Hi Oliver I must say great effort and you are doing amazing work. I am looking forward to study logistics ( masters) in Finland. Can you help me ? How is LUT University because hey have a master program on innovation and logistics. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks
Hey and thanks so much for the positive feedback. I do appreciate it! In terms of your question, LUT is an excellent school and i have nothing bad to say about it as an institution. However, i would also recommend that you check whether or not Aalto University has any master's level logistics programmes that you could apply for. Aalto is my alma mater and also the best university for business studies (logistics usually falls under business). You can apply to multiple schools with the same application so it would be good to look for multiple options. I hope that this helps!
Hey thanks for the reply. I don't have a background in business studies, so cannot apply for their information and service management program. That is why I thought about LUT.
What do you think is the better option for MS between University of Helsinki & University of Jyvaskyla 😅 FYI, I did my bachelor's in food & nutrition. Most probably would want to work in food industry, dietetics (full/part time)
Aalto University is the best university for computer science if you want to do both a bachelor's and master's degree. However, if you are not interested in a master's, there are great universities of applied sciences that you could look up.
Hey Joanne and thanks for the great question. This depends on the specific school that you are applying to. E.g. most of the universities (that even have some kind of an examination) arrange these online. However, there are a number of UAS's that arrange these physically and only in Finland. You need to check this from the individual university websites.
Perhaps you can verify or dispel the information given to me. It is my understanding that the best universities in Finland offer degrees comparable to high school degrees in Canada... Is this true????
Hey April and thanks for the question! Aalto university is the best university in Finland in the field of architecture. I recommend that you check out their available master's programmes from this website: www.aalto.fi/en/study-options?field=tech,art&language=en°reeType=masters&search=arc
Yes indeed you can! However, you can do this only by renting a family apartment. In family apartments, you will have a shared tenant agreement and you can live there as long as one of you is a full-time student. Please check the specifics here: hoas.fi/en/applicants/family-apartment/
My Bachelors is on Management stream and my specialized area is Business Economics. My working experience is mainly on internal auditing and I have few years of experience in some management accounting areas namely Budegeting and Project Evaluation. I am planning to come to Finland in next September. But still I couldn't decide on which masters program I should apply for as I don't have much idea about job market in findland. I have focused on master programs on Finance,Accounting , Economics, International design business management, Real Estate Economics and Creative Sustainability in Aalto University . As you did your studies there and you have done Masters in Economics too could you please tell me which type of master program/s are most suitable based on the demand for the jobs based on those programs. And whether fluency in Finnish language is a must to find a job in those fields? Also i want to tell that your vedios are giving very valuable information and you are doing a great job.
Hey and thanks for the question. Unfortunately its not possible for me to give you a number for two reasons: 1. PTE is not used by all Finnish universities as an acceptable test when applying for master's 2. Each university has their own minimum requirements for language proficiency tests and those minimum requirements might change every year depending on the tests Having said this, i will give you one example. Aalto University Master's programmes have multiple language proficiency test options including PTE and Aalto states the following minimum requirements on their website: 1. IELTS Academic: 6.5, and 5.5 for Writing; 2. TOEFL: 2.1. iBT (Internet-based Test): 92, and 22 for Writing or 2.2. PDT (Paper-Delivered Test): Reading 22, Listening 22, and Writing 24 3. Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE A): 62, and 54 for writing 4. Cambridge English Qualification: 4.1. C1 Advanced (previously called Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English, CAE): A, B or C 4.2. C2 Proficiency (previously called Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, CPE): A, B, C or Level C1 Aalto University accepts also TOEFL iBT® Home Edition and IELTS Indicator (Academic) tests. You can read more about the language requirements for each university in Finland on their own websites. Here is the link to the Aalto University webpage that i referenced: www.aalto.fi/en/study-at-aalto/applying-to-masters-programmes
Hey and thanks for the question. If you mean a degree to become a medical doctor, there are currently no Finnish universities offering such degrees in English. There are some other English taught degrees available in the health care sector and in the medical field, but will not give you a license to practice medicine as a doctor. Did you have a specific degree in mind?
Thank you. Ive been using English as my main study and work language for over 10 years now, and Ive been studying English since third grade. Its just practice, practice, practice :).
Hello Oliver, if I want studying in English in Aalto computer science, I believe there is no plain cs bachelors, so would you recommend to go for system design and then get cs masters?
That sounds like a great plan! You are correct in that Aalto does not have a bachelors level computer science degree but doing any of their other relevant degrees (like system design) is a great gateway to a huge number of great master's degrees.
Funny thing, it has been between 25-30 degrees Celsius in Helsinki for the last month and a half. I recorded this on the date that i marked into the intro BUT it has simply been so bright during the day that ive had to film the last few videos either at 11pm around the time the sun sets OR at 4am just as the sun was rising 😅. So no, its not cold at all.
Hey Mona and thanks for the great question! I didnt actually look into this so im not 100% sure BUT my gut feeling is that universities simply rank better than universities of applied sciences because because of the way that these university rankings are done. As i mention in the video, many university rankings focus on academic research and you have to remember that UAS's are not research universities. They are more like polytechnic schools which are more practice oriented. So they do not produce even close to the amount of academic research papers as universities. Also, one more reason for the lack of UAS's in these rankings might simply be that most of the master's degrees done in Finland are done at universities. This is such an important question and i think that it highlights the point that im making in the video in a really great way - its not about the rankings but rather about the individual programmes that each of the schools offer. So please do not blindly stare at the rankings because they do not tell you even close to the whole story 👍

Hi Oliver, I want to study Msc in Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology or Clinical Neuropsychology. Which university offers this? Im a fluent English speaker but not fluent in Finnish.
Hey Paida. Im not quite sure if there are any English taught degrees specifically in neuropsychology but the universities of Helsinki and Turku both have master's degrees available in neurosciences. Not sure if those are what you are looking for. Here are the links so that you can check them out: University of Helsinki: www2.helsinki.fi/en/admissions/degree-programmes/neuroscience-masters-programme University of Turku: www.utu.fi/en/study-at-utu/masters-degree-programme-in-human-neuroscience The thing with psychology and many other health care related fields is that they are heavily regulated in Finland and the majority of health care related studies are done in Finnish - or require fluent Finnish language skills.
Hello Oliver! What about Metropolia University of Applied Sciences? Is it also a good university to recommended if im taking bachelors degree in nursing? Thanks!
The UAS schools don't rank high in the rankings, because they are not research universities. Metropolia is one of the leading UAS in the country and it seems that nursing is quite popular with 20% of candidates getting in 2019
The majority of English taught bachelor's degree applications start in january. However, there are also a number of applications for the spring term of 2022 that open in September. I don't think there's any place where you could apply for general engineering (heck, Finnish doesn't even have a translation for the word "engineering" on its own), so you'd have to specify the field. The only one that I know of from the top of my head is that Tampere university is the top (and I think also the only, but don't quote me on that) place for automation engineering. (Just a side note, I'm somewhat annoyed when people refer to "engineering" as a general term like this, since it doesn't really tell me anything but that that person may or may not be proficient with mathematics and logical thinking. Saying that you're interested in "engineering" without specifying the field is like saying that you're interested in "translating" with no regard as to which language you'd be translating, you get me? Just a pet peeve of mine, this one.) I took a quick look at some of the master's courses offered at Aalto Uni, but couldn't find anything about required English proficiency. The assumption here is, in my opinion, that your level should be near fluent, or close enough so that you're able to understand the course materials and the teaching. (Kinda like that saying, "if you need to ask for the price in a restaurant, you most likely can't afford to eat there", or something along those lines.) If you're confident that you could live in an Anglophone nation without a personal translator, you should do fine enough. opintopolku.fi is the place to look for more info about everything study-related.

heiii Oliver, I want to live in helsinki and studying online (at SeAMK) Can I get à shared apartment in HOAS how much does it cost ? Shared apartment with 3 students
Hey Mohamed and thanks for the question. I just checked from Hoas's website and they state that you can apply for their apartments only if your school is in the capital area. So based on this, i would say that you cant apply for their schools if you intend to study online. This is quite logical because the whole idea of Hoas is to provide apartments for those studying in the capital region so it would defeat its own purpose if they rented for people studying online. Hi Oliver! i want to study Masters in Finland. I am now in final year of my Bachelor Degree. Is it necessary to have a experience certificate to get an admission in Finland masters program ? I am an international student from India
hello! I've got a question idk if it's dumb, but my friend has been thinking about moving to Finland to study animation and art and... I have heard that people born in 2005 get a free education, does that also apply to international students?
Hey and thanks for the question. This is not true and i think there is a bit of confusion around the topic. It is true that university studies in Finland USED to be free of charge for all international students (nowadays its free for just EU and EEA citizens) but this was changed in 2016 when the Finnish parliament changed the law regarding university tuition fees. So unfortunately your friend will have to pay tuition in Finland unless he is a citizen of a European Union or a European Economic Area country. I hope that this answered your question 👍
Hello sir, My husband is planning to do MBA in Finland , having 10 plus years of work experience. Can you pls tell me I’d Aalto University accepts international students and also about the job post MBA, thanks 🙏
Hey @Road to Finnish, Is there any university offers distance / online masters program in computer science. As a Software engineer (working professional), is there any option to do masters along with working for the full-time. Please reply to this query
Hey Mohammed and thanks for the question. My understanding is that there are no such remote programmes. However, i would ask you to do your own research as well as i do not know every single programme offered by universities in Finland. In terms of working full-time - everything is possible if you are just able to make it work in terms of the schedule. However, please note that most master's programmes will have mandatory attendances and courses so if you want to work full-time while studying, you need to have a very flexible job and work schedule to make this work.
Hi Oliver, I am from Myanmar. I am a huge fan of you. I watch almost all of your videos from TH-cam. And your videos helped me a lot in my life here in Finland. Ring now I am living in Pieksämäki with work permit. Which is Type A permit for work. I am interested to Study in Finland for my bachelor degree. So, I have some questions to ask you. 1. Would my residance permit for work cancel because of without working and studying in university. 2. If I am getting admitted to University in Finland for next yer August intake, it would be 2 years of being working in Finland and If I am doing my bachelor degree without full time work for another 2 yer so my status of total contineous living in Finland will be 4 year. At that time do finnish immigration consider me all of those 4 year to give me PR. 3. If I got a chance to go for an exchange program in another country during my study period. Would that become a problem when applying for PR? The reason for asking these questions are, right now i am holding residance permit type A other than Study. So I am not require to pay tution fee regardless of my nationality and I want to keep holding this permit during my study. In my case what is your suggestion and If you don't have an idea for my situation, who should I contact. Police departmet or digital population centre or migri. By the way I am getting admitted to one of the edunation program in for next study intake. I was using ur promocode and got 50% discount for application fee. Thank you very much for your information and its mean alot to me. Hope your Q&A live start again soon!

Can you suggest to me the options to pursue post-doctorate options in Biology Education Research or STEM Research at Finland Universities?
Hi Oliver
I must say great effort and you are doing amazing work.
Oh right, got it. LUT is a great option in this case 👍
@@RoadtoFinnish thanks 👍👍
What do you think is the better option for MS between University of Helsinki & University of Jyvaskyla 😅
FYI, I did my bachelor's in food & nutrition. Most probably would want to work in food industry, dietetics (full/part time)
Hello, which university would best suited for someone looking into studying a Masters Degree in Finance.
Hey oliver , can you please tell me which university is better for computer science ?
Aalto University is the best university for computer science if you want to do both a bachelor's and master's degree. However, if you are not interested in a master's, there are great universities of applied sciences that you could look up.
@@RoadtoFinnish thank you so much

Hi, do entrance exams for UAS and University only held in Finland? Is there an online entrance exam option?
Hey Joanne and thanks for the great question. This depends on the specific school that you are applying to. E.g. most of the universities (that even have some kind of an examination) arrange these online. However, there are a number of UAS's that arrange these physically and only in Finland.
You need to check this from the individual university websites.
@@RoadtoFinnish Thanks! Good to know.
By the way, really awesome contents and very informative. 💪🏻
Perhaps you can verify or dispel the information given to me. It is my understanding that the best universities in Finland
offer degrees comparable to high school degrees in Canada... Is this true????
Fo they teach engineering in English?
Hi Oliver ,which University is good for Masters in Architecture ,Urban regional planning /urban design ?
Hey April and thanks for the question! Aalto university is the best university in Finland in the field of architecture. I recommend that you check out their available master's programmes from this website: www.aalto.fi/en/study-options?field=tech,art&language=en°reeType=masters&search=arc
Terve! I would like to know if it is allowed to rent an appartment in hoas as a student and live inside with my boyfriend who isn't a student. Kiitos
Hi Oliver ! You are doing great ...Please tell how much PTE score is acceptable for admission in master’s program ? Thanks !
Hey and thanks for the question. Unfortunately its not possible for me to give you a number for two reasons:
1. PTE is not used by all Finnish universities as an acceptable test when applying for master's
2. Each university has their own minimum requirements for language proficiency tests and those minimum requirements might change every year depending on the tests
Having said this, i will give you one example. Aalto University Master's programmes have multiple language proficiency test options including PTE and Aalto states the following minimum requirements on their website:
1. IELTS Academic: 6.5, and 5.5 for Writing;
2. TOEFL:
2.1. iBT (Internet-based Test): 92, and 22 for Writing or
2.2. PDT (Paper-Delivered Test): Reading 22, Listening 22, and Writing 24
3. Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE A): 62, and 54 for writing
4. Cambridge English Qualification:
4.1. C1 Advanced (previously called Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English, CAE): A, B or C
4.2. C2 Proficiency (previously called Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, CPE): A, B, C or Level C1
Aalto University accepts also TOEFL iBT® Home Edition and IELTS Indicator (Academic) tests.
You can read more about the language requirements for each university in Finland on their own websites. Here is the link to the Aalto University webpage that i referenced: www.aalto.fi/en/study-at-aalto/applying-to-masters-programmes
@@RoadtoFinnish Really Appreciate how you deeply told me .
Hey Oliver, Which University provide medicine degree in English in Finland? Please suggest me. I was looking for this for long time.
Hi What is the best master (msc chemistry )university in Finland?

Can u suggest me a University for Bachelor in Special Education in Finland
Hi Oliver. There is a course on game design and development in Aalto University. May I know if this is good
Hello Oliver, if I want studying in English in Aalto computer science, I believe there is no plain cs bachelors, so would you recommend to go for system design and then get cs masters?
That sounds like a great plan! You are correct in that Aalto does not have a bachelors level computer science degree but doing any of their other relevant degrees (like system design) is a great gateway to a huge number of great master's degrees.
Is it so cold in Finland now? 🙄......or this was recorded before?
Funny thing, it has been between 25-30 degrees Celsius in Helsinki for the last month and a half. I recorded this on the date that i marked into the intro BUT it has simply been so bright during the day that ive had to film the last few videos either at 11pm around the time the sun sets OR at 4am just as the sun was rising 😅. So no, its not cold at all.

Hello I am Just thinking about applying in Häme University of Applied Sciences, Mustiala can you tell me something about this university 😊
I'm going to ship my son to Finland as soon as he graduates highschool
Why UAS aren't ranked?
@@RoadtoFinnish Thank you for the clarification! I appreciate it a lot.

Here are the links so that you can check them out:
University of Helsinki: www2.helsinki.fi/en/admissions/degree-programmes/neuroscience-masters-programme
University of Turku: www.utu.fi/en/study-at-utu/masters-degree-programme-in-human-neuroscience
The thing with psychology and many other health care related fields is that they are heavily regulated in Finland and the majority of health care related studies are done in Finnish - or require fluent Finnish language skills.
Can someone offer me a finnish speaking channel like his or vlog maybe. I don't understand finnish but i really enjoy listening it.

Just a pet peeve of mine, this one.)
I took a quick look at some of the master's courses offered at Aalto Uni, but couldn't find anything about required English proficiency.

Is there any applied science university for ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE MACHINE LEARNING for MS program
Kindly suggest nsme of university

How do i apply to university in finland for top up program
I want to study in university of Lapland please is it good?

Hi Oliver,
I am from Myanmar.

Hey Sandhu, if you have any questions about studying in Finland, i would encourage you to ask any of your non-personal questions here in the comments because that way i can give you an answer that other people can utilise as well. I dont unfortunately have the time and resources to help people with these issues individually e.g. via email. An alternative solution is for you to join our Discord server where we are building a community of people interested in studying and working in Finland. In the server i post updates about future videos and live streams and we have already over 600 international members who help each other out with different questions and topic.
