Rare clip of 47715 still in Scotrail, only worked out of Paddington for a few weeks in that livery after reallocation from Eastfield before paint into NSE in June 1990. . . As i see if i can spot a certain lady driving the 47/50's on the NSE services, Old Oak TMD had just taken on its second female loco driver at this time, while i was spotting there lots, never imagined i'd meet her many years later, funny old world. So, dreams can come true people! :D
I started work for BR around then and did a training course in Reading and we use to have our meals in that square tower at the beginning, Western Tower it was called and there was a bus station underneath it.From the BR dining place on the top,14th floor I think, you had amazing views over the Chilterns and Berkshire Downs.
Interesting: a 31 (looking somewhat in need of assistance itself) dragging a 47 and an Oxford rake. I wonder if it made it to Paddington, looking at the state of it 🤔
Great footage of these old diesels. With some intercity 125s too ( sorry , HSTs as they are known to people now lol ) . Brilliant vid from Reading
Thanks Neil 👍🏻
11:28 the rain just adds to the wonder and atmosphere ❤

Nice, Jamie. Hard to believe it was 30 years ago!

If it did make the 36 miles to the blocks at Paddington the 47 would've been taken to the Common for running repairs.
