I'm just starting ASL in 2020 and I'm grabbing everything I can. Currently starter kit #2 is sold out but they seem to reprint starter kits frequently so I'll just wait for the next printing. Maybe after I go through every scenario the pandemic will be over, maybe.
It has been over 15 years since I played and now a friend and I are starting to play it again. I have all the SK's and quite a few of the basic sets and 2nd Ed full rules. Thanks for this upload as it helps me get familiar with the turn sequence again.
Thank you for the videos. I'm grateful you actually explain how to set up, using the actual components of the box, not using digital, which is easier to follow for me, and more visually appealing. If it wasn't for the fact I'm playing a Sherwood skirmish game, and will shortly be receiving BoB Screaming Eagles, I would be tempted to set up a scenario for my game. The stacking is still a bit off-putting though😉
+krayt star Not a chance, I will follow through and play the entire scenario. My secret (hush dont tell anyone) plan is really to film my transition from SK to full ASL so keep en eye out for more. I hope to be tackling tanks and guns too. Glad you are interested.
+The Late Night Gamer That's great news. I'm really inerested in the system played from solo player perspectivie. Including some tanks and guns into playthroughs will add a lot to it.
Great video. One thing hint for the game. No big stacks. You want to spread out those troops. If one stack gets a hit and your leader fails morale then all of them take another check. Also when fired upon all of them could break, die whatever. When I was first starting my friend told me about no big stacks and it has helped my game play a lot. Also I guess all the smart players know new players by big stacks. Just something to think about.
Wow, this is the BIG one, isn't it? Funny, but I've been thinking about this game recently. I don't know if I'd be able to learn it, but the system does intrigue me. To scratch the itch, I downloaded, printed, and tried the free Print and Play game Valor & Victory from BGG. It's a much more simplified system, and I found it pretty fun. But I don't deny the magic of ASL, and I don't deny that you'll be able to master it.
+davidlhsl Woha, never knew about the Valor & Victory game! Looks very nice from what I could get from a quick look. Maybe I have to give this a try? Magic of ASL is there for sure, I think I can learn it but master it? LOL with my track record of mastering games I am afraid it´ll take *some* time.
I love SL and ASL. I can't get enough of the games. I download any of the free scenarios and even have some from some of the old Avalon Hill Magazines. I lost some of them from all the moving I have done over the years, but through some fellow gamers I was able to find other scenarios. I was able to get a lot of extra boards too.
Interested in this. I got my brother's old old copy of the original Squad Leader and tried to learn it a bit solo, but would really need to find some friend to try it with. Hoping to get my spark reignited by your videos! (As you have done for many games to me, I've mentioned you atleast once in my videos so far, check out my "new" channel if you've got the time and keep up the great work!) Are you going to do a playthrough of Conflict of Heroes btw? I'm really interested in that :)
+DiceTillDawn Hey nice videos and good luck with your new years resolution :) I was actually planning on doing a CoH-video right about now, but then I was kind of swept away with the ASL stuff. So I guess it is close, always hard to predict though. The original Squad Leader sounds like a gem, you should do a box video of it!
+math4U1234 Yeah, I always like that question :) It is a no-brand Chinese made tongs for feeding reptiles. They are 30 cm long and quite cheap on ebay! I like them a lot so I got a second pair
I have been playing Squad Leader and Advanced Squad Leader since the 1980's and I still love it. I even use the rules when playing Micro Armour. The hard part is I lost some of my instructions for my Advanced Squad Leader. I need the Price list for the American Army in the Advanced Squad Leader. Any help please?
This game needs a complete modern gaming overhaul in the likes of Ghost Panzer and Band of Brothers Screaming Eagles or even Awakening the Bear, this old, old school counters are just ugly.

I am happy if it is of any help for you! I really love ASLSK - Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Thx for video. Please don't stop with the first one. I'm looking forward to the next episode...

+krayt star Lets just not hope I got in over my head there.. :D
Happy ASL year!
+Mikkel Birkegaard Dude, I hope to play other stuff too. And right now I only have the SK1 kit and the rulebook :)
+The Late Night Gamer Looking forward to following your channel, whatever you play ;)
I played this, or the original when I was in Jr high in the late 1970's!
Hehe, the game is still going strong and one of the best squad level wargames around. Imagine that in the 70s!

+x6ftundx Watch next episode :) I redeploy the stacks, thanks for the advice though :)

+Lorenzo Strambi Hope you´ll follow the next ones too :)
For sure! I'm very interested in ASL but, as you said, the rulebook is quite scaring :)

Interesting tweezers. What brand do you use?

nah, I actually really like the old school look but it may just be my (bad) taste of course :)
