Kyle, having worked in hang gliding manufacturing for decades and with the guys that did this similar things, I can spot a couple things that could help you go a bit further. 1) With the additional weight of the bike, the glider you are using (Airborne Shark) Is twisting a bit too much and needs to make more lift, it would help to have more sail tension from the cross bar. It will perform better. 2) the angle of attack of the wing wile you are getting speed is a few degrees too low. It looks like it has negative load as you are moving pushing you down. The ideal angle is what we call “zero” lift. No up or down. Just raise the nose of the glider by 2-3deg. Your design for where the two rear supports seem to be limiting you from pushing back a little more, you need a bit more range of movement. Good luck mate Juan
Related, I don't think pinning the throttle is going to rotate this contraption like it would a bike, and you need better pitch control. Looks like once you're jammed back on the seat against the struts you have no ability to raise that nose. (But mostly, it's just too damned heavy. Magnificent effort, though, cheers!)
Not even close? Dude you made it 2/3 of the way on your first attempt! That’s actually a success considering you didn’t even ask if the camera was waterproof 😜 I could feel your emotions but the first dirt jump did you make it? Ditch the heavy gear to reduce the risk of drowning- that would be a tragedy!
it’s epic to see an Aussie having a crack at this type of moto content! Absolutely spewing you didn’t make it but made for a good video at the very least 🤣 And hope the authorities aren’t giving you to much of a hard time I know how hard it is to do anything cool in aus 🤦🏼♂️
Read a few comments and shook my head. Bro, your a friggen Legend. Failure is a stepping stone to success. Plus its as entertaining as hell! Bring on the next round. Capture and share again and regardless of the outcome your one of my new hero’s. I’ve coordinated many a stunt and Im in your corner.
Brilliant! Looking forward to the next attempt. As a HG pilot of 45 years, getting the right angle to leave the ground will be critical and difficult to perfect with a wheelie........maybe use a small ramp like they do on aircraft carriers? (just watch Top Gun :) )
excellent idea and thumbnail, can't wait for the next go, you're close, needs more speed, maybe trim down the wing to compensate for extra speed, you can do it ;)
check the VNE of the glider and get your bike to be going at that speed if you can before the take off. It looks like a double surface as well so it will perform better if you can pull the VG on it as well. Lastly, like others have said, get a ramp to convert that speed the bike is generating to altitude and your glide will be better. You got this! (do not use a round ramp, you don't want to change the angle of attack by that much because you might stall mid-air and the recovery will just lose you altitude, just a nice straight ramp with like a 15-20 degree angle just to get your some height)
Great, you could make calculations of how much speed you need to move x number of meters and thus cross the river completely or install a powerful fan in the back
What a great vid! Great effort mate. Looking forward to the next attempt. Its kinda like you need to avoid lift until your ready for it. Can you make the glider flatter until your ready to pull back? How do hang gliders control their lift? I'm subscribed to see how you go next attempt. Don't give up! Oh, go the Yamaha 2T for reliability.
Thanks mate appreciate the view and comment. Yeah they hardest thing is building speed without it lifting. Then timing that for the rivers edge between the trees. Much work to do - will get it sorted. Cheers
What were the wind conditions you mentioned that day , you mentioned you were concerned about. Micro climate affects HG massively , pick the right air / wind conditions and you will have more natural assistance . Farkin awesome effort bro … you gonna start flyin JG now 😎🤩🤓
So sick mate.. spewing u didn't seem to get the lift like in the paddock would of greased it itherwise. Heaps of factors to get right on the day but Wind , speed etc etc etc. Was a good Crack tho don't be so hard on yourself. 💪💪💪
Before jumping across a river, you didn't plan what could go wrong? How to avoid it, make it safer... how to fix it? Before trying to jump You should have thought you'll land short on the first tries. You should have thought about how to prepare the bike for water, a snorkell to prevent the engine from sucking water, waterproof the electronics and electrics, add flotation on the bike, have a rope ready for towing... have a boat ready to help just in case. maybe try a narrower river next time. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
Great effort, next time make sure you got a plan b if it goes wrong. Have a spotter in the water in case you get caught under the wing or bike, it happens to the best
It just doesn't get more Australian than this......... gets angry when he lands in the water..........WTF did you think would be the outcome of coming up short?
I was mad because I came up short and that’s 100% my fault, obviously I was trying to make it across. I’m not sure about you but it my books failure isn’t something you celebrate or don’t care about. Feel it, accept it, correct it.
You needed more speed bud, great effort though. Did you kill the engine before you jumped off and the bike hit the water? If you did well get the water out of the motor and get it running asap and if you didn’t let’s hope you didn’t bend the rod or fucked the crank.
Thanks mate, more speed is easier said than done. At some point the kite lifts off before you want it too. It’s also very unstable to ride in a straight line and I’m trying to avoid trees. The kite needs some adjusting to be better but sometimes you just gotta try it and find out
You need a Tandem Glider at least and learn to be the most efficient when the bike leaves the ground, and fly best glide speed thru weight shift. Talk to your local Hang Gliding School .... you are flying a Hang Glider, its math snd physics
Next time don't rev the motor. You can see in the video the bike drop hard from the rotation of the tire. Maybe pull in the clutch or hit the killswitch in flight.
@@MWMXshow listen I would try it but I would probably go a foot. Lol. I didn’t mean to be a troll or mean. But I wrote that bad, sorry for that. But truly I’m also a mechanic I could hear u weren’t in the band. Doesn’t it get little windy there?
Turns out when you've got a big wing designed to keep you in the air about half throttle is as quick as you can go without it taking off. You'll have to try it sometime.
The bike willbe fine have drowned my ktm 200 totally upside down with me under it funny how you can still say fk under water with a dirt bike on top of your . Maybe bigger hangglider would make it easier goog luck i will keep watching bit worried about your landing cause when you make it its not going to land like a normal bike and those supports behind you arse could really fk u up .
Gotta admire the confidence, dude sends it across a river with zero plan for how to recover the kite bike if he didn't make it👍
Lol, true:)
Haha thanks mate! I gave it a red hot crack
He has a tinny and a huge fishing rod

Crap, the thing flew perfectly, He was going to Slow!

If the kit glider had an actual bottom to the wing; it would create lift.
A battery powered fan for thrust would make the damned the fly, like bird.
🎉if at first you don't succeed, fly fly again!
That I will!
All you need is a small ramp bro. You got this.
Thanks mate. Haven't actually tried a ramp on it yet. Very difficult to ride straight at one. will try
Stuff the Ramp, give it more speed!

Thanks mate, I was frustrated that everything was lined up and all that was missing was a bit more speed! Will get it. Cheers appreciate the comment
Yeh I’m with old mate. Flag the Mx gear. Boardies and zinc 🤘

Super brilliant you are 🎉
This is so sick 😂
Can’t wait to see the next attempt dude. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thanks mate. Ep 3 coming in a week or so.
your just falling with style BUZZ LIGHT YEAR
excellent idea and thumbnail, can't wait for the next go, you're close, needs more speed, maybe trim down the wing to compensate for extra speed, you can do it ;)
The bail was perfect timing bro
Think the problem here is the massive set of nuts that wing has to support. Awesome mate.
Haha! Thanks.
Awesome.. anyway you look at it… little kicker at the take off
Straya mate I love it
Cheers mate that's the spirit
little dirt kicker!? epic shizzzznit maddog
Cheers mate. Havent actually tried a ramp, its not as easy and stable to ride as it looks.

Indeed it does

Headwind gusts up to 15km/h. Nothing to bad but hard to predict.
Need a 500 2stroke mate 👍💨🚀 good luck 🏁
That's awesome for first try and glad you didn't drown that's crazy
Thanks.
That’s one hell of a way to dip your head light. Na just kidding mate you had a go nobody’s dead. Well done At least you had a go
Awesome effort bro!
Thanks for watching mate
Such a mad dog stunt!! 2/3 of the way is decent! I'd love to help you with editing!
Thanks mate, I’ll get it.

Just missing the fpv drone chase .. good luck u got it. Just need tad more speed n lift !!
Thanks mate
Need a head wind dude!🤩🤙
How much maintenance did you have to do to get the bike running again?
Not too much, drained it all then roll started it. 2-stroke
Great effort, next time make sure you got a plan b if it goes wrong. Have a spotter in the water in case you get caught under the wing or bike, it happens to the best
Once you stop doing this (which I hop you don't) would that make the YZ an ExKite bike?
I'll show myself out...
come on aussies dont quit you can do this lets go
Thanks mate. The Murray river is Aussies longest and most known waterway which is why I’ve chose it to jump.
More speed and a ramp
More speed not as easy as sounds
Is your bike totaled?
Got it running again. Not the first time I've drowned a bike haha
Unreal!
Cheers
@@MWMXshow ski and paddle tyre back on and ride it out 😆
This is so rad.
Cheers!
I reckon you’ll get it next attempt but landing and riding off will be a harder challenge
Thanks mate. Im happy to crash on the other side just don't like coming up short
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 this is sick!!!!
This is that good 😂😂😂😂!!!! Legend!!
Cheers mate
Better luck next time, dude.
Thanks
You need a Flight Plan. FAA requires it.
Spare me.
Wear a wetsuit, get some divers with a rope, go faster! Good effort though👍👍
Try the Grand Canyon next
Would love too! Evil Knievel style.
Almost dude 👍
Cheers mate
maybe measure how far your jumping to your speed and conditions, then you can asses if you can make the jump.
I’ve done test runs. I can get 70m in the paddock. The gap is 86m. So about 90m needed to clear. It’s tricky tho the wind plays a huge factor
@@MWMXshow make sure your riding into the wind for the lift factor
If you had mounted a front ski just around front tyre slightly elevated you would have skied to the bank
If you’re going to be dumb, you gotta be tough.
More episodes on the way. It gets dumber / tougher.
Good 🤞🏼

Bro the fly longer distances at bird man rally at Moomba tell cassa to stick that up there jumper keep pushing the limit
mad man
Have it a crack!
I’m here from Instagram
Welcome.
more speed!
450?

Ok, I liked AND subscribed, because I want to see you succeed…you absolute fucking GENIUS.
Thanks mate. I won't stop until I make it
If u fail on ur first attempt, its still the furthest u have ever been
Attach the kite to a surron x, less weight you’ll fly for heaps
Next time don't rev the motor. You can see in the video the bike drop hard from the rotation of the tire. Maybe pull in the clutch or hit the killswitch in flight.
Fucking love the internet
Bro I knew it wasn’t close u didn’t hit the band. And shovel a ramp
Easier said than done. It’s very top heavy and unstable. At some point you have to commit and consequences be damned.

Hot rod
Not the brightest spark
WHACK!
that wasn't even close to almost drowning
A tiny lip and you would have made it!)
Put a propeller on that’s bike
Why were you going so slow? Thats why you didn't make it, you were feathering the throttle.Go as fast as you can, not half pace!

Just hit it faster little lip, will make it piss easy
Easier said than done. Much more speed and it takes flight and you lose steering
Did you wear knee braces?
Multiple
Why wouldn’t he attempt jumping it 86m in his field first to see if it was doable, and master that first? This guys kinda dumb 😂
