- We went out with our friends from Moab SxS Adventures to see them test their new Subaru Outback. We went along as support and recovery if needed, but we also wanted to take our play rigs and have some fun. So we headed put early to beat the heat. We had an absolute blast, laughed so much. We also left no trash or broken parts behind. We even had a full spill kit with us however we never needed it. The Subaru drove back onto the trailer unassisted and never leaked a drop of fluid. This is a different video for us, but just another day of us having fun with friends. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

I give everyone credit for off roading in a Subaru over the last 30 years I have used many things off road but not to that extent ❤it
I bet you a toyota tercel wagon could do the same, I had one and that SOB was an off road beast.
I've seen a crown vic with a mountain bike in the trunk on that trail.

It always surprises me how capable bone-stock care are when you simply do not care about damage 🤣
Jeremy clarkson once said something like “the fastest car in the world is a hire car” as in: the speed of a car doesn’t depend on the car, it depends on how much you care about the car. People would be AMAZED how capable a Prius is if you don’t care about it. Subarus already come much more capable than the average car, so I’m not terribly surprised at how well it did, but the beating it took was cataclysmic! Couldn’t wipe the grin off my face! Makes me really wanna buy one as a hoopty and thrash it like that!

It needed them. It had less lift than my stock 22 Wilderness. It was basically scraping over everything on sliders and bumper stops.

I always thought Subaru had a little bit more power than that when it's an uphill thing, and it won't move. You would think it would just smoke the tires?
Weapon, It's honestly awesome watching someone do this who can both drive, and just did the bare minimum to keep it going with the sliders and recovery points.

One of the craziest experiences i've been on, Hell's Revenge! Doing it in a Subaru, ya'll are crazy! Didn't expect it to get that far up the hells gate!

You have to feel incredibly comfortable in your rig to do the stuff Rory does in his. He’s the “Kool Hand Luke” of off roaders.

I watch you on my big screen, through my big-ass audio system. Two subs @ 500 Wats each really reproduce the big block roar and the tire chirp. When my granddaughter comes over, she asks to watch the walrus channel. She loves the "walking trucks", the growling walrus sounds and says to tell Lilly , Hi! She wishes her Papa had a truck like that. Thanks for the show, bro.
This could make for great content bringing stuff like this up to see how it gets on, personally I would love to see a Honda CRV make its way up there! (I own one and have never had the opportunity to take it off-road)
Seems like the transmission is the hold up, must be a CVT Subaru, my old 4EAT driven rig will tear up all 4 tires before it gives up. Still that seems like it did pretty decent for a grocery getter, glad to hear the engine will be saved.
I've only ever heard Americans and Australians scream "yeeeeoooowww". I don't think a Brit even knows how to make that noise.
Awesome video as always Rory and the gang. Shows you how well Rory knows these trails simply amazing. I know Subarus are known for rally racing but that Outback did pretty good.

Clean one owner with all maintenance records. Garage kept , low miles. Runs like new and excellent MPG. Won't last long at $17,999.00
As a Subaru fan, it's great to see him wheeling that thing hard, but it's also a shame to tear up a really nice 4th Gen Outback just to see what it can do.
Here in Finland 2010 Outback that is driven a little over 300 km is 4 700 € so I was also bit round eyed.

I suspect it may be a theft recovery that was missing the catalytic converter when it turned up.
It can actually do more with a stronger motor, lower gearing, the turbo motor, oversized tires, and a bigger lift. But still that was pretty impressive. I mean I assume they intended to scrap it anyway except for the motor. That looked stock except for the sliders.
The stereo still works great. I have a 22 Wilderness with almost 30" AT tires on it, more clearance, lower final gear, Transmission cooler, Turbo power, Abbreviated bumpers, more strut articulation, so I was thinking, wow if that could do as well, just imagine what mine could do. Then again, I don't want to beat mine to death so I wouldnt attempt rock crawling with it. It can get down many surprising trails and roads, and it still looks nice. And that's how I like it.

For context, it has an imported Australian market dual-range manual transaxle. No, there is no separate transfer case, and it remains AWD, but it does have a significantly-better crawl ratio than almost all USDM Subaru vehicles. It also has low-profile rock sliders to deal with Moab's extreme terrain.

I think the older Subaru all-wheel-drive system worked better than the new one does. And you don't need more horsepower just a little more torque and maybe change the gearing 🤙
They used to use limited slip differentials now the use that break modulation crap
