That's a complaint you'll consistently find across all bargain distributors. They're not charging you for services equal to Tunecore or CD Baby. They're charging you less, for less. They might cut corners on customer service, distribute to less stores, etc. there's always an area they're coming up short to save money. It's a trade off.
i fw united masters heavy cuz i’m in college & i hate to spend money on anything especially some recurring shit (that’s just me) so united masters is my obvious choice and the app lay out is very easy to use. The upload process is super east and the release date is right at 12 everytime for me. Also the 10% is really not bad at all if we all being honest..
I ain’t mad at it. Different strokes for different folks - pause. The 10% thing... $10K for the year will cost you $1K for distribution vs. maybe $20 or $50 elsewhere.

DITTO is a good company there interface is user friendly but if your putting up heavy streams make sure you write down your irsc code with these distribution companies because at anytime they can take your music down and all you can do is email...DO NOT USE THERE Promotional Services you will be disappointed because there is no ROI. Once you get going they will provide day to day updates charts of your streams so you can look at your growth

The only thing that’s good about masters and ditto is the opportunities, distrokid doesn’t “steal” or do any of that I’ve used them for years and make good money. Back again. Check out Steve Freeman's blog on Ditto. He rated it the best, he tested the service, until he was accused of "illegal streaming" and Ditto only communicated by Twitter. After two scathing blogs, Ditto tried to make up but never mentioned the money he was owe, denying any sales at all, and said nothing about horrific customer service. They stopped communicating and never admitted any sales. The upfront service was good, the back office was criminal

I say go with United masters bc you can get a 2 weeks free trial for the select feature. I have a single called chopsticks and a album coming soon through UnitedMasters. If you don’t know what select artist is it’s basically unlimited releases and you choose your release date. But you get all that for 2 weeks for free and it cost less than distrokid even when you do start having to pay the fee. I recommend it. It is wayyyyyy better than amuse. Tbh amuse is a complete scam. It takes almost month just for songs to release. Go with UnitedMasters and keep all your money and dont worry about nobody stealing it. Make the good choice

Last month distrokid started taking between 10 and 30% (depending on the tax accord between the US and the user's country) of international users because of taxes. In Brazil its 30%, and this revenue is not tax free, Im going to have to pay brazillian taxes besides this 30% american tax. Most distributers are americans so according to the law, sooner or later other distributers are going to do the same as distrokid. Can you make a video about it?
Sorry but that's a mistake because your task is to submit your tax number from your country. At All Marketing Companies and Music Platforms. I e.g. tax number from Germany transfer to the marketing company and everything is O.K.
I did my last 2 releases through Distro but im so tempted to move to United Masters because of the other opportunities like NBA, Apple Playlist, etc. I really like that. Plus i like how we can link our social media, have a website in their platform,etc. Those are useful features. BUT!! United Masters says "TH-cam Service temporarily unavailable" and at least in my opinion, people listen to youtube more than anything. I know i do.
They also changed their plan. Free users get into like 4 stores. Now you have to pay $5 per month to get what they used to give you on the free tier. The only positive is, paid users keep 100%.

Pretty much. But, artists do it because the alternative is worse. Streams pay little, but they pay something. Most artists can't sell music, meaning nobody is willing to pay them for it. eCommerce platforms are $10 - $20 per month, if you go completely on your own that is a monthly fee for hosting and the domain name. You end up spending like $200 - $300 per year to get no sales. Artists that can get sales, don't care about streams, it's pretty much just icing.
