      @doommagic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No. To those talking about Serena, don't make this a political thing. It isn't. Neither of them talked about politics. Naomi did right. Serena did right. That's it. Stop getting mad.

  • @jamesallen5591

    I'm old (I don't know why I feel the urge to point that out so often) and I don't remember a tennis player winning a Grand Slam Championship while being overshadowed by the losing opponent. Ever. Yes, I watched McEnroe lose his mind on the court, especially against Connor and Borg. And the fans booed him for it; they didn't boo the umpire. Naomi outplayed Serena, and not for the first time. But all the media covered was Serena. Give this young champion her due; she earned this. She hasn't said a bad word about Serena; just the opposite, in fact. She was playing against one of her idols, and she played great tennis and kept her poise while doing so. That's what the story should be about.

    • @treyjones4020
      @treyjones4020 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Allen The story is about how the media is trying to turn her against Serena

    • @jamesallen5591

      +Aliana Wood I don't care how many times it happens; that doesn't make it right.

    • @jamesallen5591
      @jamesallen5591 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Aliana Wood I've seen plenty of instances/situations in which an athlete was nearing the end of her/his career and didn't want to let go. I've never seen fans actively booing as an aging champion was being dethroned. No, the fans weren't booing Naomi; but do you not think that she might have taken it that way. And the fans were booing because Serena turned the match into a bad joke that was all about her. Serena was wrong on every count: Her coach admitted that he was coaching from the stands; she (not somebody else) destroyed her racket; she then turned it into a sexism issue. Show me where you have seen this before.

    • @treyjones4020

    She is so level-headed and steady. Even through the match, she was focused the entire way, despite it being her first time on such a big stage and with all the added drama. And here too, she's not at all animated. It's a huge quality to not have big emotional swings through tough or happy times. Not just on court but also off it. If she uses her mind as an asset, she really can do very great things ahead. Bless her

    Way to go Naomi, u are absolutely drop dead down to earth and a shear mother load of humble. You go girl, seize the world. I think at 20 u have shown who is a champion / more than winning it is the essence of the game and how to be composed when facing adversity - you stand out both on court and off the court. Hats off to you and your parents who instilled these values.
    The very best for a smouldering future in Tennis and life.

      @randyevermore9323 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sure, I'll give you a break because you've obviously lived in the U.S. your whole life, too, which explains why you can't see the cultural influence. Her mother is Japanese, and her father lived in Japan for years. They speak Japanese and practice Japanese customs at home. That's why she bows so often, even to the tennis court. Family culture is at least as big an influence as the ambient culture.

Now that is a class act👏🏾👍🏾. Serena needs to privately apologize to Naomi for taking the excitement out of her first debut US Open Championship. Naomi, I wish you many more successes. Naomi you handled this most unfortunate situation with a grace and humbleness.THIS WAS HER DREAM TO PLAY HER IDOL SERENA AT THE US OPEN FINAL. Sadly, Serena, the crowd and the disgraceful comment by Katrina Adams "Perhaps this was not the finish we were looking for today". utterly spoiled Naomi's moment. Can you imagine? Naomi just achieved her dream and she should have been celebrated, not booed. Even with all those insulting comments and bad behavior by Serena, the crowd and Katrina Adams, Naomi apologized for winning because she knew if she were in the stand she would've been rooting for Serena. I am glad to see so many Americans and non-Americans applauding for Naomi's grace. So THANK YOU! Can someone please tell me name(s) of Grand Slam champions who were able to put her/him self in the crowd's shoes and think rationally why they behaved in the way they did? I'm Japanese and we were taught to be humble and gracious from childhood. Her mother clearly kept the tradition. Naomi even thanked the crowd for watching and thanked Serena for playing and took a bow. HOW SO JAPANESE OF HER!
    BTW: Naomi completely outplayed Serena, just saying.
