'What's in there? A body?' Passer-by joked about cases being lugged by two men before grim discovery

- An American tourist joked with two men struggling across a road with heavy suitcases near a bridge where human remains were found, saying: “Have you got a body in there?”
Giles Malone was waiting for a taxi when he met two men and a woman who were dragging two heavy bags just 300 metres from Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Giles chatted briefly to them and even remarked: “Those look very heavy, what have you got in there, a body?”
The famous crossing has become the centre of a manhunt after human body parts were found dumped in two suitcases there on Wednesday night.
Giles was waiting for an Uber around 11pm outside the Mall pub in Clifton when he spotted the trio taking bags from a silver saloon.
Just under an hour later police were called to the bridge over claims a man was acting suspiciously.
An eyewitness saw the man dragging a bag with “red liquid” seeping out of it.
Officers found one suitcase and then another nearby which contained human remains - but the suspect had vanished.
Police cordoned off the bridge and launched a manhunt with a helicopter but they have failed to track him down.

I live in Bristol and what I don’t get is why the image released is that image. There is so much cctv where the mall pub is, why isn’t there images released of them with the suitcases. None of it makes sense. 😢

Clever clogs witness gives a full detailed interview showing his face, stating where his dad lives AND the killer/s have not been caught yet. That's a beautiful way of telling the perpetrators who you are. And it's very irresponsible of the journalist not to hide his identity unless this man wanted fame. But he may get it the wrong way....

Totally bizarre to drive 120 miles from London to dispose of 2 bodies in suitcases in Bristol. In such a public place, with witnesses and CCTV around.

Having lived in Bristol for several years and my wife was born and grew up in Bristol I can tell you that it has a notoriously bad track record when it comes to policing we always called the place “lawless” because you would see a crime, drug deal or any kind of suspicious behaviour in almost every street corner and the police are nowhere to be seen and even if they were there they do nothing. Bristol doesn’t surprise me as a place that stuff like this goes on behind closed doors because it’s become a haven to crime to thrive. I’m sure glad I don’t live there anymore I can tell you.

Nothing weird if you're a criminal trying to cover up a crime. Two people reported missing in London, the Police will assume they are still in the London area. They won't think about doing a search in Bristol would they?
From what I read on another post, it would seem that the suspects wanted to throw the suitcases into the river below from the bridge, but probably got spooked by the people around them at the time, so called a Uber taxi to take them elsewhere where the dumping can take place without causing suspicion.

It's The Sun, they want to lodge the idea that it's a black suspect. Why do they only have a picture of him? What about the white suspects. This guy with the glasses hasn't even mentioned them, even though the eye witness encountered two white accomplices, whether complicit or not, they are also of interest until all three are found and questioned.

According to the eye witness, in total there were 3 people. 2 men and 1 woman with a ponytail. So then 2 more people are on the run. Waiting for pictures of the other 2.

I would suggest that next time they need to move body parts around, they A, get good quality wheeled suitcases, and B, don't take the body parts where you will be seen. Really, young folks today, no idea.

That's exactly why I thought they were not from the area. A tourist attraction, that has high fence/walls to prevent jumpers. Clearly didn't think it through. Unless the bodies were ment to be found/identified to send a message
They would have had to get the state of the tide right so the cases go out to sea and not the other way.
My opinion as we are all speculating the suitcases was supposed to be found cos really why would you go to a tourist attraction plus guarded and open 24h to dispose of a body cos I'm sure you would take it somewhere else where you can actually hide it

Giles should probably be offered police protetcion now that he said the man they have seen is not the same man whose pictures were relased (and who police arrested). Murderers don't turn up to Temple Meads to get caught. This arrested and pictured man might have been helping and covering up for someone else higher up.

I think they are more mystified by the story and that the guy in the photo isn't the same guy as the one the witness said he saw.

Surely the Uber that picked them up might've caught images of them on their dash cam? If I had came across ppl lugging heavy suitcases I would've phoned it in. That's suspicious AF in my opinion but I watch too much true crime. Awful thing to happen though, good on them for going to the police xxx

Sounds like the white woman might have been a passerby who offered to help carry something heavy. Might have been the same for the white guy. Regardless, pretty horrific. This and the three women killed in their home in the same week. The UK didn’t use to be this dangerous.
