    My sons girl friend had a lean code set and one of the oxygen sensors had no reading . I looked under the car and it was hanging there with 2 busted studs. I watched this video and used heat again and again , and got them out . This video helped with the procedure and correct bolt size .save me a ton of time . Thank you.

    go to your local auto parts store. they usually read the codes for free. what kind of car do you have? if it is bank 1 sensor 1- it is the O2 sensor right on the exhaust manifold (of the no 1 cylinder), if it is bank 1 sensor 2, it is the O2 sensor after the catylitic converter (that's the 1 i did in this video). if you have the battery disconnected for 10min or so, it should clear the codes, drive for about 50-100 miles, if the light stays off..you are good. hope that helps.

    Update: I tried this job on my own 02 Sienna. I didn't try just loosening the nuts first because of this video. I just cut them off with a grinder. Then I tried unsuccesfully to heat the pipe where the studs screwed in. I had never used heat before. I used both propane and MAP gas but I didn't have the torch that's for MAP gas so it didn't work. I ended up bringing it to a shop and they removed the studs and put new ones in for $60. I replaced the sensor and reset the CEL but it came back on. I've still not fixed the issue I guess. It was a Denso sensor which is OEM for Toyota.

    i had 2 bad launch at stop sign yesterday when i drove to work, then after work, the check engine light came on. i drove back and read the code
    show up p0134 01/02 with p0131 02/02
    its 2003 Mazda protege Mazdaspeed turbo edition
    does that 01/02 means bank 1 sensor 2?

  • @TheFisherNetwork
    @TheFisherNetwork 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Wes. You made it look easy so I'm going to give it a try. But I have a question: My check engine light is on. My mechanic told me that the computer is showing an error code for the O2 sensor bank 1 ( I don't know the code). Is this the only sensor on bank 1? Is this the sensor likely to give me the check engine light? After I've replaced the sensor do I need to reset the check engine light or does it go out automatically when the sensor is working properly? Thanks, David

      worldcups Do you need to replace the CAT afterward?

    • @jimmyhowes8423
      @jimmyhowes8423 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sorry to say that a P420 is the Cat Converter Error Code and it's bad news. That's a big job unless you can buy a used one and have it welded into the exhaust system. I had O2 Errors too and changed out the sensors but I changed them too late. If you wait too long to replace the 02 Senors (in my case it was only 6-months!!!) it ruined my Cat-Converter.... I didn't want to buy a new car and have a car payment to pay every month and I love my 2004 Sienna. I failed inspection here in New Jersey and had to have my Cat-Replaced.
      I ended up having a new exhaust system put in with new 02's and Cat-Converter and it cost $1,200.00, which is a lot cheaper than buying a new car. To anyone who reads this, learn from my mistake. When you get a down-stream 02-Sensor Error, buy one for $56.00 bucks and then take the 20-minutes it will take for you to change it, because the 02-Sensor determines the air-mix that the Cat-Converter is subjected to. A bad 02 will ruin your $800.00 cat-converter because incorrect air flow amounts, will rot your Cat Converter's interior and then you too will have to replace it to pass inspection. (I'm in New Jersey and if you fail inspection here in NJ for exhaust you are a Dead Duck in the water and at the mercy of the mechanics if your cat-converter is bad.

      Just to let you know that I just fixed the P0420 code on my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan this weekend. I only need to replace the downstream O2 sensor + adding the check engine light eliminator adapter (~ $30 cost total). The youtube link is as below if you are still interested:

  • @wbass79

    hi,i looked up your codes..the 1st is telling me -Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)...if it is the same engine...that is the sensor on the exhaust manifold by the radiator...it might just be dirty.but still needs replacement. second is Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)..that is the one on the "back side" of the engine by the fire wall..that one has a broken circuit and defiantly needs replacement.. i have vids for both
