Note: Yes, you should use a trowel, especially for a full wall. This was a small space so I made due with a joint knife. The end result is still beautiful! Hope you enjoyed the video! Will be doing the interior of the wine cellar next in the same style!
Yeah bro, as a fellow DIY home remodeler, this type of project is not easy. Great job man. It's not only working with cement that's difficult, but this project has the added complexity of requiring a certain level of artistic skill to work with achieving the desired color scheme.
I had a feeling about the clear tote.. ya. Im only speaking up now that ive seen it crack, but i did honestly see it coming. A Rubbermaid tote might have been a better choice. I just discovered your channel 10 minutes ago and the sub is a testimony to what someone can accomplish if theyre determined.. and its kinda inspiring. I am suprised about the woman calling the police, for 2 reasons really. 1) she though it was north Korea and you were in a lake... lol and 2) idk where your from but id assume that this would be well covered by local news and that by the time you had "her" (the submarine) in the water that youd be a local legend and well known by the people in your area. Thats just an assumption though because im still not sure where your at and what lake your nearby.. but for instance im in vegas ( a large news market) and if you were in lake mead id expect it to be covered by our local news... The sub is great, this wall is fantastic, and ill be here for all of it. Great work. You have another fan as of 20 minutes ago...
lol, with home DIY, you can get away with a lot. Thanks! I was surprised too. The lake sheriff patrols the lake almost everyday because we are in a tourist town but the local population is only like 50K. They knew the call was obviously someone crazy but it's their job to check it out. After they knew who I was they thought it was cool and most of the cops visited a week later to see it and hang out. The local news did get a photo of it on the water, unrelated to the call, but at the time I declined a story on it. I didn't feel it was ready for the public until I knew it passed it's dive trials. Which is why I came to TH-cam. Cheers
I LOVE THIS!!! And is BRILLIANT!!! I own a comic/game shop and I have been wanting to do something to make one of our D&D rooms "POP" Thinking THIS is the way!
Great work! I take this as inspiration for my project! What I wonder: for the first layer you are using Quikrete SAND/TOPPING MIX and then Quikrete Mortar Mix. The difference seems that the first mixture is consisting of Sand. But isn't sand the incrediance that makes the final product look more like a stone (consisting of sand)? What made you select these two products in this order? Seems color is not a factor since you did the same.. thank you!
You can make it waterproof! Just look up ways for waterproofing concrete, think of concrete style pools down south. Naturally, concrete will absorb moisture.

Thanks for the video it does look amazing
No problem 👍
This is going to be useful
Very very cool
That came out very nice. How much wine will you be able to fit in there?
Thanks! The wall will probably have 60 bottles on one side.
How much do you think it would cost to do a 8x10 wall? I love this idea. It’s very unique.
I would say 500-750. Depending on how much concrete you need. Thank You!
Will this crack over time? Thinking about shrinking and expansion due to temperature change
It’s not outdoors.. I’m aware temps change indoors, but not the same as being outside
"I made these rock concrete stamps for just $40, otherwise you're going to have to go online and buy something"
- Walks outside, grabs a rock.
Is this waterproof? Would love to do this in a shower
