Hi. You will be in for a great time! We booked our entire trip through @chinahighlights1 and our guide in Beijing was Gina. We can highly recommend her! Very knowledgable, lovely person and good english. I am not sure about the price as we had it included in a 15 day package tour. Good luck and happy travels!
Male guides around the age of 40 may be the best, as they have a better understanding of history, culture, politics, and the differences between the East and the West. Female guides have a better affinity. Being with them may make you more relaxed, but women may not be very interested in history. In places like the Forbidden City or the Terra Cotta Warriors, if no one explains the story behind them, you can only see a group of lifeless buildings.
