always played well against australia and in australia..I remember he scored a wonderful hundred in perth 2016-17 too..He really took a liking to australian bowlers
this remains the greatest innings scored by South African since re-admission. South Africa were staring down the barrel but Dumminy and Steyn put on a show to remember...what a test.
Guys all magnificent innings but this innings was the major contribion to the Proteas first ever series win in Australia. To come back and clinch the series from a losing position with that sort of partnership stands out in any era of SA cricket.
I've always been critical of jp through his career because of his many failures in test cricket and was happy when he retired...but this innings on debut was probably one of the best 100s if not the best 100s in SA cricket history under extreme pressure
@@russoswerve7856 yep your correct his average was 32 in his whole career for test i mean its not bad for a middle order bastmen but he had potential to be the next jacques kallis
Good to see JP's innings among the top 20 rated by cricket Australia recently. I think they should also include Michael Vaughans 183 in Sydney at 2002. Vaughan was phenomenal that tour which have his side confidence for the 2005 series
If it was not for this innings SA would loose to Australia even today. This gave them real confidence. Hope they run produce similar defiant performances to win CWC very soon.
Ive been waiting for years to watch this innings... Can someone please upload the full highlites for this test match. As for jp just not consistent enough over the last decade. If he fails in England this year i presume he will retire. When batting at no4 for SA you have to be consistent hopefully he proves most of the critics wrong until then the numbers dont lie.
Most underrated legend player jean paul Duminy cool calm stylish stroke player test record = great Odi record = great and great finisher big hitting specialist T20 = record fire powerfull hitting ❤️❤️ But most underrated player no arrogance no ego no true gentleman honest player runs machine player
As Ricky said.. we went from an easy winning position... to losing easily... 😢... great match though... Fantastic to get past the usual expected result. ❤
There was a time.... people used to think that .... the only country that can beat AUSSIES on their soil are PROTEAS.... Then came after that is INDIA..... PROTEAS were stronger than AUSSIES and INDIANS at that time.....
If only JP played half this well over the reminder of his career and it would have been a really glittering one
He was a classy batsman. He should have only focused on test matches.
I agree. He was one of those guys who one just wanted to do well. He had the ability but somehow it didn't manifest in continuous good performances

I was trying to disagree with you but I can't. Smith's 154* v in Birmingham comes close for me though.
Tough one to call, maybe a very touching one considering he was new in the scenes of things
jacques kallis made 224 what you on about???

Fafs 110?

u nailed it bro.....
It was his second test, he still got 50* on debut as SA chased 414 down. He never came close to hitting his peak again after this series

Great innings from Duminy but how good an innings Dale Steyn had. From 280 for 8 to 437 for 9. Thats the stand out for me
It was pleasant to watch both doing their thing
Yes dale steyn scored 76 with the bat and 10 wicket haul ( 5/87 and 5-67) was awarded as player of the match ❤
200/7 to 450+ against Australia in Australia is really unbelievable innings
Magical.
I was there on day 3, and what an innings it was.
Too bad he was never consistent, injuries didn't help either.
That was just excellent from J.P. Duminy!
you beauty, you superstar, jp duminy has a first test 100 against austrilians at the melbourne cricket ground
No Warne and McGrath only reason .
@@sundeepyadav2455
Yep. He could have scored 200+ if Warne and McGrath were there.
@@sunil-khatri are u joking
@@sundeepyadav2455
Warne and McGrath retired in 2007. This Test match happened in 2008. They can't play forever

South Africa are a different beast when playing Australia!
one of the stylish stroke maker👌
my favourite player from south Africa..
ABD??
Why are you questioning his favourite player?
suresh raina of south africa
hero 123 did Raina ever play this kind of an innings ?

One of the Great Gentleman's knock 🏏😍
Koppe one of the elegant left handers who just couldn't find real consistency. Still a great team player however
Will John and he is handy player like Yuvi and Raina. Good fielder, Useful Part timer bowler but Stupid Faf didn’t know how to use him.
Superb display of batting.
JP is the underrated SA Cricketer...
he barely performed though this was his highest score ever in test cricket
Most underrated player JPD
Best player under pressure. He's very underrated regarding pressure situations. Better than Kohli and Dhoni.
Bhai videos dekhta h ya ek hi dekhi h ab tk?
That is one of the best innings by a foreigner down under
Best Left-Handed Batsman Ever (J.P. Duminy) -

quality knock shame he couldnt really replicate it
My lovingly player is virat kohli but I love jp duminy.....
Whos here after hearing duminy retirement??
South Africa won this test series.
Nice batting duminy
Last time South Africa 🇿🇦 came to Australia 🇦🇺 for a Boxing Day Test was when JP scored the 100
and now they are coming again at the end of this yr, after 14 yrs
Great
Clinic?
Who was ill?
A pity jp. But in the cape back in high school brother was the real deal.
Shame he couldn't kick on from this. So much ability
His batting style is similar to Lara.
Beat Australia in Australia its only possible with south Africa
India be like: "Hold my glass"
There was a time.... people used to think that .... the only country that can beat AUSSIES on their soil are PROTEAS.... Then came after that is INDIA..... PROTEAS were stronger than AUSSIES and INDIANS at that time.....
Who are here after sachin tendulkar tweet on Nicholas Pooran 😂
Full of talent but he was not met up to expectations and now he is retired
0:45 As good a cover drive as you'll ever see.
Miss the old commentary team if Tony Greg, Bill Laurie, etc
Top
I remember him having a nice bowling action, didn’t look like a part timer. Batting was mostly poor tho
Jp duminy my cricket game test 150 runs
who watched in 2024
High calibre boy but didn't justice his talent
looks like Kohli left handed
Duminy could’ve been an all time great but he was just too inconsistent most of the time
who watched in 2025
1st and last century from super flop cricketer.
Sa won
