I really love these projects in specific where you work with someone who is a professional in the type of medium you are using. It's always fun to see you take a shot at something blind, but videos like this and the bonsai tree one have always been my favorite!
I loved getting to see all of the horses and the stables. It's a part of Jazza's life and family that we don't hear about or see too often and it's really beautiful to see how much he cares about his family.
She turned out gorgeous! I love the juxtaposition of the raw knots and natural form of the tree and the smooth carving of the horse features. There is something really beautiful about being able to leave parts of the medium’s natural structure, almost like honoring the tree as well as the sculpture’s subject. Well done! I didn't think this would make me so emotional. I grew up helping my grandfather (and grandmother) who was a professional chainsaw carver. For the longest time he had this hand carved life-size horse sculpture that he made towards the start of his career. He is older now and in Poor health and I really long for the days that I sat nearby and helped paint, stain, and cleanup ❤❤❤
What a beautiful gift, for some many reasons. It's not just a statue of a horse cause your wife likes horses. It's a very special horse to her, and also the name sake of the ranch. I just think it's so cool when an animal statue goes up in honor of them. And the fact that you had the real life version there with you as it was made, really makes it personal. Every time one of you walks past it now, you will remember this moment, and the joy Hiker brings.
Definitely the best reveal buildup and overall reveal. These two videos have been awesome and I love to see you working with a pro in a niche field. Really gives some perspective on how challenging what you're doing is.

LOVELY! Brandon, WOW! I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. There are a few chainsaw artists around here, so I've seen some examples of this up close. You have MAJOR talent! The nuance you give to the work really kicks it up to an entirely new level as compared to some other chainsaw wood sculpture I've seen. It's more on the level of some ice sculpture. I hope this video gives you an entirely new audience for your work! Thank you, Jazza, for showing us that nobody can do everything, but that knowing how to graciously bring in expert help can make all the difference! I love when Jazza tries something I've also tried. In chainsaw carving, I learned that it's best to use dried out wood, which could involve a dedicated area with proper conditions, and can take upwards of a year to dry if you want to do it properly. I played around with it for a few weeks but eventually moved on to other crafts. I'll eventually try again, but probably when I'm much older and patient or can just buy proper dry wood.
"Maybe a few people might end up being inspired. " I'm nearly always inspired by these videos. When I was first getting into art 6 years ago to now. I've tried new mediums and learned to just go for it sometimes as well as learned a ton of little tricks and how fun story telling behind an art piece can be.

I do woodcarving by hand with a knife. It takes so much attention to be detailed and to work with the grain. So watching Brandon do this with a huge block of wood and with a chainsaw is awe inspiring. His level of control and strength to keep it steady is amazing

What an absolute stunning finished piece of wood. With the right tools and the right skills it is incredible what you can turn things from nature into beautiful art pieces just highlighting natures original art and two more exquisite detail pieces. I will say it is wonderful to see where an artist can admit they are not an expert in all mediums and call in a professional like Brandon whose work I just checked out on Instagram and it is us Downing, as well as phenomenally gorgeous. There are not enough words to describe it. It is just speechless, and the fact that it is done with chainsaws and some minor detail, tools and sanding. Regardless, it is all incredible . I wish I could pick up a form of this in a smaller scale, but any type of fine manipulation with gripping and grasping of the hands my arthritis, despite only being 38 years old that I’ve had since I was 11 will not allow me to do that which is where I live vicariously through TH-cam videos of many artists Across many mediums to admire and enjoy, and sometimes purchase items either custom made or that experts have done and have for sale because I could not re-create them anymore so I utilize others skills to get the craftsmanship. I want to appreciate around me. And because of my no longer capacity and capability to do, many mediums of art whatsoever I mean it is ridiculous to spend over a week to do a single coloring page at a basic child level. That’s when you get frustrated and it hurts where it’s not even worth it that’s where I absolutely appreciate all of the artists that are on social media to share their work and to the places that I can go in person, not just museums or shows, but even just shops that have simple artist creations. I love things that are handmade, and I will always choose handmade over manufactured. I’ve also grown up with my mother, doing crafts of wood painting and selling them at places in Northern California like high hill, ranch, and apple hill for 20 years, having a booth there, and proud of that going to different high schools and craft fairs on the circuit with my grandmother, since I’ve been born, as well as my cousin and my great aunt, the four of them were the ones and I would work the booth and help out with loading unloading so I’ve grown up with that my entire life and my mother when she retired from crafting, got into painting, and started with the watercolor medium. And decided to take a couple courses at our local community college to better understand the actual technical points of watercolor, to make her art even better. It was absolutely beyond a compliment for my mother and I was her only child Daughter, it literally made me cry when at the end of the semester every student took 2 to 3 pieces of their work and framed them for an art show that they had at the campus put on very beautifully where people came in by the art and when her teacher And two other art teachers were fighting over her art pieces that she had done in their classes and her four pieces were gone well they weren’t gone. They were just sold until the end of the night within the first few minutes when my father and I arrived to view everybody’s work, which I purchased another gentleman‘s work that fit my Decour And heard the story from her teacher. I actually started to cry a bit because despite her always being my mother and growing up with it, the fact that experts who teach art in a professional manner, love my mothers work, just as much as I love every single piece she has ever made Made me feel ecstatic and also extremely excited that my mother could see she didn’t have to work so hard at making pieces of art or crafts to sell. I have ridiculously low prices at craft fairs so people would buy them and that her talent was just beginning to advance and escalate in a different medium that had people, kind of fighting for it. I’m not really sure how us to describe it, but the fact that she could make some thing that was of a higher value and quality than what she had done most of her life and completely out of her comfort zone at the time which she now loves to death and is not out of her comfort zone anymore, but to get the validation from completely other people and not husband and daughter that she always thinks were biased but I can show her stuff to friends and family and they will tell it like it is which most of the time they love it also, but to see her get the ultimate validation from her teachers and the instructors and professionals And she didn’t say anything about it beyond. It was exciting but for me to have her have that I’m assuming is some thing that every parent would want something like that in their child’s life to experience so for me as her child to experience it for her as my mother having that was so wonderful. And subsequently for another few semesters that she was taking art classes for fun of different mediums it continued to happen, and I told her that she should start selling some of her things on a small scale for fun. Do customized work on a site at the time like 15 years ago, Fiverr before people knew what it was and then since then she’s sold things on Etsy. Of course, she does the work and I do everything else from the posting and the marketing and the sharing and the printing out and the mailing and she is the artist. For her it’s just a hobby and her second term of life after retiring from 35 years of work in the corporate arena and she could only take a couple years of doing nothing before she just needed to get to doing some thing and instead of having things build up in piles around the house of her work why not sell it of course extremely reasonably priced that is far under What we presume to be a true value but it’s not about making money because she doesn’t need it. It’s more about allowing others to be able to afford it basically paying for supplies is all she cares about is that it makes enough to replenish what she uses.

I am beyond inspired. Chainsaw sculpting is not something I am gonna be able to do, but even then, just the passion and skill that goes into this piece is crazy. And applicable in many other fields of art!

Gosh, this gave me such nostalgia. Not for chainsaw carving specifically, but my dad has a wood shop that he works in as a hobby; I swear he can make anything out of wood. Though his favorite work is on the wood lathe. Think you could tackle that, Jazza? Wanna make a bowl, or a wine glass, or a vase out of wood on a lathe? Call me biased, but I think it’d be pretty cool.

Something about Jazza's videos always gives me inspiration to go out there and keep practicing my art. Even tips from his non-drawing videos keep giving me new ideas and techniques to apply to my chosen mediums and when I earn enough extra income to practice things like sculpting i want to give them a go too. Whenever I hit a bad road for art I somehow always come back to this channel and it picks me right back up to keep going.

I’ve also grown up with my mother, doing crafts of wood painting and selling them at places in Northern California like high hill, ranch, and apple hill for 20 years, having a booth there, and proud of that going to different high schools and craft fairs on the circuit with my grandmother, since I’ve been born, as well as my cousin and my great aunt, the four of them were the ones and I would work the booth and help out with loading unloading so I’ve grown up with that my entire life and my mother when she retired from crafting, got into painting, and started with the watercolor medium. And decided to take a couple courses at our local community college to better understand the actual technical points of watercolor, to make her art even better. It was absolutely beyond a compliment for my mother and I was her only child Daughter, it literally made me cry when at the end of the semester every student took 2 to 3 pieces of their work and framed them for an art show that they had at the campus put on very beautifully where people came in by the art and when her teacher And two other art teachers were fighting over her art pieces that she had done in their classes and her four pieces were gone well they weren’t gone. They were just sold until the end of the night within the first few minutes when my father and I arrived to view everybody’s work, which I purchased another gentleman‘s work that fit my Decour And heard the story from her teacher. I actually started to cry a bit because despite her always being my mother and growing up with it, the fact that experts who teach art in a professional manner, love my mothers work, just as much as I love every single piece she has ever made Made me feel ecstatic and also extremely excited that my mother could see she didn’t have to work so hard at making pieces of art or crafts to sell. I have ridiculously low prices at craft fairs so people would buy them and that her talent was just beginning to advance and escalate in a different medium that had people, kind of fighting for it. I’m not really sure how us to describe it, but the fact that she could make some thing that was of a higher value and quality than what she had done most of her life and completely out of her comfort zone at the time which she now loves to death and is not out of her comfort zone anymore, but to get the validation from completely other people and not husband and daughter that she always thinks were biased but I can show her stuff to friends and family and they will tell it like it is which most of the time they love it also, but to see her get the ultimate validation from her teachers and the instructors and professionals And she didn’t say anything about it beyond. It was exciting but for me to have her have that I’m assuming is some thing that every parent would want something like that in their child’s life to experience so for me as her child to experience it for her as my mother having that was so wonderful. And subsequently for another few semesters that she was taking art classes for fun of different mediums it continued to happen, and I told her that she should start selling some of her things on a small scale for fun. Do customized work on a site at the time like 15 years ago, Fiverr before people knew what it was and then since then she’s sold things on Etsy. Of course, she does the work and I do everything else from the posting and the marketing and the sharing and the printing out and the mailing and she is the artist. For her it’s just a hobby and her second term of life after retiring from 35 years of work in the corporate arena and she could only take a couple years of doing nothing before she just needed to get to doing some thing and instead of having things build up in piles around the house of her work why not sell it of course extremely reasonably priced that is far under What we presume to be a true value but it’s not about making money because she doesn’t need it. It’s more about allowing others to be able to afford it basically paying for supplies is all she cares about is that it makes enough to replenish what she uses.

I am beyond inspired. Chainsaw sculpting is not something I am gonna be able to do, but even then, just the passion and skill that goes into this piece is crazy. And applicable in many other fields of art!
Also, I am curious how she'll fare in the weather and change! Can't wait to see more of her over the years and see the changes from mother nature on y'alls work
Gosh, this gave me such nostalgia. Not for chainsaw carving specifically, but my dad has a wood shop that he works in as a hobby; I swear he can make anything out of wood.
Though his favorite work is on the wood lathe. Think you could tackle that, Jazza? Wanna make a bowl, or a wine glass, or a vase out of wood on a lathe? Call me biased, but I think it’d be pretty cool.

Something about Jazza's videos always gives me inspiration to go out there and keep practicing my art.
