fun little fact, in the late 1910s (when this show is set) hat pins women used to secure their hair to their hats were made of metal and often times sharpened and used as weapons. Which is what I believe aunt polly is using to threaten the nun
My gran stabbed me in the backside lightly to prove they were not to be messed about with. Anyone that messed with a woman with any hatpins were absolute idiots, those hurt!
They are still available Ladies!! Any decent Bead Store, not Michaels, will carry hat pin blanks that you can put your own choice of beads upon. Very stylish, if done right.
Which is why,in New York City in the 20’s, women,s hat pins were not allowed to be over six inches. Women were using them as self-defense and men didn’t like it
I love how they walked in sync to the nuns. The sound of their shoes against the hard floors, you can hear their fury in the thunder of every footfall.
It means that she doesn’t let kids(people who are smaller than her) experience her rage. She saves it for people are grown and can actually defend themselves.

Yes, the scene is so strong with Kate Dickie's performance. Not enough credit goes to her as she is the perfect antagonist with the perfect amount /blend of superciliousness and final surrender vs the the fabulous PB protoagonists. Love this scene.
If it was ANYTHING that the Shelby family didn’t stand for, it was definitely crimes against babies. Ngl the Shelby family had their problems of power tripping, and being on the wrong side as well but, this was my FAVORITE scene.
I had the same experience but i finally realized that we are humans and we are sinners. I devoted my self for the weakest by the grace of God. A big hug ❤
Aunt Pol only had to speak one sentence at the beginning of the conversation and was immediately more terrifying and dominant than everyone combined. I would've loved to have seen her come back to pay them a visit lol. RIP ❤️
@@dkuhs They thought being a nun was their salvation & they had the right to mistreat people, especially children, with cruelty. They knew. nothing of the love & heart of Jesus Christ. These people were not saved, they were evil.
She’s very good at playing these holier than though characters that are justified in their own minds but fall apart due to their own flaws and arrogance. She does a fantastic job in the VVitch as well
The true face of people of religion (not God). They can’t hear their own lies and hypocrisy or smell the stink from their own BS. Firm yet fair, compassionate but disciplined. Children need both but the nuns only cared about their status and funding. They were too used to the power they wielded within their own walls and church; they forgot that others wield more authority than the nuns did and held no reverence for their status.
That was a most amazing scene!!! Those sick nuns which none of us would ever question....it boggles the mind...were actually beating and trying to wash the black off of a child??? I know one thing Polly and Tommy were NOT and that was racist!!!!❤❤❤❤
I could only wish someone like the Peaky Blinders come for the man that beat me. He beat me, a tiny crippled girl, age 12 years. He beat me with no shame.
When Pol and Tommy worked together as a dedicated team they were an unstoppable force

Helen McCrory, working till the end. She’s a true legend. 😢
She was....😢
Aunt Polly was more of a gangster than the rest of the family combined
You've got to that right my friend. Recall how she killed Campbell
Right rip Polly
Yea she was. She's the one who ran the family. She was the true enforcer of the family.

What ever that means
means she doesn't fight people smaller than her, in this case children

She only beats up adults, not children.
It means they wait until people are adults that can defend themselves instead of beating on children. You can't be this stupid IRL right?😂

Narcissa Malfoy
That brought the hairs up on my arms. She was one fabulous actor. Effing cancer.
All of this was magnificently done.

More classy than QT's movies
God bless yuh,Moll. You are sorely missed.
