I'm loving my penn battles and usually not a combo guy but I love my battle le inshore 4000. For surf and canal I'm a custom Lamiglass guy. Ugly sticks are nice too. So many good rods out there now. I'm a Cape Cod guy so it's different style of fishing here. Penn also for offshore.
My Favorite rod is an Ugly Stick I have 3 different ones I use when I am in the States and one I use over here in Austria . I know Brant is play fishing like crazy with the toy you bought him nice neighbor you have Ron .
Honestly Ron, the only fishing pole I use is " ugly stick " fresh water and salt. In my opinion ugly stick is the best pole out there. Don't get me wrong, there are other poles that are good. But I prefer to go ugly.
Bass fishing? Any ol cheap thing will catch a ditch pickle. Surf? SixGill Erebus 12ft. Catfish off the bank? SixGill Erebus 9 ft. Drifting on the boat? Old 18 Cat Shot. Bait? Any Ole thing will do.
I think the only time which way you hook shrimp matters is when you are using a weight and there is current. In that case I break the tail off and hook in the back. Keeps it from fanning.
Been using ugly sticks ever since they came out probably 30 years. Still going And don’t forget to fill that hole in your yard in before Brant pulls in and gets stuck in it ha ha talk soon my brother

@@CameramanRon I mostly fish the creeks and small rivers of south central Kentucky out of a kayak. Limbs like to snap off rods so I save my St Croix’s for bigger water.
I have St Croix, Ugly stick Carbon, CastAway, Lews and Old School ALL Star. Ugly stick Carbon is terrific for the money for sure, but the Castaway Skeleton 7' ft MD Heavy Fast takes it from the St Croix Mojo Inshore medium fast.
I have over 20 rods. Four of which are Ugly Stiks. I also have Penn, Daiwa, Shakespeare & an assortment of Custom made rods. One of my Ugly Stiks is nearly 40 yrs old. For the $$$, longevity and performance U cant beat an Ugly Stik. I do like my Custom Rods but they were much more costly. My oldest Rod which I still use today is a Daiwa 7' Spinning Rod that I purchase over 50 yrs ago. I've replace some guides and the butt. It remains a favorite of mine for In Shore fishing. For kicks I once dropped a chunk of Bunker down 100' to the bottom & hooked up on a 10 lb + Bluefish. I really though my Daiwa Rod was history but I managed to pull that fish all the way to the boat. The rod was no worse for wear. My 6'6" Ugly Stik Boat rod has caught more Big Fish then I can remember. From 20 lb + Blues on the Cartwright Grounds off Montauk to Jigging up 20 lb Pollack, 20-40 LB Cod and 50 lb White Hake over the Andrea Doria Wreck in 240' of water. It's performed flawlessly. After all this time. I only need to replace ONE Guide and secure the Tip. Not to shabby for a rod nearly 40 yr old! I was lucky enough to find & purchase a "West Marine 7' Pacific Boat Rod, Med Action" for $19.99! I was a steal. For bouncing Bucktails on the bottom for Fluke Weaks Blues and Stripers I find this to be my favorite Rod. Unfortunately I havent been able to find any more of these Rods. And believe me I've looked. If U see one. Grab it! U wont be disappointed. Or better yet, tell me! LOL

I have several of the Spinning and Casting Shakespear UglyStick GX2. Three of the rods are over 20 years old. I use the 6 foot Medium Action Casting and the 7 foot Medium Action Spinning rods and love them. I've had other rods in the past break but the UglyStick just keeps on doing what its supposed to do. I love the rods. I will need to get one of their new rods and try it out.

Charlie is the man! #Saveeugene. My first real surf rods were Ugly Stik Big waters, price was right 2 10’s, 9’, got a 7’ also. Eventually got an 11’. I have a 9’ okuma that has landed 2 30’s, 1 36 redfish. It just seems better balanced. Started surf fishing end of May 2020. I recently ordered a 12’ okuma and had two delivered, I figured Bogo sale. They seem better balanced then the 11’ ugly stick, and seems to have better back bone for longer cast
I used to use the old Ugly Stik Light Pro rods a good bit & loved them! Taking Brant the little fishing game was hilarious, would have been even funnier if you had a clip of him setting the hook on one of the little plastic fish & giving the classic "there he is" exclamation lol! Good video man!
Everybody should have a tow motor like your neighbor. They come in handy for lots of stuff 😜. I had a first generation UgliStick™ from (I think) '76. 6 & ½ foot, thick to the end, black with black and yellow wrap. And it was an inelegant beast. No flex to the action so wasn't great for long casts, but you could horse any monster away from any structure. Combined it with a Quick 550N with 20lb Ande line mono. Perfect snook setup. ♥️♥️♥️👍😁 Honestly, I think the rod they sent you is too pretty and skinny and light at the end to truly be called "Ugly Stick." Lol. Just too damn pretty & doesn't look like a tree limb. Hahaha. 🤣😂🤣😂 Still, I hope you get good use outta it 👍

Shakespeare Ugly Stick Intercoastal at Walmart is seriously hard to beat for $40 as just an all purpose inshore spinning rod
