  • Found another HF deal too good to pass up. $155 for a press. Some HF tools are junk because they aren't built to the same exacting tolerances and standards, but a press isn't exactly a precision tool. I can't buy the steel that is in this thing for the price I paid, let alone a bottle jack, bolts, etc. This is a deal for the $$.

You're spot on...for some items you can't go wrong with HF

Kind of funny story, I just purchased one of these presses earlier this week, I also have a bent draw bar, never thought of using the press to straighten it out! Thanks for the video!

I use my HF 20 Ton press all the time. I have added caster wheels to the bottom so its mobile, changed out the bolts to grade 8 and have accumulated some additional press plates and it has been a work horse. I think I will eventually go air over hydraulic but this is one of those things I wonder how I ever functioned without one.

I've had the original orange version for close to 20 years. Only issue is I bent the bottom support trying to press an odd shaped piece. I flipped it over and it still works fine. A guy doesn't need an air press unless he's using it all day every day. This one is definitely worth the money.

As long as the hardware holds up there's not a lot they could f-up on. Steel, hardware, and a bottle jack. Pretty simple tool.
Having said that, I have a boat-load of HF tools that got me through years of home construction as a job. They are almost all still working. The recip saws and hand drills often leave a bit to be desired, but for the most part you get more than you pay for as compared with what the name brands think their tools are worth.

My only concern would be thecrossbeam bending. If it can bend that one inch straight with no problems then it should be fine pressing bearings.

Wow it gets tiresome watching these HF reviews when they are prefaced with an apology for buying " a cheapy " junk tool ... And just for the record I've been a welder fabricator for forty years and I'm here to tell you that MOST HF tools are NOT junk ...

I have this same press along with the HF 6 ton press. I don’t think you can go wrong for the price. I have heard of some weld issues with the older orange version but these gray ones are supposedly improved. You can see my review on both presses here: th-cam.com/video/XW85Qu-HXnA/w-d-xo.html
