I was pleasantly surprised you went with the two roles, as this is very similar to my own lore for my "Clan" (Kinship of the Valley). In short: My "Clan" is a group of cats living in harmony with the main Clans and are strongly connected to the spirits they see and hear in the water. My medicine cats are called Soothers or WaterSoothers depending on experience and role. They are trained not only physically but also to psychologically heal others. The main difference from your idea is that the Soother does both jobs but only becomes a WaterSoother when they master both areas. So usually, you have two Soothers with both of them having a specialty in one of the healing methods, or a Soother and a WaterSoother.

I love that blindness is a mark of power, it’s kinda like their ancestors needed to input an obvious trait on a special cat so the clans are aware of what to do with them, kinda like how someone might tag an item or color code information to organize it
I enjoy when people take the roles like medcat and just rework them to be less limited. I enjoy this change a lot, because it showcases that the clans have both science AND faith.
Now that I think about it, the idea that the car knocked Hareheart's jaw into an overbite, and then getting the name Hareheart from the clan partly because of how their teeth stick out, feels very BayClan. Not sure how much sense that made, I'm just thinking things and re-watching the playlist.
I thought at first the idea was pretty good but now… WOW. The lore fits in so well and I love the idea of Pebble Star having a sibling who’s design is so BEAUTIFUL! This is so awesome great job! ✨

I think calling them “medicine cats” would be so much more normal/accepted? If they CALLED IT MEDICINE like I’m pretty sure they only called it medicine once in the cannon books, at that point call ‘em “herb cats” or something.
im jewish too and i totally agree!! i think changing the medicine cat role to be both less ignorant to indigenous cultures and less christianized when it comes to the religious aspects.
I was a bit dubious when you mentioned this change in a community post, but I have to say that I believe you made a very well thought out decision here and I am excited to see where it goes.

So much of what you said in the beginning is SO TRUE, im currently writing a warriors oc book of my own and i can say with certainty that looking back at the beginning my writing has definitely improved and i would never go back and edit the beginning to be better because it shows just how much progress has been made. It shows me that i have improved and will continue to improve. Keeping that bit of writing that may not be great is essential because it says that nothing is perfect and imperfections lead to better work, no one starts off doing things perfectly, they make mistakes, they make low quality stuff, but it feels SO GOOD to look back on that and realize "wow ive gotten way better" or to look at something you're working on and see progress being made or to start a project whether it be animating or writing and see it finally finished, brings you this sense of peace and pride that can be hard to find especially in hard or dark times.

This is so cool!! I did a similar thing with my own universe :D I have "healers" and a "historian" my clans are actually called sanctions, and overall only sanction 1 (basically first class) has a historian. The cat is never allowed to show their entire body to another cat after they are chosen. The historian gets a sign that the kit will be born, so once their 3 moons really their never seen again and they start training to be the next historian. They spend their lives in a huge ravine, painting and carving the clans history and speaking with the dead to tell prophecies to the overall ruler (the monarch) as well as learn the clans history from messages of their dead ancestors. And healers, well heal lol, they can have 3-12 overall at any given time spread across the sanctions
this is the first video of your series, and i am already pretty invested. hearing that one of the clans has a car dodging sport made me pause. this seriously seems like a really fun story
Haven’t tried this yet, but I definitely want to. It’s a really cool concept and I like how this gives room to flesh out the different sides of the job in the books

I really like your idea of splitting the role into two. It makes sense and solves that nagging discomfort with how MCs are treated in the books. I've always just called them healers and tried not to think about the problems surrounding them too hard. I may end up adopting this kind of lore for the future some time where it makes sense. Unfortunately with the ClanGEN game it kind of does all that for you, so it be hard to separate it...
Although I suppose you could say that the mediators are the ones with a connection to starclan - and since they dont go on patrol, you can say that when a medicine cat has somwthing starclan related to them on patrol, then you can just say that the mediator tagged along on that one or something...

Also I'm thinking about making a custom warrior cats world/ custom clans (maybe even herbs) and I might actually use your idea for one of the clans because I love it! I love this. I actually have a similar thing for my own clans, except they’re called healers, councilors, and a third role called gardeners. (Cats who’s whole job is to grow and tend to the herb gardens, because in my territories herbs are pretty rare and the environment is pretty hostile, so plants need round the clock care to thrive.)

Me too! It's my favorite thing. You can have OCs or whole clans with the same name but the creator will have done something totally different with them. It goes to show how cool individual creativity is.
In the warriors roleplay servers I’m in, we tend to break the medicine cat role into “Healer” and “Guided” but sometimes we can have even more special roles like that, one server I’m in has 4, because there’s a lot more religious and/or supernatural stuff in that story.
I feel like this gives the beautiful opportunity for doctors and guids to have a close stable relationship with eachother similar to an ace marriage or super close sibling/friends where they arent an intimate pair but the still deserve to have a partner and can kinda wiggle the rules that way without having to fight for a new rule.
Moongaze kinda reminds me of my therapist. She too, deals in only hard truths. Very helpful for me personally, though I imagine it would be more rough for people more sensitive. Unfortunately for these guys, they can’t go through the hell of finding the right therapist. They are stuck with one

I already have most of my characters in mind but I just cant think of what some of them look like so Im always on the hunt for inspiration. I at the end heard something about a MistClan and about 2 to 3 months ago I got bored and made a Warriors oc. Then, a week later I made my own Clan based on that oc and used a name generator and got MistClan... that surprised me a lot to hear at the end and tbh I thought MistClan was an odd name and didnt think anyone else would use it-

I also don't think cats even know about the word medicine. That's a human word. I think herb cat or healer cat is better. Well, maybe a Kittypet would know what medicine is, but I don't think it would stick in the clans.

honestly i think calling them healers or meds/medics, cause healer is what the tribe of rushing water calls their leader, and med/medic is shortened for medicine, i dont think cats would know the word doctor
Agreed. I neither like „medicine cat“ nor (even worse) „doctor“. In the german version they’re called „healer cats“ (Heilerkatze) which sounds far better than the other options

So here's the lore in case anyone cares. I've kept the title medicine cats and changed the title from Guides to Seers. Of course the Seers do exactly the same thing as a Guide but one difference is that they get their own den. Also, the medicine cats are allowed to have kits while the Seers can't. And medicine cats no longer go to the Moonmeadow (the Moonpool basically except it's a cave filled with glowing flowers) and instead a medicine cat apprentice would go through an assessment just like a Warrior except with herbs. A Seer apprentice, on the other paw, would still go to the Moonmeadow to be blessed by Starclan. Here's how the hierarchy goes: Leader. Deputy. Seer. Medicine cat. Elders. Warrior/Caretakers (like Queens but for both She-cats and Toms.) Apprentices. Kits.
This has nothing to do with medicine cats but with StarClan. My Clan does not believe in the Dark Forest, so every cat goes to StarClan regardless of what they've done. Evil cats are separated from the good cats with their own territory.
I love the fact that your including (to what I presume) a non-binary cat. It’s a bit sad how the canon warriors sticks to very outdated views, and has (as i know) never canon-ly included a lgbtq+ cat to which they outright stated their orientation. It would be cool if they added an aro/ace cat, to maybe help curb the social standard that pressures cats to have a mate. This would definitely shake the culture of the clans up a bit and I think would be a very nice refresher from the classic “cat loves a cat from another clan” story.

At first I was reluctant to comment on these Warriors videos because I don’t want to support the ‘story team’ for the simple reason that I cannot sympathize with or understand their choices with their story. But I want to help this story because it’s clear that it’s *not* part of the harmful societies that the canon Clans have. Loving to see how this story is coming together

i think the no children thing for guides would make sense. your therapist definitely shouldnt be your mother, or your uncle, because they could easily let bias get in the way of clear judgement. This could affect other cats too, like a guide favoring their relative in an argument or something. Though it becomes less of a problem if theres multiple guides but idk! i just wanted to comment this !

I really like your idea of splitting the role into two. It makes sense and solves that nagging discomfort with how MCs are treated in the books.
I've always just called them healers and tried not to think about the problems surrounding them too hard.
I may end up adopting this kind of lore for the future some time where it makes sense. Unfortunately with the ClanGEN game it kind of does all that for you, so it be hard to separate it...
Although I suppose you could say that the mediators are the ones with a connection to starclan - and since they dont go on patrol, you can say that when a medicine cat has somwthing starclan related to them on patrol, then you can just say that the mediator tagged along on that one or something...

I love this. I actually have a similar thing for my own clans, except they’re called healers, councilors, and a third role called gardeners. (Cats who’s whole job is to grow and tend to the herb gardens, because in my territories herbs are pretty rare and the environment is pretty hostile, so plants need round the clock care to thrive.)

In the warriors roleplay servers I’m in, we tend to break the medicine cat role into “Healer” and “Guided” but sometimes we can have even more special roles like that, one server I’m in has 4, because there’s a lot more religious and/or supernatural stuff in that story.

I feel like this gives the beautiful opportunity for doctors and guids to have a close stable relationship with eachother similar to an ace marriage or super close sibling/friends where they arent an intimate pair but the still deserve to have a partner and can kinda wiggle the rules that way without having to fight for a new rule.

I have made quite a few changes but this made me realize I haven't thought about medicine cats.. at all. Like I haven't even assigned each clan one. So here's the lore in case anyone cares. I've kept the title medicine cats and changed the title from Guides to Seers. Of course the Seers do exactly the same thing as a Guide but one difference is that they get their own den. Also, the medicine cats are allowed to have kits while the Seers can't. And medicine cats no longer go to the Moonmeadow (the Moonpool basically except it's a cave filled with glowing flowers) and instead a medicine cat apprentice would go through an assessment just like a Warrior except with herbs. A Seer apprentice, on the other paw, would still go to the Moonmeadow to be blessed by Starclan. Here's how the hierarchy goes:
Leader.
Deputy.
Seer.
Medicine cat.
Elders.
Warrior/Caretakers (like Queens but for both She-cats and Toms.)
Apprentices.
Kits.
What program do you use. Procreate? Clip Studio? If Procreate, what brushes?
This has nothing to do with medicine cats but with StarClan. My Clan does not believe in the Dark Forest, so every cat goes to StarClan regardless of what they've done. Evil cats are separated from the good cats with their own territory.

I love the fact that your including (to what I presume) a non-binary cat. It’s a bit sad how the canon warriors sticks to very outdated views, and has (as i know) never canon-ly included a lgbtq+ cat to which they outright stated their orientation. It would be cool if they added an aro/ace cat, to maybe help curb the social standard that pressures cats to have a mate. This would definitely shake the culture of the clans up a bit and I think would be a very nice refresher from the classic “cat loves a cat from another clan” story.

i think the no children thing for guides would make sense. your therapist definitely shouldnt be your mother, or your uncle, because they could easily let bias get in the way of clear judgement. This could affect other cats too, like a guide favoring their relative in an argument or something. Though it becomes less of a problem if theres multiple guides but idk! i just wanted to comment this !
