Sounds kinda like this would be a what if version of the fight, where, instead of fighting Eggman using the power of the Phantom Ruby against you, you would be fighting the Ruby itself, and everything it could conjure up to fight you with
I imagine this as the Ruby taking control of all of eggman's bots and eggman himself so eggman's consciousness is trapped inside of the Ruby, He's had enough and wants sonic terminated for good.

To me this sound like the music that plays when escaping the Titanic Monarch, the Phantom Ruby is absorbing everything while chasing you because how magnetic it is to the 7 Chaos Emeralds power and Eggman is trying to escape to but trying to kill you on the way to the exit at the same time.

In my vision when Sonic beated the phantom Egg in Encore mode Eggman somehow rebuilt it and he's controlling Titanic Monarch which is the real final boss
Tbh this sounds like an Eggrobo version, for going through the entire game on hard mode with a new story about the hardboiled heavies returning more powerful than before thanks to being hurtled to the beginning of the game during the final fight. So what's different? Besides slightly new remixes of the music, the bosses are harder; with a brand new phase that happens when they are 3 hits away and the previous harder phase starts after 4 hits. The final battle is also different, with the Heavy King being the final boss and merging with the non-secret final boss machine of eggman. Turning into "Heavy King Kai" a giant version of him; with all the other eggrobos inside him attacking in turns. You will fight him by rotating around him (thats right, its sorta 3d) and in the background you can see swarms of normal eggrobos flying off to attack other places. Once you beat him 2 cool things will happen. 1. you'll hear a voice line from modern sonic that you'll hear from the end of frontiers as he fight The End as an echo (because of the phantom ruby bending reality before it explodes finally end its terror) and 2. heavy king turns back into an eggrobo. But not just any version; it has a crack over one eye and when it wakes up; attempts to attack knuckles (who is there for the ending) with the eggmobile from sonic 3 that flew out from a rift during the final fight; confirming this eggrobo is infact the one knuckles fought in sonic and knuckles. Whew. I was going to do a small comment, but I got lost in the writing XD
sounds as if eggman decided to go 2nd phase and use the titanic monarch robot to fight sonic instead of using the control mechanism for the main robot (which is what eggman used in the whole final boss thing) well basically, what I like to think when hearing this is that the phantom ruby teleported sonic outside of the boss room area, and now sonic (in his super form) has to battle against the big titanic monarch robot.
