Most Reliable Australian Dividend Stocks in 2024 | Stockopedia Analysis

- Dividend yield is often the most treasured signal for dividend investors. Unfortunately, the yield ignores the dividend history, the profitability of the company, the likelihood of a dividend trap, or any of the other points which give a holistic view of a good dividend stock. In this video I ignore the yield completely, taking twelve other signals to narrow down the Australia and New Zealand Stock Market's 1845 stocks to just 18 that met all 12 of my qualifying criteria.
Criteria Used:
➡️ Stock Exchange - ASX and NZX only
➡️ Dividend Per Share - Above $0
➡️ Annual Dividend Streak - Last 10 years consecutively
➡️ DPS Increase Count - 6+ of Last 10 Years
➡️ Dividend Payout Ratio - Above 33%
➡️ Market Capitalisation - Above AU$200M
➡️ Debt to Equity - Below 200% or 2x
➡️ Stockopedia Quality Rank - 80+
➡️ Consecutive Positive EPS - 5 of the past 5 Years
➡️ Relative Strength (5 Years) - 5% or Above
➡️ EPS CAGR (5 Years) - Above 5%
➡️ FCF to Sales - Above 5%

Interview. So ALU is getting off the market? Can still see their stocks in. Or they are taking dividends off?
Yes, the board has approved a sale to Renesas Electronics in Japan. What happens now is Renesas needs approval from the ALU shareholders, the Australian courts, and the regulators. They offered A$68.50 per share, and the stock is sitting just below this at A$67.60 in recognition the sale hasn't yet completed, and there's always a risk it doesn't go through. As we near the completion date, or more approvals are met, the stock price on the ASX will creep up as investors see the sale more likely to happen.
Dividends are also unlikely between now and the sale, as the new shareholders will likely want to retain profits as part of the sale
So in your opinion, out of these 18 stocks, which is the best performer.
Pick stocks you believe in. If he answers that question, it would be his opinion. Take his research and expand on it.
