That thing about more cheaters using Linux is just a knee-jerk response some companies have because they don't want to admit publicly that they don't want to divert some money into hiring Linux engineers to take care of compatibility issues. And this makes sense from a money standpoint considering Linux has a small market share, so putting a couple million dollars to take care of keeping compatibility with Proton (at the very least) is seen as kind of a waste of money. The "Linux is full of cheaters and hackers" thing is sort of short-hand to avoid explaining the monetary reasons.
