Hey Rajiv, I just wanted to let you know that I'm 31 and was suffering from severe depression and anxiety since age 16. I've overcome my childhood trauma(that I didn't even know existed before 2024.) Once I recently realized I had no positive role models, especially male role models in my life, I started to look and stumble upon your videos. They were a breath of fresh air, calm and joyful, educational, and just relaxing to experience. Your authenticity bursts through your videos. I know self doubt creeps in when creating or just simply living. If I can ease that for just a moment, allow me to. Nowadays, I do what I want, when I want. Seems simple, but not easy to incorporate instantly. I wear my nice things regularly because they feel nice and make me feel good. I deserve to feel good because I deserve to be loved, and I love myself. It's that simple. I believe my first video I saw was you teaching me how to wash white laundry with bluing, when I was scrolling at 2am and lightly procrastinating sleep. I have never been so focused on a laundry video. My biggest silly compliment is "You are so authentic, you can capture an audience's attention while speaking about LAUNDRY." Thank you for the inspiration to live a happier and peaceful life. I didn't know I needed it! Keep doing you man. It speaks to people.
It’s not a storage locker Rajiv, it’s your own personal curated museum. ❤ also, feeling pretty proud as i keep my books in similar way down to small knickknacks on top of them. It just always feels more mine to me than a library shelf.
As my mother grew older and If ask her what she’s been doing with her day, she’d often say “playing with my things”. This was happiness for her. This is a wonderful video!
From now on, every time I’m invited into someone’s personal space, I’m asking them, “Can I see your treasures?” … IN that exact voice. Thank you for sharing this special part of your story! ❤
When I was getting into macrobiotic cooking, I called a lady who taught workshops I’d attended and asked her, “May I come to your house and look in your kitchen cupboards?” She actually let me and I learned so much by seeing all the foods and tools in situations. But she told me it was the most exciting thing anyone had ever asked her for and a great compliment. She was so awesome.

After watching some of your videos I have been thinking of things slightly differently. I found a lovely leaded crystal dish at my local Goodwill for $3.99. Now, instead of storing my makeup supplies in a cheap plastic box, I keep them in this beautiful crystal dish out on my countertop. It makes me smile every time I use it. I hear that lovely, magical tone of ringing when I put the lid on the dish. Ahhhhh...... I plan on replacing several everyday things in my home. I have learned this from you. Thanks for inspiring me.
Totally, my cheap and soulless ikea fruit bowl got replaced by a crystal bowl I got for a tenner in a charity shop. Love grabbing an apple out of it when I make lunches for my boys. Looks great on my counter and take pleasure stocking it with fresh fruit. 🤜🏻⚡️🤛🏻
@@PhotoRam405 My issue is more with the culling out stuff. I keep rearranging my garage organization because I have more to organize. Sigh. My car is in the garage and I have decided to throw something in the trash bin every time I go to my car. Might take awhile, but ya gotta start somewhere!
Ah, Rajiv, finally you reveal the secret of your Mary Poppins bag of an apartment! Every time you pull out your Victorian butcher paper roll dispenser I look around my 500 square foot apartment screaming "Where did it come from? How??!"

Rajiv just saw that you made it to The NY Times! So happy for you. You deserve all the recognition. It is nice to see good people getting recognized. Continued success.🙂
All this time, I’ve been wondering how Rajiv manages to have so many hobbies and activities with so little living space. A storage locker didn’t even occur to me. Brilliant organization!

My home, along with my small business, burnt up in flames within a matter of minutes back in February. I curated, cleaned, repaired, and collected many, many beautiful treasures. As heartbroken as I was, (and admittedly still at times) videos like this one, continue to refuel me with enough drive and inspiration to continue on doing what I love and not give up on the joy I give to others and myself. You leave a big imprint on us here on TH-cam, and I am so grateful you give us the opportunity to explore your world, Rajiv. From a fellow antiquarian and multipotentialite, thank you. 💖
I am sure you will finish restoring and finding new ways to put together your life, work, inspiration, and your artistic talent. Be strong and patient and believe in yourself and that everything happens for better. Blessings!
There is something so special about you. I find myself smiling listening to you. During many of your videos, I imagine you in an actual house with windows for fresh air and constant inspiration from nature. So curious if you have ever considered this. I would love seeing you create your own home and gardens.
That is so discouraging and tragic to hear. I hope life continues to 180 for you. I own very, very little. Long ago when I was a child, I began to get rid of things because of trauma. Things that I loved would gradually become sickening to me because of the horrible turns I was being dealt. And their involvement in pockets of time were like horrific mile markers for me. As a result, I have become someone who finds danger in prizing objects... in investing feelings in objects. It is a coping mechanism that I've developed, unfortunately. When, I saw your comment I wanted to immediately ask you if you learned anything or gained a different perspective about the importance placed on things? Did it alter you? Or are you the same? Thanks.
Never thought i would be interested to see someone’s storage locker but here we are 😂 that intro is 💯 will comment on contents after finishing the video 👍
This is on another level. Maybe invest in a home with a spare room to use as a craft/storage space. A person like you truly needs and deserves a spare room in your home.
I loved that you mentioned Playing. I'm 49 and have never lost my childlike imagination. I colour and watch cartoons when the mood strikes and put my wellies on and splash in puddles. It makes me happy!
I help people curate and organize their homes. Today's clients let go of 8 bags of clothing and 10 boxes of books! It's so fun to witness people grow their muscle of discernment and curate a home that tells their story through their most special treasures. It's also humbling to walk alongside seniors who are downsizing and always such a good reminder that our treasures are special, but ultimately we can't take it with us. Thanks for a peek at your curated treasures.❤️
Dearest Rajiv, I am going to be thinking of your Egyptian bedroom created by your 12 year old self, all day! That is so YOU!! I absolutely LOVED this video. Your beautiful storage space transported me to a magical land. We recently moved to a smaller house that we absolutely love and are having so much fun with, and your videos give me such great ideas for how to decorate, curate, and live. Thank you so much for all you do, for sharing it so generously, and for being YOU. ❤
Thank you for showing us "your treasures"!! I love this video and I will organize my treasures that are now hidden in boxed! Sending you love and gratitude!
my advice for anyone with a storage unit - get rolling shelving so that if they raise the price on you and you need to relocate, you can do so more easily also lets you rearrange the space better
So clever! I’m a film costumer and a photo with the actor in their wardrobe is what we use on the garment bag! I’m glad you get to keep your Treasures❤:-)
Thank you for your calm enjoyment of everyday things. You are to adults what Mr. Rogers was for us as kids - a beautiful, peaceful person that invited us in and somehow "listened" to us through a screen all while elevating our sense of happiness 😊
I was arranging my bookshelves the other day and didn't realize it at the time that I had passed from death to life. From chore to play. My bookshelf the canvas of imagination. The child of me resurrected and came out my fingers and danced on the shelves, making beauty. The mind recalled a previous video of yours (or perhaps a few) and my spirit anticipated this one. Its not about 'work vs. leisure,' because both can be either choreful or playful. Thank you for giving us all permission to play.
I’ve been suffering with a chronic illness the last twelve years and it’s taken me this long to finally STOP the chaos of doing too much and and properly take care of myself. I would love to store my treasures this well. You’ve definitely raised my standard for storage! Now that I have more time for myself, I’m going to organize my collections so they’re a joy to look at.
That is your Imagination Room. I am putting together on our second floor an Imagination Room filled with treasures for all in our family to embrace, spark creativity and keep the child within. You have a beautiful spirit.
When this video came in my notification box, I procrastinated in opening it because I said to myself..."I don't want to look at a video on storage!! I finally broke today and opened it!!!! What a true delight! I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this video and wished I had opened it on day 1. Your organization is impeccable! I really need this in my life. Every time I go to my storage space, I get a headache because I don't know where anything is! This is inspiration. Thank you!!
I knew I wouldn’t be the only one to notice “landcsapes” but I disagree that it should not be corrected. As a retired calligrapher, illustrator and signwriter, I feel this must be made right. I love you, Rajiv!
...and when your cousin returned to your auntie siting at the dining room table with your Mum; she asks, "Arun, did you see anything?" Little cousin replies with an enormous grin, "Yes, wonderful things!" 🥰 Thank you for the video and the amazing treasure vault tour. Howard Carter would be proud. Have a wonderful and joyful day! 🤗💖🙏🏻
Wow. You have given me a lot of ideas. I have just gotten our new house organized and now we're moving some things into storage in the back of a huge heated garage. I love how you've organized crafts and related things in bins, and how everything is cleaned before you put it away so that it's clean when you take it out to use it. I also love that storage allows you to collect beautiful things. Storage isn't just things you're too busy to throw away. So many times I see something beautiful, but pass on it because I don't know where I'd put it right now. Or I give something away and then regret it. I love what you've done with the books too. Great ideas.
Wow! I had a pickup truck for many years and have seen many, many storage lockers of friends. While a few were organized, none could have been said to be “curated”! You’ve inspired me to change how I see/think about my own downstairs storage locker behind my parking space… to curate it, not stuff it with junk I’ll deal with someday. That certainly would make it more useful. Thanks.
I don't have the words to tell you how much I love this. I am a senior and we retired to a smaller home. I sold all my Rubbermaid totes after the move and everything I own is neatly stored in closets, cupboards or drawers. I just love seeing things and knowing that I only have things I love is a wonderful feeling. I actually feel sorry for seniors whose large homes and possessions are out of control and they think they can't get rid of it. They will leave it all to there kids who will resent it and throw it out.
I maintained a storage unit--one first paid for by my company as part of my upkeep expenses and, afterwards, paid by me. I justified it because I went from a 4 bedroom house in the sprawling Midwest to a coastal city where I was living in tiny vintage bungalows of one bedroom. Housing is really hard to come by--I actually wanted 2 bedrooms--but you get what is available. So, I justified the expense of a storage unit by reasoning that it was less than getting a place with a second bedroom. I'm an avid estate saler, so I kept my 'treasures' in there, too. And swapped out my seasonal clothes. To anybody considering a storage unit, I suggest you choose the nicest, most high-end one with temperature control. It makes the experience of accessing the unit very pleasant and you'll want to go more often. After 10 years with the unit, though, I finally realized that I had spent over 10K. So, I ditched the unit and don't miss it!
There is something to this that should be considered in the whole decluttering movement. Yes, get rid of stuff you won't ever need and that you don't even like. But I find people are too eager to get rid of everything. It's huge trend in people moving abroad: "Just get rid of it and buy something from IKEA." 🙄 There's a whole cadre of retired expats whose houses look like dorm rooms. My belongings are not replaceable with cheap mass-produced items, for the most part. Many are things I've collected over 40+ years, and they have meaning. Most are vintage, antique, or handmade. I downsized and moved to Mexico after a small recession-induced reversal of fortune. Then I moved back to the States and have a little more space now. I wish I hadn't sold or donated some of my nicer things, as I'd like to use them now. Same with some clothing and jewelry. I probably lean in the opposite direction of hanging onto too many things today (also a reflection of having to be extremely resourceful living outside the US). But I can do a lot of "use what you have" decorating, digging into my treasures when I want to rearrange a space. Fingers crossed I will have an even nicer place one day soon, and I can really go to town. 😂
@@patriciasalem3606 Its hard but I do keep my most favorite things. It extra work but I can keep a few more things that way. Nothing like this storage. But I am working on it.
@@willothewispl This gave me inspiration to reorganize my storage and create a better rotating system. I'm going to put in shelving like that when I have the time and money, hopefully this summer or in the fall. I used to have a storage unit for my job. When the company was bought out, they told me to leave all the shelving in the unit. Oh, how I wish I had kept it...
Since I was a child I have alway loved things neat and tidy and organized. I am 67 and I still do today in my own home. Thank you for sharing this video. It is so inspirational. ❤ 🇨🇦
This is the fine tuning I was supposed to see. For some months now I’ve been sifting through 30 years of things I’ve accumulated, that my children accumulated too. I’ve donated, gifted, thrown out and only kept the truly special momentoes. It’s been a process. Still more to do. I love donating, it’s addictive. I even had two skips come to take away garden rubbish. This place is finally getting the love it deserves.
The very special thing about Rajiv to me is the way he embraces and maximises what is possible for him in the circumstances he's in now. He engages 100% with whatever he's doing, that's his secret. A joy to behold.
I look at Storage Wars all the time and I have never seen a storage locker that looks like this. It is truly magical; I can spend days in here discovering and "playing" with Rajiv's treasures. I am inspired to do this in one of the rooms in my house as we are empty nesters now and we have the space that way I can visit with my treasures anytime I want to. Thank Rajiv!!!
Hey Rajiv, for those holes in your picnic basket, I have seen people 'repair' them with beautiful threads and ribbons. Yes, it looks like a repair, but a super lovely one!
I love this, I store all my things in white paper boxes with lids, and if I have a one thats not white I paint it, this makes me more happy to look trough my storage, the whole thing seems less messy.
Label everything!! YES!!! I help people pack boxes for moves and I'm a stickler for labeling. NO MISC BOXES! If the label is "candles, bath towels and kitchen utensils" write it on the box. I have had friends call me after long moves to say, "omg I'm so glad you made me label the box! I found my spatula immediately!" It just makes me so happy to see a like-minded old soul who loves to live, work and love in a functional bit BEAUTIFUL space. Functional does not equal utilitarian and I think that's something our modern world is missing.
Savoring, thinking, relishing, cherishing, celebrating, educating, appreciating, focusing, meditating, learning, leading - this is how Rajiv approaches objects and the creative process of making beauty for himself and others. What a lovely way to approach life as a personal work of art.
Your storage space is better curated than my apartment.

Your videos are like an early sunday morning baking cookies with Grandma!!! I love them and never want them to end!
Well, now we know that you DO indeed have a little more things than will fit in your small apartment.
Very nice!
Just lovely!
Thank you!!
Landscapes label is spelled incorrectly, must fix! I love how organized you are. It is an art. Also, love the felt shelf liners, stealing that!
I noticed that too! Demystifying ha ha
Me too! 🤭
No, leave it the way it is. You would not have been able to make the correction on a 1910 typewriter. S.
I knew I wouldn’t be the only one to notice “landcsapes” but I disagree that it should not be corrected. As a retired calligrapher, illustrator and signwriter, I feel this must be made right. I love you, Rajiv!
@@lisaleary8988 he wanted to leave a single hint for us to know he is human 😅
I love this so much! The way you've turned your storage locker into a workshop for creativity and inspiration is truly marvelous.
...and when your cousin returned to your auntie siting at the dining room table with your Mum; she asks, "Arun, did you see anything?" Little cousin replies with an enormous grin, "Yes, wonderful things!" 🥰
Thank you for the video and the amazing treasure vault tour. Howard Carter would be proud. Have a wonderful and joyful day! 🤗💖🙏🏻
mr rogers meets martha stewart, i love and appreciate your way of being so much
I love this so much. Your organization and taste is immaculate!!!
You have the most organized and beautiful storage space that I have ever seen.
I feel like I'm watching the Indian version of Mr. Rogers. Rajiv has such an amazing energy and warmth. 😊
Thanks.
It's a thing of beauty. I wouldn't expect anything less. Thanks for this very special video.
OK, but one day you'll have your big beautiful home in Hudson Valley and you can keep everything in one place ❤
My crystal ball says you will with an amazing garden to boot
You make every mundane thing (object, space, task) exceptional and magickal!
I think is the best comments section on the whole of TH-cam! You really are such an inspiration!!
Love this, he’s my kind of person, neat and orderly ….even a storage locker !
Do you ever dream about a house in the country where you can have your treasures living with you?! I love your art! Thank you for the video!
The very special thing about Rajiv to me is the way he embraces and maximises what is possible for him in the circumstances he's in now. He engages 100% with whatever he's doing, that's his secret. A joy to behold.
Somehow I don’t think anyone else’s storage room looks like this lol …….beautiful organization makes a person happy and peaceful!
My she shed house 🏠 and washroom is done the same similar way / time consuming but it's easier to find things
I would love to see the person you mentioned who specializes in designing bookshelves show us how to do that from scratch! Love your channel!
I've never even imagined that a storage area can be organized or a place to enjoy
That was a Howard Carter moment when you opened the door to your storage locker ! Lovely curated treasures!
"Everywhere...a glint of gold!"
Thank you Rajiv! Never have I been so excited to watch a video about a storage locker - I enjoyed it so much!

*Each time I watch your videos, I think he must create a lifestyle brand. The Surendra Collection.*

Hey Rajiv, for those holes in your picnic basket, I have seen people 'repair' them with beautiful threads and ribbons. Yes, it looks like a repair, but a super lovely one!
Oh mylanta!! Of course you have garment bags and matching photographs & felt covered shelves! ❤❤ We wouldn't expect anything less! 😊
I love this, I store all my things in white paper boxes with lids, and if I have a one thats not white I paint it, this makes me more happy to look trough my storage, the whole thing seems less messy.
how is rajiv so heckin precious.
i love the idea of attaching a picture onto the garment bag!
I love how intentional and composed every aspect of your life is. It's inspiring and reminds me of one of my favorite directors, Wes Anderson.
I found my spatula immediately!"
It just makes me so happy to see a like-minded old soul who loves to live, work and love in a functional bit BEAUTIFUL space. Functional does not equal utilitarian and I think that's something our modern world is missing.
Dude you are so special I love this unit!I can’t wait until you buy a house or an apartment so I can see how you put them together 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
Savoring, thinking, relishing, cherishing, celebrating, educating, appreciating, focusing, meditating, learning, leading - this is how Rajiv approaches objects and the creative process of making beauty for himself and others. What a lovely way to approach life as a personal work of art.
A surprise video during the week about storage?! Oh how I love this channel ❤
Damn! The photo on the garment bags is SUCH a GOOD idea!
