this album seems so polarizing. i love the black metal influences, it just feels like the next logical step in his evolution. This trend was already very visible in possessor, but that album was heavier and less depressive in tone.
The only thing I can think of when I hear this? The character dancing in the first nightclub in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. That really awkward/awful dancing. Just seems to fit the clumsy lyrics and singing that sounds more like whining. It's a stand out bad track compared to everything else on the album. It's so off from their other stuff.
Not a fan of the name. Not very marketable when a more successful band is literally named Ghost 😂 It will always be a confliction even when spoken. Ya’ll need to be more clever and smarter with how your name will break through in a market.

If someone sees this name ANYWHERE for the first time they will read it and pronounce it “Ghost” because it looks like a “cool” way to spell it. And if you pronounce it “gawst”, you just sound like a south California girl with a vocal fry speech impediment. Its a weak name, they want a one word band name but this isnt it. You have to be smart and clever these days to have a name that becomes part of your success. This name wont do it.

GosT himself has started to pronounce his name as "Gawst" as a result of people mispronouncing it, even though ghost was initially spelled gost in early language.
Revamped Stone Ghost has been around since 2006. They were well known over seas before breaking into the US market in 2016. The fact he changed the pronunciation to accommodate those who say it wrong proves my criticism exactly. As a solo artist sure its something he wants to hold onto. But honestly. Its just not a good name and definitely not marketable without confusion. Doesn’t matter about the language origin trying to be different. If people cant pronounce a name with the most basic of english understanding, dont use that name. “Gawst” itself just sounds horrible spoken lol. For reasons stated earlier.

One of the singles from the new GosT album that I enjoy. The bass is thick, the keys are good and finally the vocal is nice.
almost as if 1980’s synth and the bleakness that is 2019 made love...
