I am loving Henderson's!!!!!! I was dealing with Katie on my order. She was really friendly, and helpful. My pipes came well tuned, and ready to go out of the box. I ordered the very basic McCallum pipes. I have had Dunbars since 1997, and these are way better! Thanks to the person that set them up. The included Henderson sticker went right on my hardhat. I'm a union Ironworker. I look forward to calling Katie in the future for some new reeds, maybe a new practice chanter, or to just ask for tips on new products. Thank you to the Henderson family.
Same dude, it's a great company with great, well-informed people. Super professional and I'm glad I found them. Loyal companies make loyal customers dude.
I hope I will be able to buy soon. My first clarinet was poly. great for being a rough and tumble kid. I bought my first African blackwood clarinet in college. I use the poly outside, blackeood inside. Will probably buy a set of poly pipes to learn on as well.
Played David Naiel pipes in the in early 80s imported by a fella named Mc McPherson. My pipe major Richard Longstaff owned a set of Henderson pipes he purchased from his teacher who had fought in the boer war. The pipes were top shelf! Silver and real ivory trimmed. They were heavy!! Richard liked the naiel pipes and felt the chanter was very good. Those Hendersons were later sold to Richard's best student jamie...who played world over. Nothing ever matched the sweet tone of those boer War hendersons...later I purchased a set of Dunbar poly pipes ancient model. Never could really get them going...sold them to a fella in Oregon...he loved them!
Do it!!!!! Hassle free out of the box. I've been playing 23 years, and the poly were the best investment. For a few hundred dollars, and about 5 minutes tuning, they are in the car ready for any occasion. How often are you at work, or a party, etc. and it comes up that you play?
Is there any difference is care and maintenance between wood and poly pipes? I'm considering ploy as my first set as I hear they stand up to temp and humidity fluctuations better but would like a video of care of poly pipes. As in plastic shouldn't need to be oiled, right?
So far out of all of the bagpipes that I have heard, the only really one that I have noticed a difference in the drones are a set of nail bagpipes. My teacher has a set of those in his drones sounded very different from everybody else in the band. It seems to me that all the pipe chanters sound the same. So if they all sound the same, how do you know which bagpipes or to choose? They all sound the same to me. Any advice as to good comparison videos I could look at?
i need to get back into piping, im from scotland and i personally have 3 and a half years of experience, any questions about the pipes in open to answer.
This might help www.hendersongroupltd.com/online-piping-lessons/ And a pipe band in your area can often connect you with band lessons or an instructor nearby.
Awesome choice!, this was my chanter when i started playing, i now hve 3 and a half years of experience playing the pipes, the pipes i used were an african blacwood set of Wallace Bagpipes, good sound and very durable, but not indestructable, i would reccomend those.
@@g.mtorsten3564 My husband asked for a chanter starter kit for his birthday & Father's Day. I have zero knowledge of chanters and bagpipes. Can someone give me some advice on what brand to get, what type and where to get it? I am in MO, USA. Thank you very much.
MA bagpipes are antique to vintage. My iz made of brown wood, leather bag. But it doesn't seem to stay inflated it deflates Just making almost a duck quack and take more breath to git dat one note verses MA chanter
You need bag seasoning. Pipes need it a few times a year. Look up on here how to Season bagpipes. You would be better off getting a synthetic bag. (Bannatyne)
I play the pipes and guitar. There are probable 15 guitars on the walls of my house, and 2 sets of pipes. If you are still looking hit me up. I found exactly what you want on amazon very cheap.
Find a teacher somewhere even if it involves travelling.Or better still, find a decent band that provides tuition. It is highly unlikely that you will succeed on your own.

not information i wanted, but potentially needed, cause am in a toss up of highland bagpipes (irish pipes can go to hell, am not selling a kidney) or a violin, hoever this is useful cause am eventually gonna learn both
If you're thinking to learn to play the pipes, you got to find a piper who can teach you lessons and you have to start with the practice chanter first and all bagpipes are made of african blackwood.
