I would not claim so confidently that there is always a reason when you do not actually know people's cases. I have NO more than one account, I DID NOT use any trademarks, I DID NOT used same content. I DID NOT publish low quality or author names books. I DID NOT receive email ..in the inbox or in the spam folder. Just tried to log in and my account was closed. I could log in but it was closed. It said access removed and account closed....that is all I could see when I logged in. So this video is not so accurate

If I use some free facebook group to promote a book through a give away during a couple of day hoping to get some reviews, do you think it can possibly be a reason for betting banned from Amazon KDP ? I've read on a group that Amazon is detecting ip adresses and may consider it as an infrigement. Do you have any clue about this question please because I read somethingand its contrary at the same time not knowing who to trust. Thank you in advance.
If you're offering a free book in return for a review then yes, that is against the Terms of Service and could lead to a ban. It would be dificult to give the books away and then get a review becuase the review would then be coming from someone who hasn't actually made a purchasea dnif you were to get a bunch of those it would appear odd in the Amazon algorithm and again attract attention to your acount.
Hello Paul! Hope you can help me. I just got my account suspended for the low-quality issue. KDP say that they receive complaints from the client but this is impossible because the book was even online. Also, the quality of cover and interior was good, because I am a graphic designer. I suspect that what they call low quality, and bad client experiences, are related to the fact the low content book I upload was similar to others already there and had a similar title. It was a book to write a password in it. It's that possible? I now I am kinda scared because I don't seem to get what you can and cannot do. It seems to me that they are trying to block new low content account ( they were the first low content book I upload) and the quality assurance system is really obscure. Have some advice?
Same for me ! I just received the notification that my account was suspended because of "complaints" for books which never sold .. I am totally frustrated
@Giorgia - Have you recently received any mail from KDP which says: "Action needed for one of your books" ? That´s what happened to me.. The changes which were requested by KDP could not be made from my side (Author name was a Keyword and Author data cannot be changed after submission) and therefore they ended up suspending my account temporarily I guess... Let´s see if I manage to get it back somehow.
Yes! I was asked to change the author name of three book, but only one of them was available to be modified, the other two were still pending. So i reply to that email saying I fixed the problem for one of them, but i wasn't unablw to take action for others. Then they send me that email that the two book i wasnt able to fix were violating their quality and get the suspension.
@@giorgiadallavalle - So then both of us had the same issue .. let´s hope our accounts get "unbanned" - KDP told me that they expect a response mail from my side, saying that my future books will be compliant with KDP´s quality requirements and they also requested a proposal that I will remove the "flagged" books.. let´s hope for the best.. but honestly speaking.. this is kind of frustrating as we both tried to make that change in our meta data in order to solve that. @@bigbodreampack I think yes. They told me to reply that I will improve the quality of my content, and I did it. But I also reply to the email that was requesting actions because I did explain there I was unable to make the changes they want to. Their reply was vague. I keep checking if the books became available to change until today that I receive the suspension notification. Seem quite unfair to me too. I will check on you as soon as I get a reply.
I got terminated last month with a book that I did not published. And I just find out that all my books still available at Amazon. It mean I won't get any payment and Amazon is using all of my books for making money. How about my write on all of my works?

If I have 20 books with different cover and the same content (120 line pages), will I be banned? Line page is low content book and all the books are the same content and number of page. Can I reuse content page of low content book?
My sales are growing month over month & I am close to $1k a week this month. I awoke this morning to a terminated account with a link to contact them. I checked my emails & there was a message about a book published 6 years ago & the content being freely available online. They requested that I remove titles with similar content. First I had to reply to the email promising to do this. Then I unpublished all of my old non selling titles - I dunno how many maybe 100 or even more. The less they have to complain about the better. I think they have too many publishers & this problem will only get worse. I intend to upload my titles to Lulu & set up a shopify store. Gotta have a backup plan.
My account had been closed today, maybe because I bought a coloring book from etsy and uploaded it. I think its not allowed to upload the same book which has been uploaded by someone else before. Another issue I had: kdp said that the statement by the author leads to confusion among buyers. But I used this name in other books which were live and had no problems. maybe a bot recognizes a lot of things as wrong that aren't wrong, and if that happens more often, you get banned. This means, you can't do anything against it, all you do could be wrong 😢

What exactly qualities as duplicate content? *2)* Also, how do they know if I have the licensing to use certain content? Do I have to enter this information somewhere to prove that I have the licensing? (maybe this is a silly question but I’m really not sure how this kind of thing works) *3)* What if I decide to make a separate account for KDP instead of using my personal account that I use to buy stuff? Would that be against the rules? I would technically only have one KDP account, even if I have 2 Amazon accounts with different login information. It’s just that one account would be only for personal use and the other for KDP. I was thinking of doing this because I don’t want to mix my personal account with KDP, but now I’m wondering if that’s against the rules.
1. Duplicate content is one piece of content identical to another. 2. They don’t but if your content blatantly breaches trademark they will contact you or if your content gets reported they might ask for proof. 3. I would email KDP support and ask for clarification.

Copyright question. I want to do a Halloween book where my original cat character dresses up like a few pop culture characters. Would this be infringement and if so why? For example if I draw him dressed in a generic yellow sponge costume to imitate SpongeBob. Hello Paul, my account was terminated today. The mail said it was due to my title misleading customers. I had two books published with similar titles together on the same day (both had different interiors only the 1st page was the same). One of them got a warning saying it was misleading customers and was blocked while the other was still under review. As I was dealing with the 1st book the other one went live and guess the amazon bots thought that I intentionally uploaded the same title again and terminated my account. Do you think this was a mistake and I could have my account back? Ps: the 1st book was actually automatically unblocked and went into review again on its own.
Without knowing the title of the book and specific detials it's difficult to say. Once an account is terminated it is very difficult to get back. The only thing you can do is contact KDP support.
I just had mine closed this week and I still don't understand why. I have gone back and forth with them and they are basically telling me it isn't their policy to tell why??? WTH???? They can shut down your business, keep your royalties and not explain why or give you a chance to fix or explain. It seems very shady to me.
Are Amazon Ads and KDP connected? I was charged by amazon ads for something I did not do and if I have my CC reverse the charges, will they suspend my kdp??? Customer service is non existent and they're not getting back to me
They are both under the Amazon umbrella. It would be unusual to be charged for Amazon ads if you've not run an ad campaign but customer service is the correct course of action.
Hello and thank you from the great videos. My account was suspended today. I posted a 369 Manifestation journal and was told I didn't hold the necessary rights. However, I see 100's of similar journals, some of which even mention Tesla. I am so confused by this.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not familiar with 369. Unfortuantely, even if other books are getting away with it, if your book gets picked up on a manual review it can be a problem.
Thank you Paul, for this video. I received an alert email Monday 12. June 2023 11PM and 60min later I received an email with a suspension of my account - even though the first email granted me 5 days to make the modifications they asked for. I saw this in the morning and with the account saying closed, I have had no chance to amend anything..... I have emailed them back and not heard anything thus far.... very very frustrating :) Strangely I can see that Amazon is still selling 2 of my books... I thought when the account is suspended all my products would be suspended ? - have you come across this ? I guess I just have to wait and see if I receive a reply. Would you recommend I try alternative platforms like IngramSpark, Etzy or Barnes Nobles ? Thank you again for all your guidance, Inge
Sorry to hear your acount was suspended. I'm not sure if sales stop when an account is suspended. probably when it is terminated. IngramSpark is a poular alternative.

“Unicorn” is a brand, right? It may cause a copyright issue. I published my first book, a “Paw Patrol” coloring book, but it got blocked after review, and now my account is temporarily suspended. If I'm using Canva images to create my covers, how do I properly attribute the image for the cover? Or is it even necessary? Do I select "I own the copyright..." or "This is a public domain work"?
Licensing information and information regarding attributes will be in the canva site. You normally tick you own the copyright unless the content is public domain work.
What about crello background images. Can i use these images for book covers...they say we can use for commercial and personal use. But information is not clear that we can sell the content created using crello background
I did a review for my own book and did not know I couldn't. The Amazon account is under my husband's name and I used a pen name for the author. On the subject of multiple accounts, be advised that KDP will not allow you AND your spouse to both have KDP accounts. My wife and I had both of our accounts terminated for violation of the "multiple accounts" rule. They never warned us or suspended us, just terminated us. On one of the terminations, they wouldn't even state the reason for the termination. Fortunately, after some serious groveling, we were allowed to have one account reinstated - but ONLY after several appellate emails, multiple rejections from KDP, and more appellate emails. We had NO idea how serious of an offense this was.
But can I have for exemple 3 or more different pen name with one account? Because I would like to create different type of books, foe exemple books for kids, for adults in different niches and different categories
My account got banned after I published over 50 coloring books and had first sales.. Had license for everything, appealed but it didn't help. They emailed me that they don't have to tell me a reason why my account was banned and they got right to ban an account without giving a reason. Violation of terms was the only answer that came in first email..

I am sorry if you have an updated video on this topic. But for #4, I have someone in my house with their own KDP, with their own business model. I reached out to Amazon (KDP) to make sure this is ok with us being on the same internet and living in the same house, and they sent a note telling me it is fine. So if I get an email in the future, I will use this as my defense. But our portfolio is 100% different and with NO overlap in our products. My suggestion would be to reach out before any bans happen if you live with someone with a KDP account.

Hi Paul I need help I have 2 books an author reported due to a trademarked word which I was completely unaware of 🙄 stupid mistake. However both books are now blocked and I have wrote a very apologetic email to amazon and the trademark owner. I am very worried about losing my account as I have only been doing this for 6months and have done well. Will I still get my payments from these blocked books as they actually sold well. I'm super stressed and worried as I am a single mum and uni student and times are hard as it is. Helpppppp any advice I will be eternally grateful 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I would suspect you wouldn’t receive the money from the sales but I don’t know for sure. You will have to wait and see how Amazon handles the royalties.
I'm targeting a certain set of keywords for my books that I like putting as the title of my book. Would you see any problem with naming two completely separate books, or three or four, ect(different covers, and interiors) with the same title? The interior contents are reflected precisely by what's in the title. Mahalo.
Yu can do that but I would perhaps target a different but related keyword with each book. Your books then wouldn't be competing with each other and one particular keyword may get more traction than you would expect.
Today morning I also got the same email and it was very shocking for me because I just put a step in this career I tried to duplicate my own book like a coloring book and made it in hard book cover also And published the book Ebook which I wanted to make in paperback, so my book was published but certainly, they closed my email account, now you tell me how to open my email account again?
Still great info a year later. Quick question on dupe content.. I have some teen/adult activity books.. with various puzzles, 2-sided pages and including a few select coloring pages (8-10), but want to also use those coloring pages in a much larger themed coloring-only book (say 36+ images) on premium paper, one-sided for the serious coloring buffs. Would that be a problem? Not sure if that's an issue.
Could potentially be an issue with duplicate content. If the books are aimed at a different market and they are mixed up with others it may be fine. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

The email got into spam and l just find it today( after 18 days). In this time l tried to get log into my account and my book didn’t appear on, like before.. that's why you always need to have multiple stream income, and here is what i will do if my account got terminated, i will basically create a new one but with a fresh internet connection and fresh computer if you cant get a new computer just get a fresh phone because you can use the phone just to create that new kdp account and upload books you can still use your main computer to create the books but never sign in with your new kdp in that computer. and lastly you will have to sign up for kdp with the info of someone in your family dont use your info again. i dont know why paul didnt give this solution is it complicated in the uk because of tax stuff? but anyways if your account shut down and you from a Developing country like me just do what i said

I did the same! Is not complicated. Go to your account that you want to be deleted. Click on "Help", and then on the left side click on "Accounts" and then "Manage Your KDP Account". There you will find "Close an Account". There you will find a window to write your message in, to explain what happened and that you want your account to be deleted. Support will send you an e-mail to let you know your account is deleted. ( I got it after few hours ) Good luck!

It is all. But the sales report is books sent off from Amazon. So there will always be a slight disparity.

It depends on the interior. Log books are fine. If it’s something like a coloring book or puzzle book I always advise changing it a little.

Hello Paul! Hope you can help me. I just got my account suspended for the low-quality issue. KDP say that they receive complaints from the client but this is impossible because the book was even online. Also, the quality of cover and interior was good, because I am a graphic designer. I suspect that what they call low quality, and bad client experiences, are related to the fact the low content book I upload was similar to others already there and had a similar title. It was a book to write a password in it. It's that possible? I now I am kinda scared because I don't seem to get what you can and cannot do. It seems to me that they are trying to block new low content account ( they were the first low content book I upload) and the quality assurance system is really obscure. Have some advice?

@Giorgia - Have you recently received any mail from KDP which says: "Action needed for one of your books" ? That´s what happened to me.. The changes which were requested by KDP could not be made from my side (Author name was a Keyword and Author data cannot be changed after submission) and therefore they ended up suspending my account temporarily I guess... Let´s see if I manage to get it back somehow.
Yes! I was asked to change the author name of three book, but only one of them was available to be modified, the other two were still pending. So i reply to that email saying I fixed the problem for one of them, but i wasn't unablw to take action for others. Then they send me that email that the two book i wasnt able to fix were violating their quality and get the suspension.
@@giorgiadallavalle - So then both of us had the same issue .. let´s hope our accounts get "unbanned" - KDP told me that they expect a response mail from my side, saying that my future books will be compliant with KDP´s quality requirements and they also requested a proposal that I will remove the "flagged" books.. let´s hope for the best.. but honestly speaking.. this is kind of frustrating as we both tried to make that change in our meta data in order to solve that. But I also reply to the email that was requesting actions because I did explain there I was unable to make the changes they want to. Their reply was vague. I keep checking if the books became available to change until today that I receive the suspension notification. Seem quite unfair to me too. I will check on you as soon as I get a reply.

Well, that would be against Amazon’s terms of service. If you re-upload content that hit you banned then the same will probably happen.

My sales are growing month over month & I am close to $1k a week this month. I awoke this morning to a terminated account with a link to contact them. I checked my emails & there was a message about a book published 6 years ago & the content being freely available online. They requested that I remove titles with similar content. First I had to reply to the email promising to do this.
Then I unpublished all of my old non selling titles - I dunno how many maybe 100 or even more. The less they have to complain about the better.
I think they have too many publishers & this problem will only get worse. I intend to upload my titles to Lulu & set up a shopify store. Gotta have a backup plan.

I have had some success with Smashwords. I am still in good standing with KDP, but I like to not put all of my eggs in one basket.
My account had been closed today, maybe because I bought a coloring book from etsy and uploaded it. I think its not allowed to upload the same book which has been uploaded by someone else before.
Another issue I had: kdp said that the statement by the author leads to confusion among buyers. But I used this name in other books which were live and had no problems.
maybe a bot recognizes a lot of things as wrong that aren't wrong, and if that happens more often, you get banned. This means, you can't do anything against it, all you do could be wrong 😢

I was thinking of doing this because I don’t want to mix my personal account with KDP, but now I’m wondering if that’s against the rules.
1. Duplicate content is one piece of content identical to another.
2. They don’t but if your content blatantly breaches trademark they will contact you or if your content gets reported they might ask for proof.
3. I would email KDP support and ask for clarification.

For example if I draw him dressed in a generic yellow sponge costume to imitate SpongeBob. Hello Paul, my account was terminated today. The mail said it was due to my title misleading customers. I had two books published with similar titles together on the same day (both had different interiors only the 1st page was the same). One of them got a warning saying it was misleading customers and was blocked while the other was still under review. As I was dealing with the 1st book the other one went live and guess the amazon bots thought that I intentionally uploaded the same title again and terminated my account. Do you think this was a mistake and I could have my account back?
Ps: the 1st book was actually automatically unblocked and went into review again on its own.
Without knowing the title of the book and specific detials it's difficult to say. Once an account is terminated it is very difficult to get back. The only thing you can do is contact KDP support.

Are Amazon Ads and KDP connected? I was charged by amazon ads for something I did not do and if I have my CC reverse the charges, will they suspend my kdp??? Customer service is non existent and they're not getting back to me
They are both under the Amazon umbrella. It would be unusual to be charged for Amazon ads if you've not run an ad campaign but customer service is the correct course of action.

You can have a normal Amazon account where you buy and a KDP account.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not familiar with 369. Unfortuantely, even if other books are getting away with it, if your book gets picked up on a manual review it can be a problem.

June 2023 11PM and 60min later I received an email with a suspension of my account - even though the first email granted me 5 days to make the modifications they asked for. I saw this in the morning and with the account saying closed, I have had no chance to amend anything..... I have emailed them back and not heard anything thus far.... very very frustrating :) Strangely I can see that Amazon is still selling 2 of my books... I thought when the account is suspended all my products would be suspended ? - have you come across this ? I guess I just have to wait and see if I receive a reply. Sorry to hear your acount was suspended. I'm not sure if sales stop when an account is suspended. probably when it is terminated. IngramSpark is a poular alternative.

Licensing information and information regarding attributes will be in the canva site. You normally tick you own the copyright unless the content is public domain work.
What about crello background images. Can i use these images for book covers...they say we can use for commercial and personal use. But information is not clear that we can sell the content created using crello background
I did a review for my own book and did not know I couldn't. The Amazon account is under my husband's name and I used a pen name for the author. Also our checking accounts are seperate and are not joined. I'm so stressed they are going to ban me. I'm hoping they won't notice its me it so I can quickly delete it.
It's potentially an issue but impossible to say. I would just avoid doing it again.

I think it depends on the reason for termination.
On the subject of multiple accounts, be advised that KDP will not allow you AND your spouse to both have KDP accounts. My wife and I had both of our accounts terminated for violation of the "multiple accounts" rule. They never warned us or suspended us, just terminated us. On one of the terminations, they wouldn't even state the reason for the termination. Fortunately, after some serious groveling, we were allowed to have one account reinstated - but ONLY after several appellate emails, multiple rejections from KDP, and more appellate emails. We had NO idea how serious of an offense this was.

Yes you can. That is no problem.
My account got banned after I published over 50 coloring books and had first sales.. Had license for everything, appealed but it didn't help. They emailed me that they don't have to tell me a reason why my account was banned and they got right to ban an account without giving a reason. Violation of terms was the only answer that came in first email..

I am sorry if you have an updated video on this topic. But for #4, I have someone in my house with their own KDP, with their own business model. I reached out to Amazon (KDP) to make sure this is ok with us being on the same internet and living in the same house, and they sent a note telling me it is fine. So if I get an email in the future, I will use this as my defense. But our portfolio is 100% different and with NO overlap in our products. My suggestion would be to reach out before any bans happen if you live with someone with a KDP account.

Hi Paul I need help I have 2 books an author reported due to a trademarked word which I was completely unaware of 🙄 stupid mistake. However both books are now blocked and I have wrote a very apologetic email to amazon and the trademark owner. I am very worried about losing my account as I have only been doing this for 6months and have done well. Will I still get my payments from these blocked books as they actually sold well. I would suspect you wouldn’t receive the money from the sales but I don’t know for sure. You will have to wait and see how Amazon handles the royalties.

I'm targeting a certain set of keywords for my books that I like putting as the title of my book. Would you see any problem with naming two completely separate books, or three or four, ect(different covers, and interiors) with the same title? The interior contents are reflected precisely by what's in the title. Mahalo.
Yu can do that but I would perhaps target a different but related keyword with each book. Your books then wouldn't be competing with each other and one particular keyword may get more traction than you would expect.

Still great info a year later. Quick question on dupe content.. I have some teen/adult activity books.. with various puzzles, 2-sided pages and including a few select coloring pages (8-10), but want to also use those coloring pages in a much larger themed coloring-only book (say 36+ images) on premium paper, one-sided for the serious coloring buffs. Would that be a problem? Not sure if that's an issue.
Could potentially be an issue with duplicate content. If the books are aimed at a different market and they are mixed up with others it may be fine. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

Unfortunately I have written a children book story for bedtime, l’ ve published the book and a few days after they send me an email to review my bank information. The email got into spam and l just find it today( after 18 days). In this time l tried to get log into my account and my book didn’t appear on, like before.. ( in the mail there was a time of 24 h to review the bank information, and then my account will be looked permanently).

Yes it will. You can only have one account per email. That should tell you what to do!

that's why you always need to have multiple stream income, and here is what i will do if my account got terminated, i will basically create a new one but with a fresh internet connection and fresh computer if you cant get a new computer just get a fresh phone because you can use the phone just to create that new kdp account and upload books you can still use your main computer to create the books but never sign in with your new kdp in that computer. and lastly you will have to sign up for kdp with the info of someone in your family dont use your info again. i dont know why paul didnt give this solution is it complicated in the uk because of tax stuff? but anyways if your account shut down and you from a Developing country like me just do what i said

How they terminate for misleading 😑if it was suspension i think it was easier but there are sellers whose use trade marks and get just suspension and not termination .
It's becasue Amazon does not usually allow people to create products centered around and profit from conflicts among other things.

They don’t do it automatically based on the language. You have to choose from the countries offered just before you hit publish.

I did the same! Is not complicated. Go to your account that you want to be deleted. Click on "Help", and then on the left side click on "Accounts" and then "Manage Your KDP Account". There you will find "Close an Account". There you will find a window to write your message in, to explain what happened and that you want your account to be deleted. You can change the cover without having to unpublish.

Not usually I'm afraid. They are very strict on trademark infringement.

Yes. You can't just draw Batman and use it, only because you drew it yourself. Did you invent the character? No? Then you can't use it
