Carbon has a half life of around 5,730 years, which means every cycle of those 5,730 years it becomes half as ‘potent’ I guess in classifying how old the biological material is. This means that if in 5,730 years the material becomes half as reliable, in another 5,730 years it becomes only a quarter reliable. This is why carbon dating only works up to around 40,000 years (ago) that it is deemed a ‘reliable’ source. Which is great for more modern human factors, or maybe at a stretch Neanderthal dating, but anything before that couldn’t be considered academically inaccurate, due to the amount of carbon present being little to none, after halving its life multiple times every 5,730 years until it is almost untraceable. There are quite a few interesting documentaries/videos about the matter, Impo though, what will it matter we'll be long dead and humanity, if we are still around, would hopefully have found a better way of measuring those things
