Your channel is excellent, I just found it and I'm watching thru a bunch of your old stuff.
Can you tell me if you have covered anything like this:
I have been reading about suspension on various places (miata.net posts, Fred Puhn's book, etc). I'm trying to wrap my head around how the "stiffness" at each end of the car contributes to over/understeer.
The way I understand it right now is that whichever end is "stiffer" compared to the other will lose grip/slide first.
Is that a dumb way to understand it, and is it completely wrong?
I'm mainly trying to wrap my head around what I can tweak with my adjustable sways / shocks - and how I can expect those tweaks to change the car's behavior. I have the sways installed, and I'm doing the shocks this weekend.
If you have a vid, or know of a good one please pass it on! :)

Those are great questions. I set up the car so the ride height is even on all four corners. Then I set the cross weight to 50%. If The car pushes then I go up one turn on the rear. If the car is loose then I can either raise the front or lower the rear. The sway bars are fine adjustments to stiffen or soften those adjustments. I hope this helps. A lot of it, is going to the track and making single changes only to see what happens.

How much is a track day? Thank you for all of the info

You would need to contact your local track and see what club is rening it out on the day you would like to drive. Then you would pay the club to join in on driving that day. At this time it runs from about $275 and up

@@aracing Thank you. I’m new to the area. (Sacramento) thinking of acquiring a Miata mx5 since is the closest thing to an S2000 I had a few years back. (As a convertible + fun factor) when I check the website track days they were like 1500 and up and immediately I thought it was gonna be kinda impossible to do. But about 300 sounds reasonable once in a while to really enjoy the car. Great content. Thanks again for your fast response.

Great question, all Spec Miata’s that I have or ever seam, are manual transmission. Occasionally a customer is surprised when the find that out. I help them out be turning up the idle and teach them how to work them self’s up to 3rd gear. All three tracks in our area can be driven safely in 3rd. They always come in with an ear to ear grin.
