Sweet Mirage! I remember when this set came out and everybody hated Lion’s eye. They ripped it or gave it away. Who would’ve thought it would turn out to be the most expensive card of the set 😱
Best tactic for rampage, especially like on that dragon was to use lure along with it.

I loved the art for the basic lands too Rudy! It was so neat and magical, still felt realistic though. Still loving the art from many different sets, but here, it was something special

Me and the guys at my lgs love planechase! But it's so freaking hard to find one at a reasonable price that we ended up proxying the entire planar deck
I’ve had friends that had a phone app that you could use to play.
When you rubbed two cards together to show the quality of the card stock I felt like I was there and I could smell the ink- it was magic.
In my casual commander group. We use planechase cards. Its fun

we used to until we decided to make a game last 10 hours by having two of the plainschase apps and the cards going at the same time was actual madness

When I first started playing, my buddies and I would buy the same kind of starter pack that Rudy is opening in this video and play with them for ante. I remember that my Mirage pack had a Lion's Eye Diamond as a rare and I groaned because the card sucked! I ended up losing it to my buddy at some point and was relieved to get the crap card out of my deck lol

LMAO I was the exact same way with Sunweb!! One of my very favorite most nostalgic cards of all time. The art on it is amazing but if you don't know what you're looking at it's very hard to realize that it's a wall haha

Found two of these in an old thrift store over 10 ago, got em for sticker price. $9.99 each. Opened LED in one and Phyrexian Dreadnought in the other. This was when StilfeNaught was a good deck in Legacy. Traded them for EDH goodies. Still use the basic lands as my draft and sealed lands to this day. Still one of my best magic "finds"!

Thanks for the opening Rudy. One thing that confuses me is your $2 per basic Mirage land. Can you tell me how you can possibly get $2 for lands that sell at Card Kingdom for $0.50? I would love to make 4x my money on basic lands (not even factoring in my 30% store credit there), but I am not sure where I could get $2 for the basic lands.

I was about to say if those are two bucks a piece then im rich cause I got boxes and boxes of them lands... By rudys count I probably have tens of thousands of dollars just in basic lands..
Pack fresh makes a huge difference

This brings me back..gosh. Funny when I was a kid I loved this set..didn’t know any better. Now you look at it and oh my, lots of terrible terrible cards. Funny thing is Lions Eye Diamond was considered garbage back then. ( when it first came out ). Love the video man..makes me wanna buy a couple old packs..
Tek dragon awesome with things like lure or anything that forced someone to block with more then one.

whoa, planes chase was cool. it could be the leveler between a more casual deck and a more competitive deck, and if you lost you didn't feel bad and still had fun bc planes chase luck.
Rudy I ordered a throne of eldraine collector booster set the day of release for about $230. Now I got a refund from the company and saying they aren't getting any from their distributor. They also said they wouldn't mail me a box if they got stock in for the price I pre-ordered at.

Lions Eye Diamond. Actually own one of them that I pulled from way back then. Never was played because I thought it was garbage back then. I don't see how anyone can buy packs from this set right now at this time. There is SOOO many cards in that set. I'd be almost willing to bet it would be cheaper to simply buy the cards then risk pulling them from packs or boxes.
I came for the Uktabi Orangutan, and was left wanting....very floppy taco Ruby. :(

Rampage not good?!? Dude we used Lure with that...plus it has trample so playing against weenie decks...you could drop the entire attack in a 1/1 creature (unless they had banding) and kill your opponent in one attack. Oooh, the old stuff....I miss it. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

Hey Rudy, there probably is some weird ass common that forces the opponent to block with all creatures he has and then rampage and trample make sense

Lions Eye Diamond was a junk rare for a long time. Grinning Totem was great, and highly unique/usable, if that's what you meant.
Yeah, to top it off, he got a Sacred Mesa too in the same Starter... another sought after rare back then.
Good card! I had 3 or 4 Lions Eye at one point. Never used them, sold them for a pittance. They are still rubbish, generally . Just very very good to a tiny percentage of players.
