Good morning JZ farm team. As someone who spent years working in the Everglades farming area on farms and often alone, with nothing but the sound of the wind and birds , I can truly appreciate Jojos comment on being alone out in the fields with the sound of the farm equipment and the good smell of freshly plowed earth. I always loved the smell of freshly cut grass( we have lots of big sod farms down here, but by far and away, the best smell for me was being in a big orange grove with millions of tiny orange blossoms blooming at the same time. Talk about an aromatic bouquet for your sense of smell !!!! I enjoy your videos very much and look forward to the big changes you have coming next year, keep up the good work!😎👍👍👍

@Repent-and-believe-in-Jesus1 As a poor honest carpenter, all I have left is my relationship with the lord, my wife of 45 years, and my tools.
Two years ago I was facing a critical loss of weight and foreclosure of our mountain home of 24.7 years.
The system has been co-opted--- we saw first hand in a 7-year court case against the Big bank.
My relationships are the most important equity remaining.
A country built upon Christian values, farmers, carpenters, and other hard-working types. Lawyers and Insurance and and Agents are those who may never repent, nor have lasting relationships.
Often loss reminds us of our true wealth.

I used to do a lot of writing and instructions. Then that changed a lot and then I retired after a couple of heart attacks. I started with I guess #1 was when you said something about loosing your mate. That broke my heart for you. So much for that. I'm still here and just on thing that gets me is why you crawl in a cattle watering metal tub loaded with ice. It is 9 degrees now in East Tennessee. Keep it up and I have to tell you that what you are doing is compared to my farm life with a Single Flat Bottom plow, a bog/disk harrow and a Ferguson 30 tractor on approx 60 acres. But young lady you wasn't born yet. Keep it up and I will be watching along with thousands of others. We love what you are doing. Jim

I watch almost everything that you send out. I appreciate your sunny personality and how you and Zack banter with each other. You are absolutely adorable when you're nervous like when you were about to make that turn with that VT behind you.
You were wondering about our winter experiences. I drive a long haul semi, almost 40 years now. This year I got to experience a little more of winter in the Mid-South. As of right now I am near Effingham Illinois and I would rather be here than anywhere down south when it starts snowing. At least in the North people know what to do with this stuff.
Back in 2021 I was in the Memphis area and I got stuck in a truck stop for a week by 8 in of snow in that town. Nothing was moving, everything was closed. And then Rush Limbaugh died, that was a tough week.
I don't complain about the weather anymore, all it does is make me grumpy. I just roll with the punches as best as I can.
I'm glad you're a successful as you are with TH-cam, you brighten my day every time I get a chance to look at one of your videos or shorts. You keep it up.
    Gerry

I always like watching you and Zach going about your daily lives together. You all give me hope for the human race. I am a retired truck driver so I do not have to get out in the winter. My heart hurts for those that do. Here in Southwest Virginia, so far we have had just a little cold and almost no snow. My daughter has a hobby farm and she and her daughter are doing it alone. It gets hard for them but I have seen the "girl power" in action and its awesome. Thanks as always for sharing your life with us.

First of all, thankfully here in the SW corner of Missouri, we had less than an inch of snow. The worst part was 3 consecutive night of SUB-ZERO temps. Fortunately its warmed up a bit by now, and thanks to my experiences in past frigid weather in winter I had no pipes freeze.
Now, as for your learning how to VT, I understand your anxiety as you were doing it THE VERY FIRST TIME IN YOUR LIFE!! Sweetie, Thats a natural and normal feeling, especially since nowadays we are working with such large and expensive equipment. ( by the way, I'm now 68 years old ) You should have seen the panic in my face and heard it in my voice the day the farmer I've worked part time as needed the past 20 years since I had to retire early that he was going to teach me how to operate his 467 JD big round hay baler! ( I was so afraid I'd tear something up in the baler and literally destroy it. ) Growing up on my family's farm, we never had our own haying equipment, we normally bought the hay we needed as we didn't have a large number of cattle. Fast forward now 10 or 12 years and I'm feeling as though I've done it all my life.
Growing up on my family's farm, I began simply working the fields with our disk, at the time the main final tillage tool available, at the young age of 9 years old! However, I was driving a 55 engine HP tractor pulling a 10 foot disk. No way would I turn a 9 year old kid loose on today huge equipment ( now I'm operating JD tractors up to 295 engine HP and implements up to 32 feet wide ). The only no-till planting we do is double-crop soybeans, and once in a while some first crop beans as well. Our soil has too much clay content and does not warm up enough without opening it up to plant corn. With corn, we can leave the soil a little rougher and finish with just the field cultivator since the temps are cooler and soil doesn't dry out as quickly. We only use VT as a finishing tool to leave a fairly firm and far less cloddy seedbed for planting most of the first crop soybeans since the temps are warmer. After harvesting corn, we also use VT ahead of the wheat sowing drill to not only make a finer seedbed but help chop the cornstalks up the the disk didn't completely chop up. He likes rising first to save his OM., and if we have some seedy fields going to beans, it also turns them under better making for easier planting.
When you've done VT several times,it will become like a walk-in-the-park for you. I PROMISE!!!! Y'all have our prayers as well hun!!

I see that VT unit and can tell it does a really good job of chopping up the surface debris without making the surface so clean that it’ll blow. My wife & I are not farmers but we fell in love with a house out in the country that is between two farmer's fields that rotate each year between soy beans and corn. It is so quiet out here that we can hear the windmills of the wind farm turn. We, in western Ohio, are on the edge of the Polar Vortex so we are experiencing temperatures only in the teens and upper single digits, no negative numbers. We have finally received about an inch of snow this winter. I do not miss the lake affect snow as I grew and worked up north and along the Great Lakes from our current location. ( about a foot to 2 feet more of snow compared to where I am now living) My grandfather and mother farmed and one of my better friends from high school still is farming. If you can call dairy farming, farming rather than grazing. The soil where I grew up is too poor to grow food crops properly. Enjoying learning about how to grow food crops rather than silage crops.( crops to feed the cows)

Thank you Jojo and Zack for this video. Not a farmer but maybe if there WAS a Fountain Of Youth I might give at least some small scale farming a shot. Nonetheless, you two offer a learning experience for us all. Living in a residential area, if I was to be dropped off in your fields I would just run and run through them enjoying that vast area of beauty and solitude. Got nearly 7 inches of snow here in Nashville, Tn which is a major rarity. My street is slick so I haven't been out and about since Sunday. I did shovel my driveway and actually enjoyed that since I like snow overall. The weather's just been crazy this past year. Again, thanks! Be safe!! 😊❤

It always made me feel there's a real connection between the land and the farmer that only they have the opportunity to enjoy.

Very, very, very good episode. You guys both do a great job at telling y'alls story. Coming from the video production industry, I didn't say that much about TH-cam channels. The only thing I might suggest is a few more close up shot to help illustrate what you are explaining in your narrative parts. I also know that the farm work comes first, so that was a suggestion, not a criticism. All in all, I find your channel thourally entertaining, and I enjoy leaving the odd comment on how much I love your channel and how crazy cold dips are. Keep up the great work, and soon you will have 1M subs.

Coyote is probably looking for mice, bugs and grubs. We have all had times when things clog up way too often. Good driving, it takes some getting used to. Zac is a legend, patient and informative. Good show jojo. Our guys order water from the dam water department, so they need to wait until it arrives in a few days time before pumping. They need to be on top of their water ordering . People with bores like you, have a total they can pump over the year and it is audited, I guess that is what you are doing, providing numbers to show if you are under your allocation.

Before we went to no till I pulled a 10ft JD plowing disc and followed with a 18 ft spring tooth. I had 2 AC D19 tractors at the time. No cabs of course.
When I was a a little kid my dad plowed 80 acre fields with a 2 14 bottom plow pulled with an AC WD 45 tricycle tractor. It took him over an hour to make his first round. The better part of a week to do a field.
We never invested a lot in equipment but slowly moved more and more into cattle. We used to have hogs too but the big confinement operators made that unprofitable.

Nothing but straight road from the state lune to Indianapolis, but for whatever reason it seeya challenge for many to navigate safely. Hey, just curious. Are there many people growing potatoes in western Kansas on irrigated ground these days?

I’m not sure on the exact number but I have heard of a couple neighboring farmers that do it! I would love to see their equipment

Get with the neighbors and do a spud video. Believe it or not potato growing does have some interesting equipment involved. Planting potatoes will be happening in spring when soil temps stay consistently above freezing. They do not need to be nearly as warm as corn to plant. @@JojoSnow01

I live in Southern California so it always makes me smile when people say its cold outside when its 50 degrees outside. Being a city boy anything that has to do with farming or farm equipment fascinates me. I have two questions, do you rotate crops and if you do how often and with what plant.

More like hundreds of thousands when new JoJo, rough guess... Don't worry... I drive long haul... Truck and trailer im drivin is worth around $85000, plus the cost of freight... Some days im runnin half a million dollars down the road, others, maybe $120k lol you learn to not notice so much what things are worth and pay attention to what your doin and get comfortable. Takes a few years. I quit looking at my BOLs for product and only for a hazmat column. As long as i dony see hazmat, i dont care. Just easier that way. I treat every load the same lol

I made a couple of turns too tight many years ago. I snagged hydraulic hoses on a tire and tore some stuff up real good. You remind me of my times riding an old Case tractor many years ago.
