You DO NOT add grease as liberally as you did near the friction surfaces of the pads and especially the rotor. It causes glazing and premature break pad wear not to mention decreased brake performance. Grease internally is a mechanics best friend , but when it comes to brakes you need to be very careful.

Exactly. Just grease the back of the pads not near the material.

Great video with clear images, excellent light and informative comments. It helped me a lot to understand how to remove the caliperin order to make free a rusted pin.

A few tips to the watchers. Firstly; do not use adjustable wrenches to push the piston back. You are highly likely to damage the piston seal. Gentle with the grease on the slide pins. Too much, and you'll get leakage or burst the boot.Secondly; change gloves. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. The last thing you want is grease on the friction material - which has happened here. Cotton cloth will not get it out. Throw the pads away. Thirdly; no grease on the treads. You will change the coefficient of friction and need greater torque than you think to get the wrench to click. Possibility of breaking bolts. There are better videos around. Try South Main Auto. He knows his stuff.

I have used your video to help me replace my front brake pads on my Hyundai Trajet. I will do the rear pads next. I notice that the caliper piston pushes straight back and you do not need the tool to wind the piston back. Is this correct? If so I will simply use the same clamp as I used on my front brake caliper.

I'd rather use a caliper compressor instead of the channel pliers, so to apply equal pressure on the piston without doing any damage on the rubber. Good to check the brake fluid reservoir before pushing the piston in.

Should not grease bolt threads. They should be torque down. With a torque wrench. You could strip threads or break bolt due to over tightening. Brake carrier bolts usually have some form of thread lock to stop them loosening. Not extra grease. Too much grease on everything else.

    Peter,
i have Kia Ceed SW 1.6 crdi 2014 year. I want to change rear pads alone, because in KIA is very expensive and not good pads. I want to buy ATE pads and change, but main problem is electronic parking brake. Can I do alone, or MUST be do it in KIA service, cause this EPB?
    Thanky!

could you please tell me if there is a way to test if a Input/output sensor (Sonata V6 07) can be tested to see if it is not defected. For example: on Clothes dryer one can tested the parts with a Voltmeter by using the R mode. If there's a certain reading on the resistance, the parts is bad.
I would appreciate your help. The thing is that I have already purchased/installed both sensors and the car still reading {once a diagnostic computer is placed} that is not getting signal from the sensors.

Yes, there is adjusting bolt inside.

Thanks. Inside where? After putting the new pads in, is the handbrake gonna be on all the time or the complete opposite?

And this is the reason why I learn and do my own maintenance stuff. I have to point out couple of things. Way too much grease. Gloves dirty with grease touching surfaces that are gonna come in contact (a k a braking) leading to potential brake failure. Very convoluted way of explaining. DO NOT ever use the grips to unwind the caliper piston. Busted knuckles and potentially clipped boot cover for the piston. Better videos explaining similar procedure(different vehicles) out there. Peace

None of that lubricant really helps much in the long run because is attracts dust and grit and turns to grinding paste or gums up everything

Yes, looks more like a grease job on the brake pads and all. Not sure if it helps. A bit of DW40 would help the corrosion and easier to take the pads out instead of the excessive grease.
