I have a small set of 12 Conté pastels. Plenty for my landscapes and the larger barrel feels good in my hands.

I really thank you for all your excellent tutorials. I tried my first pastel drawing 1 month ago. The result surprised me a lot (Pastelmat, Panpastel, Carb and Pitt, Rambrandt). I discovered a media I didn't know. I am really happy to work with thanks to the quick result that I was able to obtain. The PanPastels are just amazing for background and blocking in the tones and shades. I hope you will keep posting other great videos. Your explanations are extremely clear and easy to understand. I have already made 5 pastel drawings according to your techniques and advice. It would be interesting for me to have your opinion if this is possible.Thank you again for everything you share (Sorry for my english...) Martine from French Alps

Thank you for this video, I just bought some Fabre castell 60 set but need tips on blending. I’m doing pet portraits but to get a certain colour. I was doing a papillon dog but I couldn’t get the colouring of the fur or texture correct

I wonder which white pastel pencils are performing better for vibrant details (whiskers, etc...). I own the Faber Castell pit pastel pencils set, but the white isn't very vibrant as I wish. Is it possible to use white charcoal pencils (soft, medium)?

Thank you for sharing your talents and knowledge with us. When purchasing individual pastel pencils what type of case would you suggest using for traveling with (plein air) ? I know in the studio the table top wooden storage units are available. Thank you for your time.

Thanks Jason! I adore pastels too. There’s no art supply shop in my town so it’s continuing to be a slow process as I learn how crucial (and expensive!) the paper and the brand of pastels are to the painting’s success.
I’ve got Sennelier pastels, Caran D’ache pastel pencils, and now some uart sanded paper. I’m waiting on some harder pastels now; Nupastel and Unison. Also some Sennelier pastel card.
I had no idea how much money I’d have to outlay for this special art form, but I’m resigned to the fact now. Like others I will find my preferred media through trial and error.
Thanks again for your great video :)

I personally dont use many expensive supplies myself I prefer PITT and Carbothello which are on the lower price range. It doesnt need to be expensive , just a pencil set will do for most people

Do Not buy Caran D Ache what a Rip Off! Worse pastel pencil ever, like color pencils. So hard you apply to another color it takes away that other color GARBAGE!!!
