Another potential solution would be to incorporate two-way hinges into the design, that way it can be opened inwards and outwards the same way. Naturally, this would require a specialized doorframe, because that wouldn't be easy.
Guys, your missing the point of the door, it’s an alien jail door, you know for keeping their captives in right before they stick stuff up their butts, duh
I've seen several of these on YT, some from China. But I have no idea who designed the original. That Torggler guy sounds like a plausible source, but it's nothing I've investigated. Looking at his site it looks like his door, which he calls Triangle, isn't exactly the same design as the one in this video. The 'Triangle' door consists of just four triangles, and it's not obvious from the pictures on the site exactly how the center hinge works. It might be shown on one of the videos but I'm not really that interested.
I've seen an incredibly similar 4 plate door from some random guy called Klemens Torggler who was an arty type I followed for a while. It didn't use the small triangular plates though, it used some weird multi axis pivot in the centre to achieve the same effect. This design using 6 plates and standard hinges and bushings makes an aful lot more sense; it's far less complex to build as no joint moves in more than 1 axis of rotation. Assuming the Warwick guy has a patent for this 6 plate design he was the right guy to ask permission from. IDK though, could have at least mentioned the Torggler door.
This is a great wood project book th-cam.com/users/postUgkxkPIWb22DigCqxmlXerCyUF4HCl6eSU2L . Most of the projects use the pallet simply as a source of reclaimed wood not as a recognizable pallet so even if you didn't have a pallet you could make these projects with any reclaimed (or even new) wood. The instructions are excellent. The style is charming and would work with lots of different decor. There are quite a number of projects that involve tiling of teh wood pieces which is a really cool idea and can produce beautiful pieces when working with aged wood.
1:50 I'm gonna explain what are happen here in that segment, In some device the sound didn't come that because your phone(speaker) is on mono instead of stereo, you can actually hear that segment by using headphone or headset The cause is the sound cancelation where the original sound meets inverted sound that makes sound cancel each other or maybe odd in speaker I hope this will help
@@xyoungdipsetx it's simple: the one who he asked for permission has no authority to grant it either way, since they are not the ones who designed this mechanism..
I have some doors made from some pretty expensive wood but i get what you mean would be a quite rare event that someones guests would compliment your door
This door isn’t usable in a normal way as is. However, the way this door work is by the pillow block bearing hinges. Slap a motor on those hinges on the inside of the room, install some limit switches and a power bottom on both sides and then you have an automatic cool door. You still have some pinch points to worry about
Two 90 degree actuators(windshield wiper motors) mounted on the main pivot points could make this door completely automatic, and that would launch this great idea into the legendary category
Let me explain why some of you guys can't hear sound from 1.50. There is no sound only on devices with a single mono speaker. If you will try to connect your headphones, everything will be ok. For some reasons the sounds there is a out of phase stereo. The sound like this can't be heard properly from mono speaker. Some of cheap microphones doing that or just an incorrect configuration of video/audio editing software. There is a gold rule of video editing: try to mix left and right channels to verify sound. Otherwise, sound will be broken on 60% of mobile devices
Needs to be motorized now, with either a button on both sides that can both open and close the door from either side, or even cooler, an automated sensor on both sides that detects when you're approaching the door and opens it then closes behind you once you leave the sensor area. THAT would be the icing on the cake. EDIT: Oops, the REAL icing on the cake would be to have Star Trek door opening and closing sounds as well. Yes, that would be icing indeed. ;-)
Imagine if the whole house was origami and you could turn walls into stairs, doors, windows, tables, beds... Imagine if the whole house was made of origami pre-fabricated "legos" that you would fill with sand, water, & air.

@@eyesyt7571 that's arguable. For it to be comfortable to use, you need to open this door completely which means you have to stop once you reach it and step to the left rather than simply swinging it part way open and stepping through.
@@xyoungdipsetx Its overcomplicated and serves the same purpose a simple door and doorknob so I wouldn't call it practical. One of the definitions of practical is "sensible and realistic in their approach to a situation or problem" so the practical thing to do would be to get a normal door instead of cutting up a bunch of metal to create a door that's full of holes. Its a cool door though and it works well enough for were he put it in his shop. The original used it as an outer door which i could see being a problem because that door will definitely not stop bugs from walking through all the cracks.
yeah when he was trying to leave the room he struggled because he couldn't move the pole all the way due to the wall. A motor would solve this and also motors are just cool.
I can imagine Daily Dose of Internet making a video on this like: Hey everyone this is your daily dose of internet, this guy made a door that looks too complex to open.
I can just imagine in some action film some guy is gonna start closing this door in slow motion and the main character is just gonna dive straight threw it before it closes
I feel as though when the door is opened their should be a magnet on the wall so then it stays in place but if it stays in place when opened we’ll just a suggestion
Usually when I see videos on my recommended page fit into one of two categories: high quality videos from very recently, or low quality videos from years ago. Today, TH-cam has surprised me with a high quality video from years ago. Nice content. 👍
Hey there, if you use a lav mic the sound is stereo and always on one side. To fix it when you render de video you can set the video to mono and the sound wil be fixed!
I'm intrigued to know how well this operates from the OTHER side. The side where you can't see the door at all when it's open, and where the handle (if there is one) is absolutely right on the frame when it's closed.
He demoed it from the other side. It really doesnt work very well. He pushes it halfway open, then wiggles his way inside the room before he can open it further.
Think there might be a way two make it convertible were it could work both like either a normal hinged door or a folding door depending whether you push or slide.
'pivot' - such an awesome hinge joint to replace a door... Was looking for something I could use to join two pieces of wood in a rotating pivot, so this has given me some ideas! Thank you!
The only thing that I see that is weird for me with that door is that opening up from the other side is weird and it ain't smooth
it could be easily fixed by welding the top or bottom rod, and attaching a motor to it.

“Honey why do we have a new door?” “The old one didn’t fold, dear”
I would make one just to say
I'm gonna fold on you

So strange and fascinating... The only thing that I think is missing is a motor that opens the door... But I think that is for another day.
A motor that operates based on a motion sensor
yeah when he was trying to leave the room he struggled because he couldn't move the pole all the way due to the wall. A motor would solve this and also motors are just cool.

I feel as though when the door is opened their should be a magnet on the wall so then it stays in place but if it stays in place when opened we’ll just a suggestion
true it medal
What magnet can hold such a heavy door effectively lol? Wouldn't it be very bulky then?
Actually, there are magnets that are reasonably sized and could hold it.
Also, you can just hide it on the inside of the wall to hide it.
I’m so confused what this man said
No magnet, its really heavy. Just a soft lock

Why would you ask this question in a video that is about making an origami door... that’s so irrelevant...
@@angelmarcusaurora 1. It's not a question,
2. It's relevant, someone who's using a mono speaker (me for example) can't hear him talking.

Thanks for the tip! I couldn't hear him at all
I'm intrigued to know how well this operates from the OTHER side.
So it would be good for a wardrobe, closet or cabinets?
Yes
@@anthonyd.8067 yeah making it double sided ...
Pivot... I had to watch all the way through in order to wrap my head around it. A very interesting project!
I love how the audio dies near the beginning
That happens if your device turns the audio from stereo to mono, since the audio phases are inverted.
An option to fix this was using a headphone or earphones
I'm so happy when I find new people and creators in my recommendations, speicially when the videos are good.. It's good both for me and the creator!

'pivot' - such an awesome hinge joint to replace a door... Was looking for something I could use to join two pieces of wood in a rotating pivot, so this has given me some ideas! Thank you!
