@@slapshot68 to slap shot 68: raising the fares does not solve anything the MTA needs to open their books and figure out what have they done with all the surplus money they’ve been getting from Albany because they don’t deserve it
How many times has the MTA charged more and said "This is the program that will bring in the needed money to improve the system for all New Yorkers?" It's all BS while their board gets record bonuses, builds and renovates stations for Long Islanders, purchases malfunctioning robots, intensionally installs turnstiles they knew were easily circumventable giving them yet another scapegoat (fare evasion) to raise prices and so on and so on and so on. This program wasn't going to do anything but hurt small businesses and make life even harder/unhealthier for poor neighborhoods. Whether they end up instituting congestion pricing or the MTA moves on to the next scam, the average rider was never and will never see or feel any meaningful improvements.
She saw how well Donald Trump did at his rally in the Bronx... Hochul is afraid that if she invokes the Congestion Pricing, it will push more people towards Trump.
MTA waste money like that “platform robot” that didnt even survive through the year. Audit MTA, and threaten to cut executives’ salary, pension, and benefits until they actually come up with working solutions to the MTA; not dumb contemporary strategies that are only short term
The MTA got ahead of their skis. They spent millions installing those stupid monitors. Screw congestion pricing! It is a scam and a money grab by the MTA!
The city shouldn't be forced to subsidize people who drive cars in the city when less than a third of households in Manhattan even own a car. Congestion pricing is exactly what it sounds like. It reduces traffic which makes it a better experience for the people who actually need to drive. Do you crave traffic?
@@mariusfacktor3597 I shouldn't have to pay 15 freaking dollars a few blocks below 60th just because I make a couple of thousand above 60k, it's f'ing insane. I also shouldn't have to be forced out of my damn car because of this ridiculous "law" no one voted for this, they got way ahead of themselves. As currently set it's ridiculous. I won't vote for any Democrat ever again if this nonsense is implemented as is. You also aren't thinking of all the vehicles being redirected uptown by the GWB and elsewhere because of people driving over NJ and dumping their cars uptown just to avoid the extra $15 fee. None of that got taken into account, they're full of it if they say that they did. I live on 54th and 10th, 3 blocks out from the west side highway, I shouldn't have to pay $15 between 5am and 9pm just to get home, it's insane. Meters are like $6.75+ an hour upto 7pm, the rules below 60th as is are insane if you have a personal vehicle.
How about you charge MTA users for whatever improvements needed, rather than drivers that are not MTA riders . And please knock off the nonsense about clean air, if that’s the case they telling us that as long if you willing to pay you can pollute midtown, what about the rest of the city and the others boroughs. THIS IS JUST CASH CRAB from the wrong people.
But most the people who drive into Manhattan don't pay taxes in Manhattan or even the state of New York. That's the problem. The city is forced to subsidize car drivers despite less than a third of households in Manhattan even owning a car. It sounds like you're a freeloader who wants things for free.
Perhaps like the university resident non-resident requirements. Non-residents driving in and out pay the bill. Residents want their city back. It's not only roads. It's a residential home to millions, 7 million people live work and want to breathe clean air.
The MTA could have had the program implemented on schedule but they were being bullies. First $15 is crazy. Second they didn't want to negotiate with the workers that have to drive into the city, the businesses that were going to suffer or the commuters who were going to have to pay even more exorbitant prices for good that are way overpriced already. With so many people who are going to be negatively affected I think they should get the people who are championing congestion pricing to volunteer to pay $15 every time they come into the city since they think its such a good plan.
Smhh who is auditing MTA’s books? They charge $100 fee if you don’t pay your tolls per transaction that runs into thousands of dollars for some. So what’s happening for payments received? On top of that the metro fare increases overtime… so what’s happening
There’s congestion because roads are literally cut in half or 1/3 due to the bike lanes added so of course traffic increases which causes congestion. So whose fault is it?
Office and retail vacancies are sky high. With this congestion pricing it will speed up the process even faster. Glad Hochul realized this and put a 🛑 to this insane plan. To the transit advocate 🖕🏻 & 👉 😄....
People of America should celebrate this decision . Because if New York City got away with this it would be only a matter of time before every large city in America used this preposterous concept. I live in Chicago and go to about 20 White Sox games a year and 30 Cubs games and it would cost me an additional $15 to 25 bucks a year to see them since i have to travel through the city. That's an additional $1,250 a year just to see the games New York City was the first City in America to introduce 🔴 Red Light Cameras as a tax grab .. Now every city in North America has them (including Canada) as i said it would only be a matter of time
The real estate developers that own the skies building people on top of people on top of cars on top of non-residents! Give me a break! Invest in roads way to heaven. Get smart.
Why would you not want faster taxis and buses like London has due to congestion charging? Why would you not want cleaner air and less noise like London has? Why would you not want walkable streets and less car deaths like London has? Congestion charging is a good idea. Those Jersey residents don't pay New York taxes so they're freeloading the streets that Manhattan residents need to pay for. Is your idea of America freeloading?
