I grew up w/ these guys on "Where The Action Is" so many wonderful years ago. Mark was one of the greatest lead singers that ever held a microphone...they DONT make 'em like that anymore. God Bless these guys for all the memories they gave us kids of the 60's. This stuff is priceless to us.
We we living in the PNW when Where The Action Is, was televised. We couldn't wait to rush home from school to watch it daily. PR&TR, were always a treat, since they wete the house band for the show. Lots of great memories.

Paul Revere & The Raiders should be inducted and every band member through the end of their contract with Columbia Records should be included in the induction. I mean, this was the very first Rock and Roll act signed to Columbia Records! The hall of fame needs to pull their snobbish heads out of their asses.
I couldn’t agree more, the so-called hall of fame doesn’t have the raiders or Steppenwolf but does Hall and Oats? Whitney Houston nominated...but not these guys? This is a travesty, like Steve Miller said when finally inducted a couple years ago..it has little to do with rock n roll anymore.
The R & R Hall of fame is pretty clueless. I believe they chose American Pie as one of the top 5 greatest songs of all time , to which I say the song is 7 verses too long and The Hollies are a far better tribute to Buddy Holly than the stinking American Pie song. "Drove my Chevy to the Levy" ... there are no levies in the midwest, and 50's teenagers didn't drink whiskey and rye.
With the way the R+RHOF is "managed" and the non-Rock acts that are in it and the many that should be but are not/its becoming a greater honor to be left out !!!###
They have what music is missing now.....talented musicians nobody plays an instrument anymore all the kids want is computer voice auto tune and rap crap

Spirit Of 67 is just an outstanding album. So many great singles from this band delivered by one of the all time great rock and roll vocalists. Midnight Ride is another great album.
Sophomore year of high school I would dash off the homeward bus, home to watch them on 'Where The Action Is' playing their electric guitars.....on the beach! Got such a kick (or should I say, 'Kicks') out of that.
They were so fun. I remember well when just a kid and watching them on "Where The Action Is", listening to their albums in the downstairs den, learning the bass lines while their LP's spun on the old hi-fi record player we had down there. And I thought those dance steps were fun, too! Such great times. Very good music to this day. Some of their songs are downright impressive, especially with Mark's vocal work. "Hungry", for example, "Just Like Me" for another... they had some kickin' sound!
laming2006 Watched Where The Action Is, too! It was one of the few teen shows in the afternoon. They made that show!!! Variety shows back in the 60s and 70s were family friendly and lots of fun to watch! Do you remember Hullabaloo and Shindig? They were more in the British Invasion era.
Debby Taylor In Detroit we had Robin Seymour's Swingin' Time in the afternoon. Strangely, one of the first appearances of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention - late '66 or early '67. But, of course, plenty of Motown!

The release of Sgt.Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, album, marked a definitive turning point for the Beatles, at least on a conventional level. Since they were already moving beyond their former musical styles, with Rubber Soul and Revolver. 1967 is when the Beatles and rock music in general, took a more serious turn.
I love this because this type of entertainment was so much fun to watch. I'm mesmerized just watching the two guitar players do their little dance while playing.

I was 6yrs old at the time and even then I knew were the action (watched the show) was (only child, no older bros&sis' to clue me in) and how hot Mark Lindsay was, that ponytail blew my mind (especially then!) It was all about Raiders, Beatles and Monkees at the time! Thanks for posting!
I saw Paul and a new much of raiders at the Stardust in Vegas back in the 80’s, when I left after the show, the ticket girl asked me how I enjoyed the show, I asked her where was Mark Lindsay ? She said, who’s that? Just wasn’t the same group I grew up listening to in the 60’s. I still listen to their music today!! RIP Paul...
was fortunate to play in a band that had more talent than myself @ the time. We played many friday nite parties and had a great time. The tunes, while cutting edge were not that difficult to emulate and so we acquired a following that was so much fun to be a part of. Turning the clock back in my mind is a real trip to relive. Thanks Raiders for everything.
I love that guitar walk down lick, kind of like these boots are made for walking except Nancy's was on the bass guitar, same year 1966, I was 10 years old, these guys are the reason I play guitar, every garage band in southern Ca love to try and play these tunes they were part of the music revolution.
I was privileged to see Paul perform in Marion, Ohio in April, 2014. He used a cane, and his son had to help him on and off stage, but his wit and showmanship were still strong. He was a professional until the end, and I'll miss him.
The Great Airplane Strike is but one of many examples of why Paul Revere And The Raiders were one of the ten best bands of the twentieth century. One of the few examples of the Jim Valley era Raiders in Action (pun intended). God bless them!
PP&R's is the very first big concert i ever saw. i was in 8th grade. interestingly i dont remember the guitar and bass guys doing their "steps" like i see in all these videos now. loved this band way back in the day!!!
I used to watch all these shows as a teenager back in the 60s. I remember on one show, there was a contest where the winner would win mark Lindsay's ponytail LOL( unfortunately I didn't win)

Not totally. Drake Levin was the original guitarist, joined the National Guard and replaced by Jim Valley seen here who left soon after due to “creative differences” with Revere/Lindsey.
This was the first album I ever bought....remember where and when. Need to listen to it again tomorrow. Glad I kept all my Raider albums. You will be missed, Paul. So glad I got to see you 3 times in the past decade.

susan goryan Yes, they announced that Mark alone was going to be a guest DJ on a Sat. I grabbed my camera and my best friend and I took the bus up to 1401 S Oak Knoll... the Huntington Sheraton, I think it was back then, where KRLA was located on the grounds. I think Johnny Hayes was on that day. We could not get in but waited outside until he came out. My camera failed! but I still have his autograph. He was quite nice to us. Yes, Dave Hull, Bob Eubanks, Rebel Foster, Charlie O'Donnel, Casey Kasem and Dick Biondi...we worshipped them all.

One thing I really wish about PR and the Raiders, is that they had done more concerts where you could hear them play and perform several songs. Mostly what we have are singles that aired on various TV shows. This was a really great band, great to watch, great songs overall and really good harmonies on some songs. Maybe they didn't take themselves as seriously as their fans did.
I wonder who their choreographer was. Sweet dance moves. lol Great time period of music. We wouldn't be where we are today without these pioneers of rock.
The "steps" were something best friends Volk and Levin did, they didn't even plan it that way, it just happened, and it became a trademark of the band. It was natural showmanship. Harpo was a good guitarist but he struggled a bit with the steps. I liked him anyway.

Yeah, PaulRevereRidesAgain. I caught em all, fortunately. I had a feeling they they wouldn't last that long. You can get those on a DVD that sells on ebay from time to time.
Paul Revere and the Raiders had a very strong following in the Seattle area. Local disc jockey at KJR would do short interviews with the band every couple of weeks. They were a great band and live performances of theirs were a blast.
Phil and Mark still tour,not together though. They are still belting them out, sounding and looking good. It would be great to get these two R&R Legends to tour together.The Great Airplane Strike is one of my favorites. It was nice that the guitar players got to stay out front for part of the song.
I remember growing up with all this positive music(born 1965) and I feel very fortunate to have experienced radio when it was in it's heyday. Also,the first time I saw Adam and the Ants,I thought " this is England's answer to Paul Revere & The Raiders" Not just with the costumes,but wit such a diversity of music.I'll always love y'all. .
I don't think they ever played live at least on any early television appearances. But then again, who did? I love the choreography with the guitar and bass player. Their greatest hits album is still one of my all-time favorites. Mark Lindsay had that raspy, almost soul searching voice. They really look like they were having fun. What's more important than that? Okay, money.
I remember this performance. I saw them at my rich uncles house. You know... The Raiders in color! Up to that point I would only see them in Black and White on the Show "Where the Action Is"
yes, the Great Airplane Strike--good song, clever lyrics. it was also a "long song" for it's time. most pop/rock tunes ran about two and a half to three minutes. this one clocked out at 4 minutes plus.

These so called "Classic/Oldies Stations" will play the same play list over and over, and if you call and request something outside the format it will not get played, I stopped listening to that format years ago. I've always remembered this one (since it was in color unlike Where the Action Is was back then). It aired in winter and I remember my best friend Dayle coming over to see it (they didn't have a color TV yet). After the show, my uncle had to take my friend home and his car had iced over. I just remember the three of us scraping and scraping to get the ice off the windshield, so my girlfriend could get home. My uncle Joe gave me dirty looks for the next week, but Dayle and I had a wonderful time.
I WAS IN THE EIGHTH GRADE AND HAD TABLOID PICTURES ALL OVER MY LOCKER.I WAS IN LOVE WITH MARK LINDSAY AND THEIR MUSIC WAS WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME.IT WAS RARE I GO 97 CENTS BUT WHEN I DID I WENT AND BOUGHT A 45 RECORD.STILL HAVE MOST OF THEM IN GARAGE.ALL THE WAY UP TO RAP AND THEY RUINED ALL GOOD MUSIC.

Carl Driggs was an energetic lead singer and performer, similar to Mark Lindsay.

PP&R's is the very first big concert i ever saw. i was in 8th grade. interestingly i dont remember the guitar and bass guys doing their "steps" like i see in all these videos now. loved this band way back in the day!!!
These guys had an amazing Rock energy...and a zestful flair.
I used to watch all these shows as a teenager back in the 60s. I remember on one show, there was a contest where the winner would win mark Lindsay's ponytail LOL( unfortunately I didn't win)
Funny how back then, rock music was just for "the kids". It has stood the test of time and now of course is for all ages.
A wonderful memory. Paul Revere and the Raiders are just one of many great bands that I saw on The Hollywood Palace.

Much of that choreography was the work of Toni Basil. You may remember her in the song "Mickey". She's been around for a long time.

"Walk, don't run", "Hawaii Five O", "Wipeout", "Apache" et.al. All instrumentals. Great ones but no vocals. I remember the Ventures who were inside my generation. They didn't dance either. ha
@@kiltedwolf2 google it. Its an interview with Paul Revere. Interesting read. He talks about how the band started, how the members came and left, how they ended up wearing the Revolutionary war costumes...and how they got into the sychronized moves. He never mentioned Toni Basil.

Not totally. Drake Levin was the original guitarist, joined the National Guard and replaced by Jim Valley seen here who left soon after due to “creative differences” with Revere/Lindsey.

This was the first album I ever bought....remember where and when. Need to listen to it again tomorrow. Glad I kept all my Raider albums. You will be missed, Paul. So glad I got to see you 3 times in the past decade.

susan goryan Yes, they announced that Mark alone was going to be a guest DJ on a Sat. I grabbed my camera and my best friend and I took the bus up to 1401 S Oak Knoll... the Huntington Sheraton, I think it was back then, where KRLA was located on the grounds. I think Johnny Hayes was on that day. We could not get in but waited outside until he came out. My camera failed! but I still have his autograph. He was quite nice to us. Yes, Dave Hull, Bob Eubanks, Rebel Foster, Charlie O'Donnel, Casey Kasem and Dick Biondi...we worshipped them all.

@@Redwhiteblue-gr5emThere was proto punk music that existed before the Punk explosion during the 70s. Many of the garage bands offered sounds that were precursors of what would come to be known as punk. Paul Revere & The Raiders, besides pop rock, blues, also played garage rock.
One thing I really wish about PR and the Raiders, is that they had done more concerts where you could hear them play and perform several songs. Mostly what we have are singles that aired on various TV shows. This was a really great band, great to watch, great songs overall and really good harmonies on some songs. Maybe they didn't take themselves as seriously as their fans did.
MOST EXCELLENT!! As many times PR&R appared on network TV in the 60s, I'm amazed there are not more videos available online. Thanks for sharing this.

The "steps" were something best friends Volk and Levin did, they didn't even plan it that way, it just happened, and it became a trademark of the band. It was natural showmanship. Harpo was a good guitarist but he struggled a bit with the steps. I liked him anyway.

Yeah, PaulRevereRidesAgain. I caught em all, fortunately. I had a feeling they they wouldn't last that long. You can get those on a DVD that sells on ebay from time to time.
Paul Revere and the Raiders had a very strong following in the Seattle area. Local disc jockey at KJR would do short interviews with the band every couple of weeks. They were a great band and live performances of theirs were a blast.
Phil and Mark still tour,not together though. They are still belting them out, sounding and looking good. It would be great to get these two R&R Legends to tour together.The Great Airplane Strike is one of my favorites. It was nice that the guitar players got to stay out front for part of the song.
I remember growing up with all this positive music(born 1965) and I feel very fortunate to have experienced radio when it was in it's heyday. Also,the first time I saw Adam and the Ants,I thought " this is England's answer to Paul Revere & The Raiders" Not just with the costumes,but wit such a diversity of music.I'll always love y'all.

I don't think they ever played live at least on any early television appearances. But then again, who did? I love the choreography with the guitar and bass player. Their greatest hits album is still one of my all-time favorites. Mark Lindsay had that raspy, almost soul searching voice. They really look like they were having fun. What's more important than that? Okay, money.
I remember this performance. I saw them at my rich uncles house. You know... The Raiders in color! Up to that point I would only see them in Black and White on the Show "Where the Action Is"

yes, the Great Airplane Strike--good song, clever lyrics. it was also a "long song" for it's time. most pop/rock tunes ran about two and a half to three minutes. this one clocked out at 4 minutes plus.

These so called "Classic/Oldies Stations" will play the same play list over and over, and if you call and request something outside the format it will not get played, I stopped listening to that format years ago. Thank God for TH-cam where one could bring up and listen to what ever one remembers!

Which is interesting, considering how huge of a hit it was at the time.
I've always remembered this one (since it was in color unlike Where the Action Is was back then). It aired in winter and I remember my best friend Dayle coming over to see it (they didn't have a color TV yet). After the show, my uncle had to take my friend home and his car had iced over. I just remember the three of us scraping and scraping to get the ice off the windshield, so my girlfriend could get home. My uncle Joe gave me dirty looks for the next week, but Dayle and I had a wonderful time.
I WAS IN THE EIGHTH GRADE AND HAD TABLOID PICTURES ALL OVER MY LOCKER.I WAS IN LOVE WITH MARK LINDSAY AND THEIR MUSIC WAS WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME.IT WAS RARE I GO 97 CENTS BUT WHEN I DID I WENT AND BOUGHT A 45 RECORD.STILL HAVE MOST OF THEM IN GARAGE.ALL THE WAY UP TO RAP AND THEY RUINED ALL GOOD MUSIC.
