add, check for some reference code.
