Looking forward to fun things to do in the woodyard and a beautiful blue sky morning an perfect temp = 💯👍. Thanks for sharing your day with us! Morning Chris, busy as a bee today, if the Swedish Candle prove to be popular and highly profitable, you can make them out of sound, solid rounds with a Bandsaw. The oddball size “cookies” would be best the shorter than normal the easier to cut. A backyard fire pit with 3 or 4 stacked could be quite a show, for people who have “money to burn”. No waste either, you get the center of the round to sell. Have a good weekend
57 here this mornin coffee is a good thing lol You are right if you have a dump trailer like you do throw it on and dump it till you have time to stack it . Good video..
You said you’re not in shape and needed to work out and I’m sitting here thinking “that’s what you’re doing now and getting quite a bit done.” I remember from my youth how hard that is. Great video and channel.
Chris, its always good to try things out. Some will benefits you and some wont. It's interesting for me (and maybe for the other viewers ) to experience that together. Keep the videos cumming
That's how I do my firewood now. Cut it all, split it straight into my dump trailer (close to 2 cord)' then take it down to the house and dump it next to the boiler to get stacked
There is no need for the Swedish candles to be exactly 16 inches long. You might consider adjusting the lengths so that there is no odd-length cutoff and you get one extra candle per log..
@@InTheWoodyard I was thinking that you might shorten each piece so that the short cutoff turns into a longer, saleable piece, giving you an extra candle piece to sell out of each log. At $25 a pop, it is probably worth your time. From the look of the cutoffs, you would probably have to cut the rounds to 14 to 14.5 inches rather than 16 inches.
Chris, that was a great video today. What more could a viewer want? You used saws, axes, splitters and tractors. It was a very interesting video. Thanks
Hi Chris, when I seen you splitting into the tracker bucket it looked much easier on your back, but I could understand what your said about how slow it was. Your Brother has a designated cutting an splitting area I think, and he got that young man helping him too, but to me it looked easier, But not as productive, in ten or fifteen years time when your slow down a bit it may be better . Great Clip good afternoon Irene.
Some days I want to say, Why don't you do this? Then I remember that you like to do it because it's good exercise. No one can tell me that you're not a hard worker. Another great 👍 video Chris.
Yes! A big part of why I make firewood is for exercise and most people do not get that because THEY avoid it...work and exercise, I welcome it so that I can keep moving and living as long as possible!
Hey Chris, great video. there was a much bigger snake crawling under the wood when you put the snake down. Take a look. it was right after he peed and pooped on you and you were releasing him .
Interesting video and hearing your evaluation of the Kenny method and your set up. Keep cutting and adjusting your process to make best use of your equipment, Wood Yard layout, and best suited to your preferences.
Yup, some people comment and have good suggestions but some do not know what is best for me in my wood yard system and it is hard to not tell them that they are not here and don't know what it is like in "the game" while sitting in there lazy boy !HA!
@@InTheWoodyard I guess the adage of not judging until after you’ve walked a few miles in the other guy’s shoes could be adjusted to something like, you cannot authoritatively judge another man’s Wood Yard until you’ve cut split and stacked a couple hundred face cords using his wood supply, equipment, resources, and physical abilities…
If you ever get pine that is that size be like me and bore cut the center out. Works the same. When they dry they burn even better than that hard wood. Lol. Great video
The efficiency talk is great, I took in about 16 full cords worth of log loads last spring, we also had a lot of snow, when the wood started coming in (7 truck loads - dumpster roll off style) my yard had about 12" if glacier on it, then the melt off happened and I had dirt soup for a month, I decided to centralize my cutting and splitting, the cutting not so bad, but when I was splitting I ended up making a huge heap, like 12ft wide x 30ft long and 10ft high, now I have been struggling to get motivated in moving it to stack it out, I would have been way easier to split near the stacking area and make rows like what you do, now I have to load the bucket on the tractor, drive, dump, repeat then stack it, Touching the splits way to much.
Chris, would it be possible to get pallet forks and build pallet racks? This way you can split and stack at same time. Once stacked on pallet right off splitter you are done handling it. You then could even load pallet in truck or trailer then manually unload at customers. You could get a carryall frame and do 2 pallets at once. One on front forks one on back carryall. You have plenty of tractor that your not using. My custom built carryall hauls just over one face cord…or I should say just over half of a full cord (24-28”) It’s 3 point though. Lot better lifting capacity except no height. It’s too bad you don’t live closer. I’d have you setup in no time and I’d also revamp that splitter to work more efficiently.
No thanks, I am much more efficient cutting directly on the pile all at once then splitting all at once then stacking all at once all in the same spot no moving wood, that is how I usually do it most of the time.
Hey Chris I know you said you won't be doing it that way again, and I don't like to myself but sometimes it's needed.next time you do though stack the wood in the bucket with about 3 inches hanging off the front and as you go up fill in behind with pieces sideways once you get to top edge of bucket you can mound past way better I get 4 buckets to a full cord that way I think my bucket is alittle bigger but you will almost double what your getting in now
